How 'Clean' are your Daily Supplements?
Over two thirds of UK consumers take vitamins and supplements. In 2023, the global market in vitamin and mineral supplements was valued at almost 135 billion, and is predicted to grow by just shy of 10% each year between now and 2030.
With the awareness of ultra-processed foods now coming to the forefront, there is a growing awareness that not all 'healthy supplements' are as beneficial as they appear. Many supplements contain various additives such as fillers, glues, binders, preservatives, and colourants, which can impact their overall health benefits. It’s important to read between the lines of ‘ultraprocessed’ supplements like liquid collagen and tablet formulations, to ensure you’re receiving what you pay for.
We’ve become pretty good at spotting unnecessary additives in our food and beauty products, but when it comes to checking how 'clean' our supplements are, do we really know what's good for us? Pharmacist and Co-Founder of INGENIOUS collagen & wellness supplements, Pupinder S. Ghatora tells us the 5 ingredients to ‘avoid’.
Magnesium Stearate
Magnesium Stearate is simply a ‘flow agent’ that is used to facilitate smooth processing in factory machinery and within the body. It serves no health benefits and will simply cause the supplement to pass through you without being absorbed. Brands often use it to bulk out supplements so that they can reduce the amount of the more expensive active compound. In large amounts it can even negatively affect the gut microbes in your digestive system.
Carrageenan
At first glance, you’d think Carrageenan, AKA Sea Moss, is beneficial for health as it’s derived from seaweed. It’s often found in gummies and liquid supplements as a gelling agent,
stabiliser and thickener. However, research indicates it can have adverse effects on digestion, triggering inflammation, ulceration, and elevating blood sugar levels while exacerbating glucose intolerance. Similarly, vegetable gums like Guar and Xanthan exhibit similar properties and can also lead to digestive disturbances.
Titanium Dioxide
You’ll often see Titanium Dioxide listed on ingredient lists, also identified as E171 on labels. Worryingly, research has suggested that the ingredient may have a carcinogenic effect. Although the European Commission has banned its use as a food additive, this does not extend to the UK or US, so it’s still widely used as a white pigment and colour enhancer in supplements.
Talc
Talc has garnered attention recently due to concerns about contamination in industrial-grade talc, which can include impurities and even asbestos. Surprisingly, it's used as both an anticaking agent and a tablet brightener, mostly present in tablet supplements.
Sweeteners and Sugars
Sorbitol, Mannitol, Maltitol, and Sucralose are all artificial sweeteners known to cause gut issues when overconsumed. They're not limited to fizzy drinks and 'diet' snacks but are also present in gummies, drinks, and powders. Sucrose, dextrose, and glucose syrup add sweetness to gummy or liquid supplements and, as we know, increased sugar intake has been linked to obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Aspartame is another artificial sweetener found in many supplements and so called ‘diet’ food and drinks. Although some studies confirm it is safe, there are new emerging studies showing that it can have a negative impact on our body’s oxidant/antioxidant balance, which has a knock effect on many of the body’s functions.

Life is a Minestrone
We’ve all heard the song and we’ve probably all had enough ‘life experience’ to know that life has a habit of throwing all sorts at us. Some may be predictable but other things can come completely out of the blue.
The common fact is however that we can’t control everything that happens to us or around us. Some people, from the outside at least, seem to have little in the way of challenges or difficulties yet others have all sorts thrown at them. Some people are in the wrong place at the wrong time and things can go drastically wrong -other things may be unforeseen consequences of earlier actions and decisions. But it is how we react and respond to the situations we found ourselves in that can make the difference.
I may have mentioned the incredible Henry Fraser before – a 17 year old with everything to live for – a university place and an excellent rugby player dived into the sea on holiday and was paralysed from the neck down. Nowadays he is one of the most positive motivating people there could be, a motivational speaker, an author and a mouth artist.
But he didn’t just turn it around in an instance he talks eloquently about the grief he felt at losing the life he had anticipated but when things happen that can’t be changed we are challenged to change ourselves.
He never says it was easy but faced with a life that was not what he expected what was he do? So often our biggest problem is acceptance of situations as they are, our reality as it is, not as we hoped it would be.
I have often heard people say, and thought myself sometimes, that it is good job that we don’t know what is ahead – we may worry that we wouldn’t have the strength to cope but of course strength only comes when we have to face those trials that might occur. There may well be things we really don’t want to face, illness, financial or job insecurity, relationship problems or a hundred other things but if they happen then we have no choice but to face them.
When faced with life changing issues it’s tough but we only have a certain amount of time on the planet so we owe it to ourselves to grab any chance and every moment of happiness that we can and the following tips might help with that process
Understand
you
are not alone
Whatever the nature of your struggle you won’t be the first person to have experienced it and not the last either. Just knowing that can be comforting but sometimes it can help to connect or chat to people who have been through similar experiences.
Feel your feelings
Knowing others have faced trials can help but that doesn’t mean we are not upset by them. Trying to be positive is important but not until you have allowed yourself to feel the feelings. Sadness, frustration, anger disappointment – they are all ok. Feel them but don’t dwell in them. It is hard to let feelings go until you have allowed yourself to feel them. Often when we face up to our feelings and let ourselves feel them, then let them go we can face things in a new light.
Don’t be afraid to get support
Whether it is practical help, further information or simply being able to be honest about what is going on, we must remind ourselves that asking for and accepting help is never a sign of weakness. The nature of the help may vary but if you are facing a challenge usually some help – will help.
Be inspired
There are loads of tales of people overcoming adversity of all sorts so start to realise that as humans we are tough and can come back from all manner of adversity. Here are just a few.
“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” —Thomas Edison
“A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new.”
Albert Einstein
“Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.”
Winston Churchill
“Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.”
Napoleon Hill
“You build on failure. You use it as a steppingstone. Close the door on the past. You don’t try to forget the mistakes, but you don’t dwell on it. You don’t let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.”
Johnny Cash
“It’s not how far you fall, but how high you bounce that counts.”
Zig Ziglar
Adopt a positive mindset, dust yourself off and try again.
And for those situations where that is not possible then work, like Henry Fraser and changing your attitude and accepting the situation you are in even if it is not what you wished for.

Beauty experts Rumi Cosmetiques have revealed the 6 key ingredients that every woman over 50 should be looking for in their makeup products to help them feel confident, radiant, and comfortable in their skin.
Our skin changes so much during our life and with age comes the need to find makeup with more hydration and smoothness, with 2,000 Google searches a month for “makeup for older women”.
Hyaluronic Acid
Benefits: Hyaluronic acid is like a sip of water for your skin. It hydrates and plumps the skin, giving it a fresh, youthful appearance.
UsageTips: Look for makeup products that contain hyaluronic acid for a moisturising effect that lasts throughout the day.
Peptides
Benefits: Peptides support skin renewal and elasticity, helping to smooth fine lines and improve firmness. Even more, peptides can also strengthen and stimulate the growth of lashes and brows, resulting in fuller, healthier hair.
Usage Tips: Choose makeup, lash and brow care products with peptides for skin-nourishing benefits and to achieve stronger, fuller lashes and brows over time.
Antioxidants (e.g. Vitamin E, Vitamin C)
Benefits: Antioxidants shield your skin from daily stressors, helping to preserve its youthful appearance and protect against damage.
Usage Tips: Look for makeup products with antioxidants to boost your skin's resilience.
Natural Oils (e.g. rosehip seed oil, castor oil)
Benefits: Natural oils mimic the skin's natural lipids, offering gentle hydration and protection while enhancing makeup application.
Usage Tips: Look for makeup products with natural oils for added comfort and smoothness. Additionally, the use of castor oil in the daily brow and lash care products and makeup will also improve their growth, volume and overall appearance.
Panthenol (Vitamin B5)
Benefits: Panthenol soothes and hydrates the skin, providing comfort and promoting skin and hair health.
Usage Tips: Look for makeup, brow & lash care products with panthenol to nurture your skin, lash and brow hair health.
Botanical Extracts (e.g., chamomile, aloe vera, calendula)
Benefits: Botanical extracts offer soothing, calming properties that nurture and hydrate the skin.
Usage Tips: Choose makeup products with botanical extracts for added comfort and a gentle touch.
Founder of Rumi Cosmetiques Kate told us “Remember to choose products that resonate with your skin's unique needs, and don't hesitate to consult a dermatologist for personalised recommendations. Your skin deserves to be pampered, and so do you!
Age is not a swear word nor should it ever be associated with something negative, however we all have areas that we wish to hide no matter what our age is. We saw an opportunity to help mature women use products that really work for them and highlight their natural beauty. Our products are specifically formulated to support mature women with ingredients suitable for sensitive skin and that grow and build hair strength.”

Strawberry Pie
“This pie has everything you could dream of for an alfresco evening of dining”
Ingredients
85g strawberry jelly
160ml (2/3 cup) boiling water
200ml cold water
250g plain sweet biscuits
150g butter, melted
500g fresh strawberries, hulled, halved
80g (1/2 cup) icing sugar
250g cream cheese, at room temperature, chopped
300ml thick cream
Mini meringues, to decorate
Freeze-dried strawberries, crushed, to sprinkle (optional)
Method
Place the jelly in a large heatproof bowl and add the boiling water. Stir until the lumps dissolve. Stir in the cold water. Transfer to a shallow dish and place in the fridge for 1 hour or until thickened and just starting to set (do not let set).
Break the biscuits into a food processor. Process until resembles fine crumbs. Add the melted butter and process until combined. Press the biscuit mixture over the base and up the side of a 3.5cm-deep, 21cm (base measurement) round fluted tart tin with removable base. Place in the fridge until required.
Place half of the fresh strawberries, 2 tablespoon icing sugar and 1 tablespoon water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to the boil. Reduce heat to low. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes or until the strawberries have softened. Set aside to cool slightly. Blend or process strawberry mixture until smooth. Place in the fridge until required. Pour jelly over the biscuit base. Place in the fridge for 2-3 hours or until set.
Beat the cream cheese and remaining icing sugar in a bowl until smooth. Gradually beat in 2/3 cupful of the strawberry puree until combined. Gradually beat in the cream until firm peaks form. Spoon mixture over jelly layer. Place in the fridge for 1 hour to chill.
Serve the pie topped with meringues, remaining fresh strawberries and freezedried strawberries, if using.

Following a summer season at the London Palladium, The Wizard of Oz flies into Milton Keynes Theatre this July 2024.
We caught up with Aviva Tulley who’ll be clicking her red shoes as she plays Dorothy and transports us down the yellow brick road to the merry old land of OZ.
What can audiences expect when they come see this version of The Wizard of Oz?
They can expect a fun, jolly and positive night out. The Wizard of Oz is an extremely exciting and vibrant show, with lots of spectacle. It's a classic musical that everyone can enjoy.
What made you say yes to it?
Who wouldn't want to play Dorothy? She is such a well-known and iconic character. Loads of people know Dorothy. I watched the Over the Rainbow TV series, the competition to find a Dorothy for the 2011 West End production, and I remember just loving it. Getting to play Dorothy myself now is a dream come true.
How would you describe her as she's portrayed in the show?
She’s a strong, confident character. I guess you could also say that she's strange but that's because she's different from her friends and family in Kansas. She stands out. She's such a strong female character, which is beautiful to see.
Can you relate to her in any way?
I've always considered myself to be independent ever since I was young. I have always done things myself, my way, and I've always made a plan for myself, known what I wanted to do and then just implemented it. I've always been driven. Dorothy's very driven and so am I.
Do you see her as a role model for young people in general and young girls in particular?
For sure. Because she's strong and youthful, kids will look at her and go: 'I can be that person too. I can be strong, independent and goal driven.' And I do I think that's what she is. She's very goal-driven, for example, her desire to get home whatever it takes.
Is there a song in it that you especially like singing?
Of course, it has to be Over the Rainbow. I've been singing that song my whole life so to actually do it on a stage in front of everyone is amazing. I also love the first time we sing Ding-Dong! The Witch Is Dead in Act One because that's when you discover the Munchkins for the first time. And I have a little dance in there too, which is nice.
Can you recall when you first encountered The Wizard of Oz?
My mum had the video of the film with Judy Garland in it and I loved it. Loads of people say they were scared when they saw it as kids, but I wasn't scared, I was just enthralled. I loved it from beginning to end and Judy Garland did such a beautiful job.
Why do you think it's such an enduring story? And do you agree that there's no place like home?
It's a classic story and a timeless fantasy. It's a bit like Friends in that it's so relatable. Each character has their own story. And is there no place like home? There isn't. I think home humbles you. Some people can leave home, discover new things and then they forget their base. Being an actress, travelling or touring is a very magical experience but then when I go home my family keep it very real. It's like they take me back to who I really am. Home is where you are your true, authentic self.
What first led you into acting as a career?
I'm quite a shy person. I did a drama class when I was 12 and I remember reading a monologue and it really just took me out of my comfort zone. I was somebody else for those five minutes and that was my kind of escape from being reserved and shy. People always say when I'm on stage that I shine. You can be anything on stage and that really appealed to me. It's the same with singing. It's very therapeutic for me. And I always go for strong characters because it's very contrasting to who I am. Well, I'm strong but I'm reserved and shy with it.
You were in Once on This Island at Southwark Playhouse. How was that experience?
I was 19 at the time and I think it was only for 30 days; it was a very short run. But it gave me a taste of what the industry is like - the audition process, the rehearsal process and then actually doing it. I
didn't play the lead but it's such a beautiful show.
It must have been great fun doing the Book of Mormon tour? It was amazing. I trained at The Brit School and the Arts Educational School, which are both in London, and I didn't go to university, so I'd never left home before. I was 21 and I was thrown into The Book of Mormon. [Laughs] It definitely took me out of my comfort zone, but it was a fantastic experience.
You also did Roles We'll Never Play at the Turbine Theatre. Apart from Dorothy, are there any roles you'd love to play in the future?
I'd love to be Eliza in Hamilton. I'd love to be in Les Miserables. And I'd love to play Ti Moune, who is the lead in Once on This Island. Like Dorothy she's a very strong character, so I'd love to sink my teeth into that role.
What are you most looking forward to about taking The Wizard of Oz around the country?
When you're in the West End, only people who live in London or can
travel in get to see it. It's a really nice thing to take theatre to other people around the country. And it's nice to introduce kids to live theatre. I remember seeing my first ever theatre show, which was Matilda, and I was like 'Oh my God, that's what I want to do'. The fact that there's kids who will come and watch the show and go 'This is the path I want to go down' is magical. I really hope that's what happens. I hope they come and are inspired to follow their dreams.
Are there any stops on the tour that are dear to your heart? My grandma lives in Nottingham and my mum is from there. I've been going to Nottingham every summer and every Christmas for as long as I can remember. It's my second home. I took The Book of Mormon there and my grandma came to watch it. It was so amazing that she got to see me in a show and hopefully she'll be coming along again, and I have loads of family members in Nottingham that can also come down and watch the show.
The Wizard of Oz comes to Milton Keynes Theatre from Tuesday 16 – Sunday 21 July 2024.

VeniceA Legacy Reimagined at Precise Tale Poggio Alla Sala
Inspired by the historic Silk Road that once traversed Tuscany, a 19th century villa has been meticulously restored to its glorious past. The newly opened luxury boutique resort from Precise Hotels pays tribute to cultural pluralism and the beauty of the Italian countryside.
Set against a backdrop of vineyards, ancient cypresses, and the timeless charm of the Tuscan countryside, Precise Tale Poggio Alla Sala has officially opened its gates. This 71-rooms and suites hotel reimagines the building’s storied past into a luxurious present. Situated close to the picturesque landscape of Montepulciano, where natural beauty and history intertwine, this family-friendly getaway embraces the principles of accessible luxury and modern hospitality.
Once the cherished estate of the noble Bonci-Casuccini family, this heritage site has been reborn, its historical grandeur carefully brought back to life in a masterful balance between historical reverence and modern sophistication.
In a delicate, two-year restoration journey, the design team at Precise Hotels carefully integrated the building’s historical essence with the understated, elegant aesthetics of the brand. The Noble Villa, dating back to 1895, stands as a testament to this design philosophy. Its frescoes, restored by hand with artisanal precision, offer a visual journey through the history of Tuscany.
The property's 71 rooms and suites are divided into nine categories, ranging from the Classic Studio (23sqm) to the Panoramic Tower Suite, perfect for enjoying breathtaking 360-
degree views. Every detail—from the choice of materials to the lighting design—tells a story of exploration and enchantment. Notable features include finely carved travertine, terracotta floors, handmade brick vaults in the Fattoria buildings, exposed chestnut beams in all structures, ornate wrought iron railings, and arched doors and windows. The colour palette echoes the natural hues and raw beauty synonymous with the region’s architectural heritage.
The communal spaces embody the ethos of countryside living and agricultural prosperity that defined the estate for centuries. Here, the restoration has revitalized spaces for gatherings and celebrations, maintaining a fil rouge that connects the various environments. With a strong focus on wellness and rejuvenation, the hotel's spa emerges as a sanctuary of holistic health. Its offering includes Ayurvedic healing and oud-scented rituals, along with a comprehensive suite of treatments using exclusive Sodashi products. The space, complemented by a state-of-the-art gym with open views of the Italian landscape and a heated indoor plunge pool, is designed as a tranquil retreat hidden within the Tuscan landscape.
The wellness offering is enhanced by the three outdoor pools (main pool at 210sqm, adultsonly pool at 55 sqm, and a kids’ pool at 160 sqm) and a creative kids club.
With sustainability in mind, the resort operates as a plastic-free property and offers electric car charging stations. Water from its own well is utilised for gardening and solar panels, set to be operational next season, will significantly contribute to the resort’s energy self-sufficiency.
Gastronomy is an integral part of the resort’s story, with La Via Della Seta restaurant fusing oriental and Italian flavours amidst magnificent frescos and vaulted ceilings. Chef Ronen Dovrat Bloch, a Le Cordon Bleu Master, pays homage to the cultural exchange and culinary diversity of the Silk Road, filtered through a unique Tuscan accent.
Located in the main pool, the Marco Polo Bar offers stunning views over the valley that stretch towards Montepulciano. This oasis is thoughtfully crafted for relaxation and enjoyment, reflecting the hotel’s dedication to combining luxury with simplicity.
With its blend of historical elegance, refined design, culinary excellence, and accessible luxury, the hotel stands as a testament to the enduring allure of Tuscany. It is a place where stories of the past are woven into the fabric of the present, offering an experience both deeply rooted in tradition and refreshingly new.

A Romantic Retreat at Canaves Ena, Santorini
The Canaves Collection, a soulful, generational family ownedand-run collection of boutique hotels across Santorini, Greece will usher in a new chapter in its 40-year-story this month, with the unveiling of Canaves Ena.
Following a total design transformation from its original iteration of wine caves dating back to the 17th century, Canaves Oia Boutique Hotel, the brand-new Canaves Ena will comprise 18 suites that have been meticulosity designed to lure a new generation of travellers to the island, and embody Canaves Collection’s signature elegant minimalism, with calming, natural tones, in keeping with the original architecture of the Cycladic caves from which the hotel was born.
Canaves Ena is undoubtably one of the most romantic new retreats for couples in Santorini. The contemporary, yet still classic and elegant design creates a fresh and stylish atmosphere for couples seeking privacy and serenity. Each suite has a private veranda and infinity pool that overlooks the captivating cliffside, with further views out to the Aegean Sea. The Cycladic whitewashed façades that are quintessential to Santorini, have been totally reimagined with a new aesthetic reminiscent of a modern cave, incorporating local elements, calming tones, and accents of modern bohemia. The refurbishment expands across the entire property including the reception area, all guest suites, and the main pool, which will now feature a swim-up bar with complementary views of the Aegean beyond.
Perhaps the most romantic suite on the island, the River Pool Suite is home to a one-of-a-kind river pool jacuzzi carved into the original 17th century caves, a King-sized bedroom, separate living space, and a spacious bathroom in a palette of soft Mediterranean colours. Canaves Ena’s gorgeous new interiors are complemented by a team whose super-competence, friendliness with a great passion for hospitality, and unfailing desire to make guests feel truly at home manifest in every detail, from private candlelit dinners to in-room couples’ massages.
Situated alongside the hotel’s main pool, guests can indulge in a tapestry of authentic Greek gastronomy at the hotel’s new restaurant, Adami. The name, inspired by the Greek word ‘αντάμωμα’ (antamoma), meaning ‘meeting,’ speaks to the desire for connection and a taste of familiarity, reflected through the restaurant’s menu made up of generations-old recipes. Each plate reflects a passport to Greece’s culinary heritage with locally sourced ingredients that allow the bounty of Santorini and the mainland to shine in each bite, from signature dishes Tomatokeftedes (Santorinian tomato fritters with Katiki Cheese), Salatouri (Greek salad with flaked ray or skate fillet), Bakaliaropita (decadent cod pie) and Tuna Tigania (Greek style tuna with crispy fries).
Canaves Collection offers the ultimate in bespoke Greek hospitality, ideal for travellers looking to rediscover new elements to the island and the authentic beauty of Santorini. Whether a private sailing experience onboard the collection’s fleet of yachts to discover the waters beyond Oia and the hidden coves only accessible by boat, or an authentic tasting in local wineries that date back 3,000 years, before discovering the untouched island of Therasia – the way the locals have known and loved it for centuries and will continue to do so if the Chaidemenos family have anything to say about it.

The Ultimate Destination Dupe Swap Amalfi for Lesser-Known Maratea
Travellers have been warned that the Amalfi coast will be overrun with crowds this summer as over tourism in the destination reaches an all-time high. With increasingly more visitors past and present complaining about the number of tourists crowding popular sights, too, there is a want and perhaps even a need for an alternative to the iconic Italian destination. And so, allow us to introduce - Maratea.
Nestled along the rugged coastline of the Basilicata region, Maratea is a hidden gem located at the Gulf of Policastro. It is just a two-anda-half-hour drive along the coast from Amalfi, but without the crowds – the ultimate destination dupe.
With its stunning coastline, rich history, and authentic Italian charm, Maratea offers an unparalleled experience for those looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of Southern Italy.
Stroll through the Old Town
While in Maratea, visitors should take their time strolling through the labyrinth of the old town. Travellers can find artisan shops selling cured meats, fine wine and delicious cheeses from the region. Above all, visitors to the town of Maratea will find a staggering 44 churches which it has become known for (“the town of 44 churches”). Impressive considering Maratea is only 67km²!
Hike to the Christ the Redeemer Statue
Maratea’s renowned landmark is its Christ the Redeemer statue; an impressive marble statue atop Monte San Biagio – the highest point in Maratea. The statue was a gift from the count, Stefano Rivetti, in 1962. Completed in 1965, the statue stands at almost 22 metres (the fifth tallest statue of Christ in the world). Rivetti is said to have requested that the statue face inland to protect the people of Maratea rather than out to sea as a symbol of his affection for the town. Travellers can either take a 15-minute drive from the town centre to see the local landmark or take on a 90-minute hike up the mountain. Once at the top you are rewarded with panoramic views – a real must-see!
Visit Maratea’s Port
Another highlight is the town’s port. Once nothing but a wooden dock for Maratea’s fishermen, the port is now filled with cafes, restaurants and bars, establishing itself as the social hub of Maratea. After a day of hiking, kayaking, or rock climbing, or perhaps relaxing poolside surrounded by Maratea’s nature, the port is a wonderful place for an aperitif and to get to know the locals.
Get your Adrenaline Pumping with Outdoor Activities
A destination for exploration and discovery in Southern Italy, Maratea promises an unforgettable experience for those seeking to invigorate both their body and soul. The region offers adrenalinepumping outdoor pursuits such as hiking, rock climbing, and diving, but it also offers experiences that provide moments of tranquillity and seaside serenity such as kayaking to local caves, leisurely sailing along the coastline, and feeling the sand and salty sea on your skin after a day lounging on one of Maratea’s sandy beaches (many of which are only accessible by sea, making for the most magical beach day).
Experience Local Culture with Indigenus Experiences
Local experience provider, Indigenus Experiences, offers visitors of the region experiences that educate them on the past of Maratea, and how it’s traditions are weaved into the present. Experiences include kayaking to local caves, fishing with locals, foodie tours, tapestry excursions and more. With a mission to celebrate local traditions, Indigenus Experiences creates unforgettable experiences and itineraries in Maratea.
Where to Stay
Overlooking the sea and situated right at the foot of Mount San Biagio, Hotel Santavenere is the ideal place to stay for those visiting Maratea. It is the only five-star hotel in Maratea and offers panoramic sea views and direct access to the sea via its very own private beach, providing the perfect retreat for guests seeking both adventure and relaxation.
Hotel Santavenere stretches over 3,000 square feet and is located right on top of an imposing clifftop setting with 34 rooms and suites and plenty of calming living spaces designed with 19th-century Italian glamour in mind. As of June 2024, guests can expect a fresh look from Hotel Santavenere thanks to its light touch refurbishment throughout the hotel. The refurbishment will also see the hotel’s eight garden rooms transformed by an Italian designer.

Prices start from €169 (approx. £145) for a Superior Room with Garden View on a bed and breakfast basis. The nearest international airport is Naples (approx. 2 hours 30 mins by car), and the nearest train station is Maratea (less than 5 minutes by car).

Weekend Starts Here....
Funny Story by Emily Henry
Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it… right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra.
Which is how Daphne begins her new story: Stranded in beautiful Waning Bay, Michigan, without friends or family but with a dream job as a children’s librarian (that barely pays the bills), and proposing to be roommates with the only person who could possibly understand her predicament: Petra’s ex, Miles Nowak.
Scruffy and chaotic―with a penchant for taking solace in the sounds of heart break love ballads ―Miles is exactly the opposite of practical, buttoned up Daphne, whose coworkers know so little about her they have a running bet that she’s either FBI or in witness protection. The roommates mainly avoid one another, until one day, while drowning their sorrows, they form a tenuous friendship and a plan. If said plan also involves posting deliberately misleading photos of their summer adventures together, well, who could blame them?
Wicked Little Letters (DVD)
When deeply conservative English local Edith Swan and fellow residents begin to receive wicked letters full of unintentionally hilarious profanities, her rowdy, foul-mouthed, Irish migrant neighbour Rose Gooding is charged with the crime. The anonymous letters prompt a national uproar, and a trial ensues. However, as the town's women—led by Police Officer Gladys Moss—begin to investigate the crime themselves, they suspect something is amiss and Rose may not be the culprit after all.
Release Date: 4th June
