THE APOSTOLIC FAITH MISSION OF SA DIE APOSTOLIESE GELOOFSENDING VAN SA
Newsash| 3 March 2017 Dear Colleagues, Rain In the past weeks, most parts of our country were soaked in rain. These rains were welcomed as a relief from the drought that overwhelmed our country. While we may not be able to rescue sufficient harvest for the country, we are thankful that the volume of water in some of the encashment areas, such as the Vaal Dam, has increased. We are also thankful to God that we were spared devastation from the recent tropical storm, Dineo. I would like to thank all of you for your prayers. While we are grateful for the rain we are aware that other parts of the country, such as the Western Cape Province are still without adequate water. It is for this reason that I am asking that we should continue to pray for the rain. Xenophobic Attacks The violent scenes of organized activism against foreign nationals that were seen by the international communities, are a disservice and a disgrace for a society that claims to have a huge number of people who profess to be Christians. This time the foreign nationals were accused of criminal activities such as drugs, prostitution and human trafficking. It is not true that all foreigners in the country are involved in criminal activities. Crime has no nationality. Attacks on foreign nationals within our borders will lead to attack on South Africans outside our borders. We call on our communities to refrain from these actions. In some instances, it was alleged that Police were informed about crimes committed in certain houses but that no action was taken. We call on our law enforcement agencies to act swiftly when allegations of criminality are reported to them. We call on our Government, especially the Department of Home Affairs, to ensure that we do not have undocumented foreign nationals in the country. We call on our church members to commit prayers for the Spirit of love, peace, kindness and self-control to prevail over the spirit of strife, enmity, fits of anger, rivalry and dissension. Let us work together for peaceful coexistence. 1.
