THE APOSTOLIC FAITH MISSION OF SA DIE APOSTOLIESE GELOOFSENDING VAN SA
NEWSFLASH / 9 FEBRUARY 2018
Dear Colleagues,
• 27 FEBRUARIE 2015 •
Greetings! I trust that the new year is treating you well. Please note that due to cable theft the area around and including the AFM Head Office are currently without landline telephone connections. According to Telkom it will unfortunately take 3-5 weeks to restore. An alternative arrangement was made whereby the normal Telkom numbers for Head Office are diverted to a cellphone. Our receptionist (Letta) will take a message and the relevant staff member will return the call per cellphone. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and trust that this explanation gives some clarity. I would also like to use this opportunity to direct your attention to two very important issues: STATEMENT BY SARS The South African Revenue Service (SARS) recently issued a statement on its plan to investigate possible tax non-compliance in the religious sector. This includes churches. Pastors, Governing Bodies and Regional Committees, should be aware of the tax obligations of churches and their employees. 1. UNITED PRAYER FOR SOUTH AFRICA It's not necessary to mention that South Africa is experiencing difficulties on many terrains. The main responsibility of Christians is to pray earnestly and faithfully to God. On the 24th of February a nationwide prayer initiative is taking place. My request is that pastors and community leaders prayerfully consider volunteering and co-ordinating a prayer point in their local community. Every community leader that volunteers receives a resource pack and will be empowered to coordinate the prayer point.
Please read the information and be part of what I believe, is a God-inspired initiative: http://www.afm-ags.org/pastoral-communication You can also connect directly with Up4SA via their online platforms: Website: www.up4sa.co.za Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Up4SA/ 2. REGIONAL EMPOWERMENT VISITS 2018 We are excited to commence with our annual NOB empowerment visits. The NOB is looking forward to connect with regional, network and departmental committee members as well as all our Pastors, their Governing Bodies and other leaders in the church. The aim of these visits is to bring key issues to the leadership of the AFM and includes training, discussions, reflection and feedback sessions. The key issues for 2018 include a focus on: ● Succession Planning ● Traditional mission paradigm vs. missionality paradigm ● Leadership Development ● Game Plan feedback ● Coaching relationships in regions, networks & departments ● “Practical” cohesion. 3. AFM WEBSITE The National Office is excited to announce that the current website (which served us well for the last 4 years) is in the process of being updated and revamped. Apart from receiving a fresh “look and feel” the website will provide useful and updated information to AFM pastors, leaders, members and the wider Christian community. The new website will be live by the end of February. We are looking forward to engage with our church through this useful online platform.
