STRENGTHS

#1

CREATIVITY

Action Items #1

#2

Routine Breaking I feel that in order to continuosly improve upon my creativity I need to live a dynamic lifestyle and consistently expose myself to novel experiences. My strength in this respect is my eagerness to try new things. Trying new experiences is a great way for me to battle cognitive consistency and continue to grow creatively.

Ask More Questions There is a part of me that believes I can figure out anything on my own and I don't need to ask questions. In order to be more creative I need to live in a state of perpetual curiosity, and that begins with asking questions. Furthermore, by asking more questions I gain a glimpse into other perspectives and that's a valuable asset in the world of creativity. It's all about getting feedback.

#2

NEGOTIAION

Action Items #1

#2

Tactful Communication In order to inspire shared interests and get what I value I need to do a better job of defining internally what I wish others to understand. Refer to DISC. I suffer from false consensus and my ability to clearly communicate is further affected by instance of coming across as "cool" or aloof". However, on the other side having the tendency to restrain emotion allows me to seem collected when negotiating interests.

Being "Big-picture" Oriented Scoring high in the yellow quadrant for HBDI, I know I'm heavily inclined to frame things in the grander scheme. In the context of negotiation this is helpful because I understand why people value different things and how agreements will have consequences down the road.

OPPORTUNITIES

#1

TIME MANAGEMENT

Action Items #1

#2

The "2-minute" Rule Time management is the bane of my existence and therefore provides the greatest opportunity. Unfortunately, according to HBDI I have a tendency to be oblivious to deadlines and this may portray me as lazy. To grow I need to start with the small things and the "2-minute" rule can help me. If I have a task such as an email that will take 2 minutes or less I need to complete it.

Organization The other action item is organizing myself and finding the most effective way to remind myself of deadlines and other tasks. Planners have never worked for me in the past so I'll need to explore other alternatives.

#2

ENCOURAGING THE HEART

Action Items #1

#2

Set Aside Time Based on my LPI self-assessment and feedback the weakest link in my leadership characteristics is encouraging the heart. Emotionally, I'm a generally distant and aloof person and that DOES NOT foster deeper connections with the people around me. I need to set aside time for friends in which I force myself to be more emotionally expressive in my interactions. I really don't think I can do this too much before it comes off as fake and would be counter-productive.

Start Small I need to begin to incorporate more praise of others in my life. Being a hyper-critical person and perfectionist this is no small feat. However, I think even the casual "good job" or "nice work" can go a long way because that outward praise is non-existent in my life as of now. It'll be important for me to remember that my standards aren't other persons' standards.
