STEP ONE Accept Our Offer of Admission Using your NetID (see page 4 for more information about your NetID), sign on to applicant.tamu.edu, and follow the instructions for accepting our offer. The Applicant Information System (AIS) is also accessible through the Howdy Portal at howdy.tamu.edu under the applicant tab.
STEP TWO Register for Your Mandatory New Student Conference by the Deadline Date Listed Above** Spring Admits New Student Conference (NSC) registration is available online via the Applicant Information System (AIS) at applicant.tamu.edu. Your two-day conference will be held in early January. New Student Conference dates as well as other helpful information for Spring admits will be posted on newaggie.tamu.edu by late November. Summer and Fall Admits New Student Conference (NSC) registration will be available online via the Applicant Information System (AIS) at applicant.tamu.edu beginning February 2014. New Student Conference dates have been tentatively set for late May through August and are posted online at newaggie.tamu.edu. Attendance at your New Student Conference is mandatory. Transfer applicants to Texas A&M are admitted to a specific major and will select an NSC date based upon that major. You will be required to follow the curriculum for the major you have been admitted to. Changes of majors across colleges are strongly discouraged and will not be considered until the student completes one full semester at Texas A&M University. Continue to check AIS at applicant.tamu.edu for updates.
Note: If you DO NOT accept our offer of admission AND register for a New Student Conference by the deadline listed, we will assume that you have declined our offer of admission and will cancel your offer. Furthermore, accepting your financial aid package or registering for housing does NOT mean that you have accepted our offer of admission. You should complete the mandatory online orientation before arriving at Texas A&M University. The online orientation can be accessed at iss.tamu.edu/checkin_orientation/orientation. Upon arrival, you must attend the mandatory ISS Check-In. You will not be able to schedule your Check-In appointment until you complete the online orientation. During Check-In, you may have the opportunity to meet with several offices to remove your registration holds. You may need to meet with Admissions during or after your ISS Check-In if the following services are needed: • resolve transfer credit or other admission issues, or • fix a discrepancy in the spelling of your name.
STEP ONE Accept Our Offer of Admission Accept our offer of admission online using your NetID at applicant.tamu.edu, and follow the online instructions for accepting our offer.

STEP THREE Obtain Appropriate Immigration Documents, Complete Mandatory Online Orientation and Attend Mandatory Check-In** The Certificate of Eligibility Center (CEC) in the International Student Services (ISS) office will issue the appropriate document needed to apply for a visa after you complete and submit several forms to their office. Important information about your arrival, including these forms, CEC contact information and an online immigration document tracking process, can be accessed at iss.tamu.edu/people/newstudent.asp. You are highly encouraged to attend the International Student Conference (ISC). Note: This ISC is different from the mandatory New Student Conference (NSC) that all transfer students are required to attend. For information concerning online orientation, the dates of Check-In and/or the International Student Conference, please visit iss.tamu.edu.
After Admission & Before Registration English Verification/Certificate Information for International Students Texas A&M requires admitted students from non-English-speaking countries to demonstrate their ability to speak, write and understand the English language. To demonstrate your ability, you must fulfill one of the following: 1.
Submit an official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 80 iBT, 550 pBT or higher or an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of at least 6.0 overall band.
2.
Submit an official score of at least 21 on the ACT English or 500 on the SAT Critical Reading section.
3.
Transfer from an accredited United States institution of higher education with at least 30 semester hours (including the equivalent to Texas A&M’s English 104), and submit an official transcript from the previously attended institution for you to meet the English Proficiency requirements. If full documentation does not arrive before your reporting date, you will be required to achieve English Language Proficiency Verification (see below).
If you do not meet one of the above conditions, you must take the English Language Proficiency Examination (ELPE). The ELPE evaluates English grammar, writing, vocabulary, reading, listening and speaking skills. A score of at least 70 is required on each ELPE test area to meet English Proficiency Requirements. For testing schedules, please visit the Data and Research Services (DARS) website at dars.tamu.edu. Following the ELPE, student placement in Texas A&M and/or English Language Institute (ELI) courses is made by the International Student Placement Committee (ISPC). You will be required to enroll in ELI courses in each skill area for which you score below 70. To appeal an ISPC decision regarding Texas A&M and/or ELI placements, you may contact the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs for your college. *All new students are required to attend a New Student Conference. Registration fees for your conference are non-refundable. **If you are coming from outside of the United States, you may need to complete paperwork with International Student Services (ISS) in order to obtain documentation needed to apply for an appropriate student visa.

General Information Accessing the Howdy Web Portal
Aggie Transfer Scholarship
When you applied to Texas A&M University, you were sent an application acknowledgment letter. This letter provided you with your Universal Identification Number (UIN) and instructions on activating your NetID.
The Aggie Transfer Scholarship is designed to recognize outstanding students who will be transferring to Texas A&M University. The annual awards range from $500 to $3,000. Students must have completed at least 24 hours at their previous institution. Selection criteria for the Aggie Transfer Scholarship include, but are not limited to, academic achievement, extracurricular activities, leadership, major and, in some instances, financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students apply for this scholarship when they complete the ApplyTexas Application.
Now that you’re admitted, use your NetID and password to log in to the Howdy Web Portal at howdy.tamu.edu. Howdy is a “one-stop shop” for your student information and university web resources. Howdy provides helpful information, such as registration dates and payment deadlines, and guidance in applying for financial aid, signing up for a New Student Conference, locating housing and more. Check Howdy regularly for important announcements, news and event information. Questions or problems concerning the Howdy Portal should be directed to (979) 845-8300 or helpdesk@tamu.edu.
If You Have Not Activated Your NetID If you have not activated your NetID, please do so immediately, as it will be used throughout your career at Texas A&M University to access online services. Your NetID will become your Texas A&M email address, so choose it wisely. Visit the Applicant Information System (AIS) at applicant.tamu.edu, click on Activate NetID and follow the instructions provided. Remember: you will use your UIN to secure a NetID.
Activate your Texas A&M NEO email account Once you have registered for your New Student Conference, a Texas A&M NEO email account is created for you. Your email account will be your NETID@neo.tamu.edu. This email address will be used for all official school correspondence. It is important to activate this account as soon as possible and check it regularly. Activate your account at email.tamu.edu.
Apply for Financial Aid Scholarships & Financial Aid would like to assist you in finding a financial solution for your education. We understand that choosing a college/university is a tough decision. Financial aid can be one of the most influential factors affecting this decision, but before you decide, let us help by providing a financial aid package that best meets your financial needs. In order to be eligible for financial assistance, you must first submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is used to award grants, loans and work study programs. It is available online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. There is no cost to submit the FAFSA, and it must be renewed every year. Although there is no deadline for submitting the FAFSA, we recommend Fall admits complete the 2014–2015 FAFSA by March 15, 2014. Spring and Summer admits should complete the 2013–2014 FAFSA as soon as possible. The FAFSA school code for Texas A&M University is 003632. Once we have received your information, you will be able to check your status and your financial aid options online at howdy.tamu.edu. Click on the My Finances tab, and enter the Scholarships & Financial Aid portal. International students may qualify for financial aid depending on their visa status. Corps of Cadets Scholarships Corps of Cadets scholarships are awarded to prospective cadets based on outstanding academic performance, demonstrated leadership and financial need. Complete the application at corps.tamu.edu to be considered for all available Corps scholarships.
Foundation Excellence Award The Foundation Excellence Award was created to increase diversity in the undergraduate student body. Each award provides up to $2,000 per year for up to four years. The Texas A&M Foundation is an independent, nonprofit corporation that raises private gifts in support of Texas A&M University and as such may legally consider ethnicity in awarding scholarships. To apply, prospective transfer students must complete the scholarship portion of the ApplyTexas Application including Essays A, B and C by March 15, 2014.
Short-Term and Emergency Tuition and Fees Loans Scholarships & Financial Aid offers short-term loans of up to $1,500 to qualified, currently enrolled Texas A&M University students. Loans for tuition and fees are also available to continuing students, incoming freshmen and transfer students. For more information regarding these loans, please visit financialaid.tamu.edu/stlapp.

Transfer Camp (T-Camp)* Transfer Camp (T-Camp), welcomes transfer students to Texas A&M before the fall semester every year with the purpose of giving them an opportunity to have fun, create lasting friendships and learn more about life at Texas A&M. T-Camp is a 3-day extended orientation program that takes place at Trinity Pines in Trinity, Texas. Students ride buses from the Texas A&M campus to Trinity Pines, where they camp in furnished cabins.

T-Camp is led by Texas A&M students who are dedicated and passionate about making the transition process successful for each transfer student.
