Each year is never like the last. Actually 2024 was a little flipped compared to 2023. We had descent spring moisture to get crops and grass started but the tap shut off and the heat turned up. Summer flew by and we managed to get some hay put up and crops grew the best as they could considering the conditions. We had some watering holes dry up so we had rearrange watering systems in some pastures. We were fortunate to have some swath grazing this year which helped feed the cows till mid December. That surely helped with the work load so we didn’t have to put bales out for the cows as early as normal. Again, we are very thankful for our family and friends that help us throughout the year with different tasks. A special thanks goes out to all of our bull and female buyers that have supported us throughout the year. The kids are getting older, becoming more active and useful on the farm which makes things more enjoyable and interesting from day to day.
This year we have 19 yearlings on offer. 5 Black Angus yearling bulls and the remaining are Red Angus. There are a few different sire groups between walking herdsires, AI sires and embryo calves. We were able to keep the bulls out on a piece of pasture till late October while supplemented with hay and grain ration. We moved them into their pen before the snow came to stay. The bulls ration consists of free choice hay, pail fed a barley/oat ration with bullseye supplement plus a little bit of silage. In our program we have been striving for longevity, calving ease and a calm disposition. A few of them have been halter broke and have been very easy to handle.
We are very excited about this years group of bulls and welcome everyone to come stop by the farm and have a tour of the offering or give us a call. We are always willing to talk and work with new and past customers. If there is ever a problem with purchases, we want to hear about it and make things right to get your cows and/or heifers bred and you as a client; satisfied. Please don’t hesitate to give me a call or text anytime.
