One of soul foods by Korean people Kimchi has a sour, spicy and crunch texture with a specialty of good harmony with other foods. It is like adding pickles and olives in western delicacy regardless of menu. Rich lactobacillus of fermented Kimchi cleans a stomach and prevents constipation and large intestine through the intestinal regulation. Kimchi is effective to prevent obesity and lower high blood pressure. It is also excellent in suppressing aging. An influential daily newspaper in England Guardian introduced Kimchi as five world healthy foods, which has attracted people’s attention in overseas because of its various efficacies. Last year Kimchi attracted such attention from overseas with 97.50 million dollars of exportation. We are expecting good result in the exportation of Kimchi this year while people’s recognition of healthy functional Kimchi in overseas is overlapped with the support by the Korean government for its exportation.

Last year’s actual export amount of Ginseng reached 18.7 million 74 thousand dollars, which numerical figure was 18.5% more increase than the year 2017. The reason for such large increase in the exportation of Ginseng was that the demand of Ginseng by the China regions was expanded but also the exportation of Ginseng increased to major import countries such as Japan, the U.S, Vietnam, and Canada. In detail, the exportation amount of Korean Ginseng to the largest export country China in 2018 shows 51.18 million dollars, which was the 34.8% increase to the year 2017. Also the exportation to other China regions of Hong Kong and Taiwan recorded 28.99 million dol-

lars and 20.37 million dollars respectively and contributed to the exportation of Ginseng. The export amount of Ginseng to Japan the second largest export market counted up to 32.83 million dollars which was the 14.1% increase to the year 2017, and the export amount of Ginseng showed 23.7 million dollars and 15.2 million dollars to the U.S and Vietnam respectively. While the export amount of Ginseng has increased uniformly by each market, there exists an expectation for the accomplishment of 200 million dollars this year for the first time in its history. Due to the recent change of consumption pattern by people who want to find health functional foods, the increased exportation of the processed products such as Red Ginseng and Ginseng drinks is also the favorable factor for the accomplishment of 200 million dollars.

The representative production company in Korea, the Korea Ginseng Corp. (KGC) proceeded with the marketing and promotion for the relevant products with a view on high demand for Ginseng root in China. Chinese people take Ginseng root after slicing small amount of it and boiling for tea or soup. The U.S has selected Ginseng as a strategic product for each distribution channel. COSTCO has continued its sales

around the Korean Red Ginseng and general retail stores its sales around the EVERYTIME. The KGC developed the products exclusive for the home shopping to have expanded the sales even in Japanese market and strategically promoted the EVERYTIME products in Taiwan. As a result, the sales showed 40% increase in the China’s regional markets and 30% increase in other markets to the previous year. Also, the other export company Nognhyup Red Ginseng utilized Hallyu contents for Southeast Asian markets and promoted the exportation through the export strategy for each country.

It is the product commercialized through the hydroponic cultivation during the months of February and March after creating an environment where Ginseng can grow in the greenhouse and planting Ginseng seedlings. The sprout Ginseng is the eco-friendly product without using pesticide but also it is possible to take leaf, stem and root as if eating wrap in vegetables. Also, when purchasing Ginseng seedlings, farmers have been doing their best to secure its safety through the inspection on the remained pesticides. Especially, it is even possible to eat leaf that has 10 times more saponin than root, which is good for the prevention of cancer. People in Korea and overseas have paid attention on the sprout Ginseng as a health food.

It is the processed product of Ginseng with a thin sliced shape of 1-2cm thickness. Ginseng has been frozen and dried below 40℃ and added with honey to reduce original sour taste and maintain natural nutrients. Also, it is highly meritable to utilize Ginseng chips for various food ingredients including tea, drink and snack. It plays a role of enhancing the class of dishes by adding Ginseng chips to existing dishes. In fact, the first launched product Nolmae Ginseng introduces various utilization methods for Ginseng chips through the website such as salad, grilled short ribs with Ginseng chip, rice ball with Ginseng chip, nutritional Ginseng porridge, nutritional rice with Ginseng chip , and Ginseng chip hamburger.

Stir fry garlic and put minced Ginseng, ham, parsley and anchovy. 4. Put button mushroom in 3 and arrange it neatly on a pan to cook.

Clean wash Ginseng and divide it into two. 2. Mix starch with flour and knead. 3. Coat flour on prepared Ginseng and cover it with batter to fry in edible oil. 4. Put mushroom and water brewed in kelp with soy sauce to make a sauce.

It is expected to expand its position of Chubu Perilla Leaf while a geographical condition of closer distance for the market advancement to Japan is coincided with the market expandibility so called a large increase in the demand of sesame leaf in Japan. Such evaluation has come out that the cooperation by the government, local governments, and NH also shared its advancement as well as farmers of sesame leaf.

Sesame Leaf through Elevated Hydroponic Cultivation for Advancement to Japan In order to ship out to the APC (Agricultural Product Processing Center) of Maninsan NH, the major selection and shipping group of Chubu sesame leaf, there is a condition for all 250 shipping farmers to receive the certificate of GAP. It has a meaningful purpose of ensuring its safety. Based on such safety, we have advanced to Vietnam and Hong Kong markets followed by the U.S, Canada, and Singapore which were the major export countries. However, the exportation to the neighboring country Japan was far from our goal. The inspection condition in Japan is so much difficult and a soil cultivation has been practiced for most sesame leaf. There have been many cases such that it is not easy to remove harmful insects once clinging to the soil even after the fumigation because of many hairs specially on the back side. Nevertheless, the export of sesame leaf to Japan was necessary for the sesame leaf industry. As Japan is closer geographically, it takes a low cost for logistics. As a culture of eating grilled meat has been generalized in Japan under the influence of Hallyu, the demand of sesame leaf also has largely increased. Also, such evaluation has come out that sesame leaf has more excellent taste and smell than shiso leaf that people take with sashimi in Japan. It seems that sesame leaf will receive its popularity as a substitute item for shiso leaf. Accordingly, it is the elevated hydroponic cultivation that the APC of Maninsan NH has promoted a production

In Korea, whenever holiday or party takes place, jeon is always served on the dining table. There is a fable passing down that people started eating jeon because rain drops sounded similar to the sound of pan-frying jeon. But also some insist that it is because the smell of frying jeon in rainy day spreads out far away. There are diverse jeon by each ingredient. Most people eat jeon with Makgeolli. Long ago, such culture was settled to drink Makgeolli with jeon. These two foods match well. What Kind of Wine is Makgeolli? Wine in France, Sake in Japan, whisky in England, and beer in Germany, then the representative wine of Korea is Makgeolli. Makgeolli made of the main material of raw rice, can be largely classified to sterilized Makgeolli and fresh Makgeolli. Their difference differs by the presence of lactobacillus. Sterilized Makgeolli has a merit of clean taste and long expiration date. Fresh Makgeolli with live lactobacillus greatly helps digestion and bowel movement. With the pride of clean milky color, sweet taste, low alcohol degree of 5 to 6 in average and low calorie, Makgeolli has attracted the attention all around the world as a wine ‘not to be drunken’ but ‘to enjoy’. “K-Mush Co., Ltd, the agricultural company of an integrated organization for mushroom export, was organized by the participation of 140 mushroom producers and export companies on March 2018. We have been exporting Korean mushroom to 20 countries with K-Mush brand.” The CEO of K-Mush, Cho Yong-mok, as the first elected representative of an integrated organization for mushroom exportation in Korea, has focused on the expansion of mushroom exportation.

Ginseng Museum of Yeoungju City

he Ginseng Museum of Yeongju City where visitors can meet with Poongi Ginseng was opened in 2013 to have operated diverse educational programs and experience corners. First of all, the Museum offers the history of Poonggi Ginseng and the stories of merchants in Joseon Dynasty through animation and various attractions. You can receive a sanitary certificate after passing CIQ inspection with the proceeding for the customs clearance of a product. Based on this certificate, it is possible to sell the product in Chinese markets. The sanitary certificate for general foods corresponds to the cargo for one time exportation, and you should proceeded with the above procedure again for the next exportation. Before you export fishery products, it is mandatory to proceed with the registration of CNCA production company, the design of Chinese label, and the prior registration of AQSIQ system for the export companies of overseas foods. As laver and seasoned laver belong to the fishery products, it is mandatory to register for the CNCA production company. It will take 2 to 3 months for registration and its evaluation and registration are proceeded in Korea. You may inquire relevant matters to The National Fishery Products Quality Management Service (+82-51-400-5731~3). The export procedure for the first exportation shall be proceeded with a registration for the CNCA fisher production company of fishery products→a prior review on Chinese label, a prior registration for AQSIQ overseas company→Arrival at a port of China→CIQ report, Customs report→Customs inspection and tariff payment→ Sampling inspection and label inspection for CIQ product →Issue of a sanitary certificate and a sanitary permit, and a label registration number→Attachment of Chinese label→Distribution for sales.
