Kate Csontos, Assoc. AIA, NCARB | Stantec Architecture Inc. Kate is a Project Manager and Senior Associate at Stantec Architecture Inc. Having graduated with a Masters in Architecture, her career over the last 13 years focused on an integrated design approach through problem solving and open communication among trades. The cornerstone of her projects at Stantec consist of well managed budgets, schedules, and technical aspects; believing project management is not a separate function but rather a key piece in the design process. Kate also develops local AIA tours and lectures through her position as Programming Co-Chair for the AIA Cleveland Board.
Aaron Hill, AIA, LEED AP | Bialosky Cleveland Aaron Hill is Partner with Bialosky Cleveland, an AIA Ohio Gold Medal Firm. Throughout his career, Aaron has directed and designed a range of high-profile institutional projects, which have been recognized with ten State and Local AIA Design Awards. He received his education from Kent State University.
AIA CLEVELAND DESIGN AWARDS COMMITTEE (CONT.) James Cowan, Assoc. AIA | ThenDesign Architecture James is currently spearheading efforts developing 21st century learning centers with ThenDesign Architecture located in Willoughby, Ohio. He earned his Master of Architecture at Kent State University’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative. He is a recipient of the 2018 AIA Cleveland Activism Award and among Crain’s Cleveland Forty under 40. While on the path to licensure as a registered architect, community engagement has become an increased focus. Founding “NOMAD”, an art and design book initiative, and his involvement with various mentorship programs are a few ways he plans to impact the design industry for years to come. In his free time, he enjoys outings with his family and exploring hiking trails.
Gwendolyn Frank, AIA | Perspectus Architecture Gwendolyn is a graduate of Kent State University and a project architect with Perspectus Architecture. She is thrilled to officially be a licensed architect (her goal since school was by the 2021 Design Awards). She is currently serving as one of the AIA Ohio Associate Co-Directors on the AIA Ohio Board. When not in the office she is enjoying all Cleveland has to offer including things related to her non architecture passions: art, theater, history, and the local metro parks.
Patty Lampert | AIA Cleveland Patty is AIA Cleveland’s Executive Director, and a graduate of Cleveland State University. She enjoys working with all of our members, sponsors, vendors, community partners, designers, volunteers and the AIA Cleveland Board to fulfill the chapter’s mission and build a stronger architectural and design community. We welcome your participation, and are looking forward to another great year together. Please drop by the office when you have a chance to say hello.
Melanie Lewis, AIA | Bowen+ Melanie is a Principal and Director of Practice at Bowen + Associates. She is a graduate of Kent State University CAED and her architectural 15 minutes of fame (aside from the AIA Members Matter Profile of course!) is having a project appear in Architectural Record (Green City Growers, Cleveland OH – October 2012). When not in the office she dabbles in yoga, barre, crossfit, motherhood, speeding without getting caught, fine dining, and binging good (and some not good) television.
AIA CLEVELAND DESIGN AWARDS COMMITTEE (CONT.) Matt MacRaild, AIA, MBA | Cleveland Clinic With over 18 years of professional experience in the architectural design industry Matt has a focus on digital design and digital fabrication. He earned his M. Arch, Master of Urban Design and MBA from Washington University in St. Louis and as a registered architect has worked on a vast number of projects both large and small. Matt is an invested educator, having taught courses and workshops at both Washington University in St. Louis and Kent State University and has been engaged to give numerous lectures on his areas of expertise, with presentations including design representation, the role of the computer in the design process, and how digital fabrication impacts both business decisions and the intersection of the design and construction industries.
David Maniet, AIA | Maniet Architects David is a graduate of Kent State University, an Architect with Maniet Architects, and a member of Lakewood’s Architectural Board of Review. For AIA Cleveland, he is the Director of Membership, reaching out to members and firms to promote the value of being a member of AIA. He is the recipient of the 2016 AIA Cleveland Emerging Professional Award. David enjoys traveling to experience architecture and urban environments around the globe.
Nick Slaughterbeck, AIA | ONYX Creative Nick is a graduate of Kent State University’s dual Master of Business/ Master of Architecture program and has been involved in the Cleveland Design Awards for the last five years. He currently works at Onyx Creative as a newly licensed architect and project manager. Nick is an active member of the AIA Cleveland community and in his free time can be found golfing, weight lifting, or playing video games with his wife, Sarah and their dog Remington.
Robyn Wolf, AIA | Bowen+ Robyn is a Project Manager and Senior Project Architect at Bowen. She will lead AIA Cleveland in 2022 as President, the fourth woman to hold the position. An active AIA member since 2016, she received a Presidential Citation in 2019 while serving as AIA Cleveland Director of WIA+. After earning her Master of Architecture degree from Kent State University CAED, Robyn began practicing architecture in a small department of a large engineering firm where she fell in love with municipal and public bid programs. Finding these projects to be the best opportunities to positively impact communities, Robyn continued her work on public buildings when she transitioned to Bowen in 2014 and currently leads Bowen’s justice architecture projects. Outside of architecture, Robyn’s other life interests include traveling with her husband, spoiling her rescue pups, sweating through power vinyasa yoga, and being a craft beer snob.
