“AIESEC is more than 60 years old and alive as a global organisation transgenerational and united by a personalized capital of trust. Believing in transcultural cross fertilization, young as ever with its culture, materialized this last year as related in the following pages. Jean Choplin | Founder of AIESEC
Letter from the President The solution of activating youth leadership since more than 60 years My name is Elie Chéhadé, and during the past year I had been honored to be President of AIESEC in France. This means to lead a federation that could impact more than 1000 young people all around France and enable these ones to impact societies, companies, NGOs and thousands of people around the globe. Impact through youth leadership: at AIESEC in France, we enable French students to lead and take ownership on concrete projects with real resources, while getting their academic degree. Then what is the difference between AIESEC and any other established student association? First, AIESEC, is one of the rare associations in France to be able to reach students from all types of backgrounds (Business, Engineering, Law, Mathematics, Physics, Information Technology, Political Sciences, Psychology, Languages, etc.) and levels of studies (from Bachelor to PHD). Also, AIESEC’s impact radius goes way beyond the campuses’ walls: we export our French students’ impact to the whole world. The lessons that we learn at AIESEC are neither written in handbooks nor taught in classes, they are engraved in our actions and practical experiences. Here are some of the lessons that I have learned through my 5-year experience with AIESEC: Trust yourself and your ability to accomplish your targets. Trust the others, your teammates, to reach new heights and pave a path for greatness to the organisation you are working for and to yourself. Learn to adapt. During the past years, we faced challenges from all sides, both internally and externally. However, we learned to adapt and
face our challenges instead of giving up. Strong falls only made us stronger. Find your anchor. No matter what happens, in any circumstance, find this element that will help you keep going. Finally, in this journey, we cannot walk alone. I’m incredibly grateful to all our partners, stakeholders and Alumni who make AIESEC happen everyday and who help us create impact on the French youth and the French society. We wouldn’t be who we are without them. Ultimately, my gratitude goes immensely to our amazing members, a federation that I fell in love with from the first sight and my incredible team: Benson, César, Milena, Noémie and Rémy, an incredibely unconventional team that worked days and nights to make sure that AIESEC in France is achieving the impact we strive for. Over a year ago, during my election speech, I vowed to wake up a sleeping giant called AIESEC in France. Today I am proud to say that this giant has opened its eyes...
Elie Chéhadé President of AIESEC France 2015 - 2016

Our Vision
What is AIESEC? AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-led network creating positive impact through personal development and shared global experiences. We are present in 122 countries and territories through member committees that engage 100.000 members to deliver our programmes.
What do we believe in? Established after World War II, AIESEC envisions a very powerful message: peace & fulfillment of humankind’s potential. We believe every young person deserves the chance and the means to develop their leadership potential and themselves in a culturally-tolerant environment.
What do we do? For more than 60 years we have been providing young people with self-driven, practical, global experiences. We enable them to see the world, discover what truly matters to them and eventually make a real difference. Our value-based environment allows our members to take on certain behaviours that can shape their personality for the future. We offer a strong foundation of principles as they develop into responsible and entrepreneurial young leaders.
Striving for Excellence
We aim to deliver the highest quality performance in everything we do. Through creativity and innovation we seek to continuously improve.
Activating Leadership
We lead by example and inspire leadership through action and results, taking full responsibility for developing others.
Living Diversity
We seek to learn from the different ways of life and opinions represented in our multicultural environment. We respect and actively encourage the contribution of every individual.
Acting Sustainably
We act in a way that is sustainable for our organisation and society. Our decisions take into account the needs of future generations
Demonstrating Integrity
We are consistent and transparent in our decisions and actions. We fulfil our commitments and conduct ourselves in a way that is true to our vision.

The Leadership We Develop Our Leadership Development Model seeks to prepare youth to become capable of making a difference through their everyday actions. How It Was Developed Based on the research of best leadership experiences with AIESEC, conversations with AIESEC members, experts consultancy, alumni impact study and the biggest world trends impacting the context of leadership, we were then able to identify the type of leadership we want to develop and qualities that will trigger life-long leadership journey for a young person. How are we enabling young people to develop their leadership potential? Leadership is developed through an “inner and outer journey”, which is necessary to internalize an individual’s learning to ensure that what was learned become a part of their daily life, so we developed our own framework of leadership development.
The Inner and Outer Journey The inner journey of leadership consists of gaining introspective skills, as well as understanding deep personal values and acting on them. This enables young people to reinvent themselves and to find out what they actually stand for in life. The outer journey of leadership is shaped by the external environment, which places challenges and creates opportunities for interaction with stakeholders coming from a different culture and mindset. Thus, an young person goes through various development stages during the experience, in order to eventually grow into a young leader.
Impact The central element that connects the inner to the outer journey is the impact that the person is making on society throughout the experience. Cross-cultural exchanges and teamwork provide powerful learning experiences to young people for them to start their life-long leadership journey. This is how we develop leadership and what we want to generate in the world.
AIESEC’s Inner and Outer Journey Framework
Our 2020 Midterm Ambition How It Was Developed As any organization in the 21st century, AIESEC needs to adapt to the pace of change. This requires to set a bold mid-term ambition for the next five years. This ambition has been co-created at our annual International congress in India in August 2015 with more than 800 delegates from 120+ entities from our network. These statements will be driving our action as an organization for the next five years.
13
We are a movement with one cause: peace We easily engageyouth & like minded round the globe to act as one. When people think of leadership development, they think of AIESEC.
Being aware of global and local issues, we act quickly to respond to them by leadership experiences. We collaborate with lik that, like us, strive for a rough this, we take part in global and local decision making processes.
Doing the same things is not enough to one day engage and develop every young person in the world. Being ve means for us to challenge the way we think W v ve ways to r. gr Every AIESECer seeks for every day. We are an AIESEC that is able to grow from 5 to 500 within a few weeks.
15
Anyone can experience AIESEC, be it physically, virtually, directly or vely indirectly. W break our geographical and social barriers to make it possible for every young person in the world to live an AIESEC experience.
AIESEC in France As one of the founding entities of the organization, AIESEC in France has been working for over 60 years to contribute to this vision until today. This year, our national team of 2015-2016 lead our federation of 16 local committees and 400 members; we wanted to challenge the status quo of an organization that had been struggling in the past few years, both in terms of exchange and membership. Our team chose to be the “Phénix”, symbolizing the rise from stagnation before transmitting it to our successors for exponential growth. Our team stand reflects what we desired to achieve this year, and what we believed we have achieved.
At the end of the year, AIESEC in France achieved a 33% growth in the number of entities compared to the previous year, thanks to the opening of 5 new expansions in the west of France and within the Parisian region. With this, our entity is approaching one of the 2020 AIESEC vision statements: “Being accessible to everyone, everywhere”.

The LEAD Program The role of LEAD is to bring consciousness on one’s development and, by ensuring that its activities are focused on our leadership qualities, it acts as a catalyst to develop all the qualities no matter how long or short an leadership experience in AIESEC can be. Thus, LEAD aims to enhance the leadership development in every participant and to make their experiences better.
Team Minimuns It stands for minimuns for a team to exist, for example having an identity, goals, team rules, coaching and much more. We focused on more education and implementation of this for all the entities as key activities that should happen in every team experience. This way we can ensure that all members are developing themselves and through this, achieving and contributing to our organizational goals.
AIESEC’s Global Talent Program connects students and recent graduates to professional internship experiences across the world About Global Talent Global Talent Program brings impact to both recent graduates and comapnies and organisations. Young people undergo an intense learning experience by having meaningful and challenging jobs, which pushes them to advance and improve constantly. Internships also allow them to polish their hard and soft skills, understand what it takes to succeed professionnally and stay competitive in a global workforce. Companies and organisations at the same time benefit by having top talents and global perspective in their workplace. Interns bring innovation, different perspective, push the organisations forward and keep them competitive. Our global professional internship program helps facilitate leadership development in young people. In addition, AIESEC with its partners contributes directly and unindirectly to youth unemployment: by providing a short-term solution - internship placements, and a long-term solution which is equipping young people with skills and mindset necessary in order to succeed and find a job.
Special Project
23
Starting from December 2015 AIESEC France is supporting all students going on internships (both professional and volunteering) to India. Due to the rules applied by the Indian Embassy, AIESEC France and AIESEC India are supposed to check on the conditions of the internships that people are promised in India and make sure that their experience will be valuable. Together with AIESEC India, we managed to work out the process for all those participants as well as establishing the communication flow between the two entities. The whole system still has a lot of details to fix, but after 7 months we managed to collect enough information and experience in order to improve the process. Thanks to the project we managed to send around 130 participants to India.
What can be the most powerful and relevant experience we can provide to students around the world? What’s appealing to young people? At the same time in AIESEC, we are striving to develop responsible entrepreneurial leaders - what’s more entrepreneurial than being in a start-up and witnessing an idea from scratch coming to life? And this is how we came up with Global Entrepreneur project, a short-term international internship in start-ups. Right now we do have something that a lot of people can access and also want to join, experiencing entrepreneurship in a very inspirational and challenging way. We need to be prepared to support the Millennial generation and economical trends, while being true to our core and relevant to the outside factors as well. Global Entrepreneur can definitely develop the leadership the world needs, the right skills and business to shape positive impact.

AIESEC’s Global Volunteer Program gives young people the opportunity to volunteer abroad and develop entrepreneurial and responsible leadership skills. About Global Volunteer We believe that the most powerful way to learn something is to experience it. Through a complete cultural immersion and a challenging new environment, young people have the chance to rediscover themselves, increase their level of self-awareness and undergo immense personal growth. At the same time, by volunteering to address global issues hands-on in local communities, young people acquire new soft skills, evolve professionnally, develop a sense of world citizenship, desire tp contribute and have positive impact on society. The purpose of Global Volunteer Program and its indirect impact is to develop responsible young leaders who are self-aware, world citizens, able to empower others and always strive to find solutions. The value of the program can also be seen in its direct impact over the years - contribution to addressing global issues such as providing education, improving literacy, eradicating poverty, sustainable living, delivering sanitation and human rights.
Special Project
27
One of the innovations that we decided to introduce this year was creating a special partnership with Arts et Métiers ParisTech, enabling the students of the prestigious French engineering school to experience the Global Volunteer Program for the first time. The partnership was coordinated by AIESEC France’s national team and delivered by 6 French Local Committees. Within this cooperation we wanted to send Arts et Métiers ParisTech’s students to one of these 6 countries: Hungary Greece Taiwan Malaysia Colombia Peru As this was the first edition of the partnership – we didn’t have a lot of knowledge about driving operations on this scale.
The piloting of this project resulted in sending 27 Arts et Métiers ParisTech’s students abroad, experiencing the Global Volunteer Program during the summer of 2016. Prior to their departure, the volunteers attended AIESEC France’s Preparation Seminar that covered all the different topics related to their experience abroad (details about their volunteering missions, logistics, arrival, cultural immersion, etc.). Amgad El-Feki from AIESEC in Belgium was the Chairman of this seminar. Evaluating the project, we realized that in order to increase the results, more Human Resources need to be assigned in the national team, better communication should be done berween AIESEC France, Arts et Métiers ParisTech and the AIESEC committees in the countries and territories of destionation. The project was reconducted for the term 2016-2017. We thank the French Local Committees that participated in the project: Bordeaux KEDGE ITSud Paris Lille Marseille Toulouse Sciences Po Paris

The Global Goals for Sustainable Development could accomplish this mission. In all countries. For all people. In the past year, AIESEC took concrete actions towards the realization of these goals and is fully engaged with the 2030 agenda. The initiative Youth for Global Goals was launched in February 2016. Visit youth4globalgoals.org for more details.
Youth Action Summit
33
AIESEC Youth Action Summit 2015 was held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City on 9-11 December 2015. Elie Chéhadé, President of AIESEC in France, represented the voice of the French Youth at The Summit. This year’s Summit was organized with the support of the Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth Ahmad Alhendawi (present in the summit) as part of its commitment to promote and stimulate meaningful youth participation in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. The purpose of the Summit was to bring together top young leaders with experts, government, business and thought leaders for a conversation around global youth issues and the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development. The Summit explored ways, opportunities, and partnerships for engaging young people from the AIESEC network in implementation of the sustainable development goals. The summit ended with a speech delivered by Mr. Jan Eliasson, Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and the declaration of AIESEC’s commitments to the Global Goals.

Financial Report
35
The biggest challenge AIESEC France faced during the term 2015-2016 was improving finances on the local level. We had many Local Committees that were in debt and since our financial model is based on national affiliation fees being paid by members without debt, this put pressure on the sustainable Committees to carry the burden for the rest of the Federation. Additionally, financial tracking on a local level was
quite poor and as a result many committees were failing the quarterly internal audit. Therefore, one of our strategic goals for the term was to optimize financial tracking for Local Committees and additionally downscale national level sales so that financially struggling entities could begin to climb out of debt. By the end of the term 20152016, all Local Committees in AIESEC France are debt free.
Main Actions: •Process optimization:
»»Applying and receiving grants from public sector Ministries; »»Determining a pricing structure for our exchange products; »»Investing in local level Organizational Development (coaching visits, summits etc.).
»»One week before each official quarterly internal audit, a Finance Manager reviewed a Pre-Audit submitted by each Local Committee so that all mistakes could be resolved. This resulted in 95% of all entities passing the audit compared to previously half; »»Downscaled 100% of Global Talent Special project (see page 23) to Local level; »»Voted a streamlined financial model (takes into account only two variables for the national affiliation fees: revenues earned and exchanges realized past 3 years) instead of five variables previously; »»Transitioning Local Committees accounting from Google Drive to online accounting with Wave.
•Financial education:
»»We developed an online resource hub that centralizes all Finance education material. We have presentations explaining the financial model, audit procedures, legal processes and tutorial videos explaining basic budgeting and our various tools; »»Local Finance managers have monthly calls, in addition, to get support from the Finance Manager in charge of audit.
•Strategic contribution of Finance:
»»Synergy with national level operations. Determining which products should be downscaled to Local level to ensure constant revenue flow;
