AIESEC Kenya Kuleana Festival The word KULEANA comes from a Swahili word LEA .It means


TO BRING, TOGETHER, TO GROW. The concept of KULEANA Festival is set up in order to bring a closer, in one space different cultures and diversity. In this space people will have a chance to discover and learn new things about other cultures. This is an event to engage diversified stakeholders together focusing on social issues of Kenya and seeking for solution with internal culture background.

OC Job Descriptions Position: Organizing Committee President (1 position) Duration: May 2013 – 1 month after the event Description: This person is responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of the event to ensure the smooth running and successful management of the event:  Be in main contact with the MC on updates about the event planning  Maintain a team of motivated individuals within the team through member tracking and proper training for their tasks  Maintain constant communication with the MC VPs and all the stakeholders of the events.  Work with MCVP and OCVP of Finance in preparing and maintaining the budget  Manage a team to accomplish the different aspects of the event.  Work with a team to see the completion of the event.  Other duties as needed Time Commitment: 6 – 8 hours a week (Please note that this is an average – the time commitment will increase closer to the event.) Skills      

Position: Vice President Sites and Logistics (1 position) Duration: May 2013 – 1 month after the event Description: This person is responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of the event to ensure the smooth running and successful management of the event:      

Management of overall logistics required for the event Procure and supervise service of food and beverage Procure audio visual and other technical equipment as needed Oversee onsite logistics including, but not limited to, set up and tear down, registration, and delegate servicing Work with a team to see the completion of the event Other duties as needed

Time Commitment: 5 – 7 hours a week (Please note that this is an average – the time commitment will increase closer to the event.) Skills       

Position: Vice President Finance (1 position) Duration: May 2013 – 1 month after the event Description: This person is responsible for maintaining all money related aspects of the event:       

Create and maintain a budget for the conference Monitor expenses and revenues Maintain accurate records of all transactions Record all cash flows Prepare monthly financial statements Work with a team to see the completion of the event Other duties as needed

Time Commitment: 3 – 4 hours a week (Please note that this is an average – the time commitment will increase closer to the event.) Skills     

Needed: Analytical and organized; self-motivated and self-driven; accountable; some knowledge of accounting; ability to work independently

Position: Vice President Sales (3 positions) Duration: May 2013 – 1 month after the event


Description: This person is responsible for networking with companies, increasing awareness of the event while raising funds:    

Identify and obtain sponsors for the event Oversee day to day management of all sponsor relations, fulfillment of agreements and maintains sponsor relationships Work with a team to see the completion of the event Other duties as needed

Time Commitment: 5 – 7 hours a week (Please note that this is an average – the time commitment will increase closer to the conference.) Skills       

Needed: Self motivated; strong interest in marketing; attention to detail; understanding and ability to articulate AIESEC to potential sponsors; Excellent knowledge on AIESEC Kenya branding policies. ability to think on your feet; negotiation skills; experience in event related fundraising an asset;

Position: Vice President of Communications (1 positions) Duration: May 2013 – 1 month after the event Description: This person is responsible for overseeing the communications between the organizing committee:    

Develop promotional materials for the event and working with the MCVP IM to ensure they are within brand guidelines. Communicate with all potential attendees of the events and ensure that a buzz is created around the event. Work with a team to see the completion of a the event Other duties as needed

Kuleana Festival 2013 Organizing Committee Application Please fill out the following information and submit to wei.na@aiesec.net and margaret.maina@aiesec.net no later than 11:59PM on 29th April 2013 for all OC positions. This application should not exceed 5 pages. Late applications shall not be considered. Kindly note: - The OC reviews shall be conducted on the 1st May 2013. - When selected into the OC you should avail yourself for OC training on the 3rd May 2013. This is Mandatory. Please attach a current competency assessment to this application. Interviews will be conducted the following week,
