A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A VOLUNTEER IN A GREEK SUMMER CAMP (Nhung Tran, University of Newcastle)
08.30 – Awake and rushing to get ready for breakfast with my room mates. 09.30– My morning shift begins by putting safety harnesses on children to ensure
their safety whilst they’re enjoying the extreme sports facilities provided by the camp not so easy when there are 2500 of them in camp!
12.30 – At lunch time the basic camp food is satisfying after the fulfilling morning shift.
13.00 – As the beach is only a 10 minutes walk away from camp, lunch breaks always meant beach time.
16.00 – Welcome back to work for the afternoon shift with delicious snacks, always my favourite meal of the day. Time to put on more safety harnesses and practice more Greek with the campers.
10
19.30 – Dinner time: standard camp food – pasta, burgers or hotdogs. 21.00 – it’s Sunday, which only means one thing: Parents Presentation time –
dressing up in our equipment to show what Team Extreme is all about. I once wore my traditional dress and skated on a long-board onto the stage.

ABOUT ITALY

free time. Sports in one of the 2 basketball courts, 2 volleyball courts, 3 football fields or 2 swimming pools, chatting away in the pool bar or even going to the nearby village to experience Greek culture outside of camp. 11

INTERVIEW ON EXPERIENCE IN EGYPT (Monica Narwani, University of the Arts London)
Why did you decide to participate in the GoGlobal programme with AIESEC? I wanted to be a part of an organization that gives me exposure to different cultures and people. How was your experience in Egypt? Egypt was an incredible experience: the people, the cities, the culture! Everything was incredible and so much more than I had expected! What project did you work on whilst you were on exchange? My main tasks were to explore the different cities in Egypt including all the incredible places in Cairo. The main outcome of my project was to create posters and visual material to appeal to general public, as many believe Egypt to be a dangerous place and don’t actually know how much of a beautiful destination it is. Why would you recommend the experience to other students in the UK? I would recommend the experience because it is an incredible opportunity to not only do good for the world but also improve your interpersonal skills and meet people from different countries.
