new seatbelt airbags in business class.” The website says this also means that parents with infants on their laps may also have to go back to “cattle class.”

Meanwhile, the introduction of new 787-9 Dreamliners has also meant a newThai Airways safety video.

The video takes the form of a pop up book, where colourful flowers and orchidssurround cabin crew members as they go through the safety instructions so thatthe whole video looks like it is taking place in an animated forest.

Reaction to the video in Thailand itself wasn’t universally positive. According to the Bangkok Post, some have criticised the video for not using native flora. Instead, many of the flowers and birds shown are actually from South America - something that would be lost to most casual viewers.

Academic Rungsit Kanjanavanit, quoted in the Bangkok Post said that “he wasnot an “extreme nationalist” but decided to air his opinion in order to remindpeople to be proud of Thailand’s natural beauty.”

According to the piece, one social media commentator made an unfavourablecomparison with Singapore Airlines videos, which promote the landmark andattractions of the city state.
