ABOUT ALETO FOUNDATION “Recent events on both sides of the Atlantic have highlighted the shallow privileged pool from which our leaders are drawn. For our country’s leaders to reflect the population at large and to take advantage of the widest range of views and experiences, we need to tackle the challenge of helping young men and women from less-privileged backgrounds to rise to the top.” Sir Kenneth Olisa OBE – Chair Our Solution...... To apply the power of those who have already achieved success to raise the ambitions and ease the path of those in the community who have not yet realised their full potential. The Aleto Foundation is rooted in its belief in four core values:1. Obligation to give back: All members of society have an obligation to contribute to the greater good. This universal obligation should be discharged in proportion to the scale and nature of an individual's resources. 2. Equality of opportunity: All people should have equal access to opportunities for personal advancement irrespective of their colour, race or gender. 3. Inclusiveness: The work of the Aleto Foundation is planned, resourced, managed, delivered and received by the most appropriate people, irrespective of their colour, race, religion or gender. 4. Power of community: Society's whole is greater than the sum of its parts and the Aleto Foundation will only achieve its vision by forging partnerships between its many constituents and external bodies.

THE ANNUAL BALL IS ESSENTIALLY A FUNDRAISING EVENT FOR ALETO FOUNDATION

WHY Aleto Foundation •

Our ambition is to bring leadership to many more young people nationwide and to create accessible pathways for those from disadvantaged backgrounds, from secondary school through to employment.

Young people can take leadership roles, however leadership development has focused almost exclusively on adult leadership - There is an urgent need to develop young leaders irrespective of their colour, race or gender .

National leadership gap: Whatever lens you use – from sport to politics – it is evident that we have a problem with leadership. The men and women in control are drawn from a narrow privileged pool.

Need to access less-privileged talent: For our country’s leaders to reflect the population at large and to take advantage of the widest range of views and experiences we need to tackle the challenge of helping young men and women from less-privileged backgrounds to rise to the top.

“Sharing success with tomorrow’s leaders”: The Aleto Foundation’s motto of “Sharing success with tomorrow’s leaders” is our response to this challenge. Our successful annual flagship Leadership Programme exposes young people to today’s leaders in business, politics, media and philanthropy and gives them a short sharp confidence boost to propel them towards their goals – academic, vocational or otherwise.’

Successful model: So far over 300 young people have graduated from our leadership programme and the leadership skills they have developed has been a “Life-Changing” experience.

From prototype to full solution: We have prototyped the programme with cohorts of African and Caribbean high achieving university undergraduates and we are now ready to extend and scale up our reach.

Sponsor benefits: Guests get the twin benefits of access to this pool of otherwise undiscovered talent and the satisfaction of helping to improve the quality of UK leadership.
