This assignment covers Grading Criteria from the following units: Unit 69 Concept Art for Computer Games Learning Outcomes 2 - Be able to explore the potential of drawing media Learning Outcome 3 - Be able to draw anatomy, environment and object concept art for computer games Learning Outcomes 4 - Be able to present concept artwork for computer games. AIM & PURPOSE Game design is about daydreams. But such dreams must be visualised and these images must be communicated to team members and managers for further development. The games industry uses images for many reasons, from convincing us to purchase the game with attentiongrabbing posters and eye-catching packaging. You must be able to communicate your vision to artists, programmers, producers, marketing staff and others involved in the development process, and accept feedback on your work. The aim of this unit is to develop learners’ practical skills in drawing game concept art. Learners will examine how concept art is used within computer games you will use a variety of drawing media to develop skills in observational drawing. You will use these skills to help you visualise imagined characters, objects and locations for a game concept and will reflect on the quality of their work. THE ASSIGNMENT This assignment gives you the student an opportunity to use a variety of media to develop your skills and ability in observational drawing to incorporate formal elements into your drawings to show the use of line, shape, form, colour, pattern and texture. You will also need to show that you have the ability to reflect critically on your own work - a skill that any budding concept artist needs in abundance. You are to create concept art portfolio that explore characters and related environment(s) for a computer game concept of your own choosing. You are to experiment with a range of different mediums following industry standard workflow of initial idea - thumbnail sketches colour variations, composition and final piece (size dependant on your chosen method . You are required to reflect and evaluate on each medium and method used, your development of ideas and final piece, peer feedback should be evidenced clearly.

Special Edition Part 2 Overview You are a concept artist and have been tasked with producing a portfolio of character object and environment game art. You must show skills in a variety of different mediums and show a clear process of development up to your chosen final piece(s). You must also analyse your own work commenting on your own skills development and final outcomes.
