Our roots Domino’s Pizza was founded in the United States in 1960 by a man called Tom Monaghan. With $500 in his pocket, Tom joined forces with his brother and together they opened a pizza delivery store in Ypsilanti, Michigan. They named it DomiNicks. A year later, Tom traded his Volkswagen Beetle car for his brother’s share of the store and later renamed his business Domino’s Pizza. The three dots on our logo represent the three stores that Tom originally planned to open. Through a little known format now called franchising, Tom enabled other people to invest in opening their own Domino’s Pizza stores. By doing so he expanded the Domino’s chain right around the globe, creating the world’s leading pizza delivery company. He retired in 1998, giving the majority of the $1bn he made through the sale of Domino’s to charity. As well as instilling a commitment to outstanding product, service, image and safety, Tom also encouraged all Domino’s Pizza
franchisees to foster positive relationships with the communities they served, delivering local people something more than just great-tasting pizza. A promise to uphold this commitment to the community is something that Domino’s Pizza still actively seeks from its franchisees today. Today there are more than 10,000 Domino’s Pizza stores worldwide in more than 80+ countries, employing over 180,000 team members and involving over 2,000 franchisees. Globally Domino’s Pizza delivers more than one million pizzas every day. Domino’s Pizza opened its first UK store in Luton in 1985 and in the Republic of Ireland the first store opened in 1991, in Dublin. In 2010, Domino’s Pizza celebrated its 50th anniversary globally and its 25th anniversary in the UK.
In 2011, Domino’s Pizza UK & Ireland purchased a 75% stake in the master franchise for Domino’s Pizza Germany and in 2012 the company brought the rights to own and operate stores in Switzerland. There are currently 825 stores in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Germany and Switzerland (as at 30 June 2013). Of these, 634 stores are in England, 51 are in Scotland, 33 are in Wales, 20 are in Northern Ireland, one is on the Isle of Man, three are mobile units, 48 are in the Republic of Ireland, 25 are in Germany and 10 are in Switzerland. In the UK and Ireland we are working towards our goal of opening 1,200 stores by 2021. Further expansion is also planned in our German and Swiss markets.

Our charity of choice Domino’s Pizza has selected Rays of Sunshine as its current charity of choice. Rays of Sunshine is a children’s charity that grants wishes to terminally ill children between the ages of three to 18. The charity began in 2003 and so far has granted over 2,300 wishes. These wishes can be anything from sending a child to watch their favourite football team, arranging for them to meet a famous pop star or simply granting them a trip to a theme park. The charity grants hospital ward wishes and arranges events for large groups of children. Rays of Sunshine also holds an annual fundraising concert called the Sunshine Concert, which is held at the Royal Albert Hall and sees a wealth of pop stars perform. This charity touches the lives of thousands of seriously ill children and our aim is to help them grant as many wishes as possible.
At Domino’s we know the value of being an integral part of the local community and one of the ways we build local relationships is through running school tours in our stores. On a school tour, a group of children will be given a guided tour of the store and a chance to make their own pizza. It proves an educational and fun visit for any child. Domino’s Pizza responds to hundreds of requests every year from organisations seeking help and sponsorship. Often we provide this through free pizza vouchers to raffle or auction for their causes. Some of our franchisees sell pizza at events for charity or choose to raise money in many innovative ways.
To read more about Rays of Sunshine please visit www. raysofsunshine.org.uk Other charities that Domino’s supports are Special Olympics Great Britain, the Northern’s Ireland’s Children’s Hospice and Barretstown in the Republic of Ireland. Special Olympics Great Britain is the country’s largest provider of a year-round sports training and competition programme for all people with learning disabilities. The Northern Ireland’s Children’s Hospice is a charity which provides specialist care to children and young people who suffer with life-limiting illness. Its aim is to provide the best quality of life for its patients and their families in the Hospice and in the community. In the Republic of Ireland, Domino’s Pizza supports Barretstown, the children’s charity which provides a medically endorsed programme of arts, adventure and fun activities for children with serious illnesses. In November 2010, Domino’s joined forces with Pennies, the electronic charity box. This system was installed into all Domino’s stores and customers who order online are now given the option of rounding up their order and donating their spare change to charity. A percentage of all money raised goes to Rays of Sunshine and Special Olympics Great Britain, with the money in Northern Ireland going to the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.
Our structure Domino’s Pizza Group (DPG) is what’s known as a ‘Master Franchisee’. This means that Domino’s Pizza LLC (the big cheese, based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA) has granted DPG exclusive rights to own, operate and franchise Domino’s Pizza stores in the UK, Ireland, Germany and Switzerland. In turn, DPG awards the right to operate local Domino’s Pizza stores to entrepreneurs (franchisees) who, once approved, have to pay a minimum of around £280,000 to own their Domino’s Pizza business. Franchisees are both DPG’s customers and business partners. It is DPG’s job to support franchisees in their efforts to run profitable local Domino’s Pizza businesses and to ensure that high brand standards are achieved at all stores. To do this, DPG employs a team of over 450 team members who work in a range of store support functions at locations in the UK (Milton Keynes and Penrith), Ireland (Naas), Germany (Dusseldorf) and Switzerland (Zurich). These functions include: management, dough production, ingredients and equipment purchasing and supply, training, operations, IT, marketing, PR, finance, HR, property, franchise sales, leasing, transport, warehousing and administration.
Domino’s Pizza UK & Ireland Limited DPG is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Domino’s Pizza Group plc and is a FTSE 250 company listed on the main market of the London Stock Exchange.

Our performance Domino’s Pizza Group has an impressive track record in the UK and Ireland. Its real success in these markets began in the mid 1990s when the master franchise for the brand was acquired by the Halpern brothers, who had enjoyed a long and successful track record in franchising. Through the brothers’ creation of Milton Keynes based Domino’s Pizza Group, and with the backing of a strong leadership team, the company’s franchisees benefited from hands-on support and a structure that allowed for close management of the brand and the system.
Five year performance Domino’s Pizza UK and Ireland plc has an impressive track record of profitable growth.

Our innovations Domino’s Pizza is widely recognised as the pioneer of the pizza delivery concept. Over the years, we have invented, or been first to use, most of the equipment and systems now used as standard by our industry. We believe that taking an innovative and enterprising approach to business will help us to strengthen our market leadership. We are always on the lookout for innovations that improve our product and service and make our customers’ lives easier.
Equipment
Pizza Tracker
Fresh and delicious pizza has always been a priority at Domino’s Pizza. Domino’s was the first to use a fibreglass tray for dough, which simplified dough handling and ensured better preservation. Domino’s was the innovator behind the sturdy, corrugated pizza box, which prevents moisture from making the box soggy and stops the cheese sticking to the top during delivery. A delicious, crisp crust is one of the most important parts of the pizza. In search of the perfect crust, Domino’s developed the pizza screen, a mesh tray that helps cook the pizza base more evenly than a tray made of wood or stainless steel.
In October 2009, to celebrate 10 years of online ordering, the Pizza Tracker was launched. This allows web customers in the UK and Republic of Ireland to see exactly where their pizza is at any time prior to delivery. Customers using the tracker can see a changing display that shows the order has arrived at the store, when it is in the oven, when it is ready for collection or on the road and when it’s been safely delivered and the driver is back in the store. The tracker takes the angst out of those customers who have to know that their order has been received, cooked and despatched.
Today it’s hard to miss pizza delivery cars – thanks to Domino’s. Domino’s invented the 3-D car-top sign, which is currently used by a variety of industries, including taxis and driving schools.
iPhone / Android App / Windows Phone 7 App
Hotter Delivery Domino’s HeatWave™ delivery bags were introduced to the UK in October 2000. Each heated hot bag contains a patented disc that is warmed by electricity. Once inserted into a special bag, this technology creates a ‘portable oven’ that minimises heat loss during delivery. The outer material of the bag is made with water-repellent nylon and inside the bag is 3M Thinsulate material, which eliminates unwanted moisture, keeping pizzas both hot and fresh.
E-Commerce In 1999, Domino’s Pizza became the first pizza delivery company in the world to offer nationwide internet ordering. Delivered pizza can be ordered via our website www.dominos. co.uk in the UK, www.dominos.ie in the Republic of Ireland, www.dominos.de in Germany and www.dominos.sch in Switzerland. At the end of December 2012, online sales accounted for 55.7% of UK delivered orders. Additionally, in April 2008, Domino’s launched an innovative new ‘Real Time’ monitoring system to measure service performance in order to get pizza ‘out-thedoor’ in the minimum amount of time. This industry leading initiative helps boost customer service levels at Domino’s nationwide, and insures we can deliver piping-hot pizza to our customers as quickly as it is safe to do so.
In August 2010, we launched an iPhone app for our customers. This app has a pizza slot machine feature, whereby if the customer is unable to decide what they would like on their pizza, they can shake their phone and let the app choose them some toppings. They can press hold and keep them or shake again until they get something they like. The app also has the facility to link in with the real-time pizza tracker, so users can keep tabs on the progress of their pizza. This was shortly followed by the Android app which was launched in May 2011. The Android app has the same features as the iPhone app. You can download Domino’s free apps from the Apple App Store and Android Market. Also, in 2012, Domino’s introduced the Windows Phone 7 ordering app.
Our innovations Delight Mozzarella
Domino’s Dominator™
Domino’s Pizza is the only national pizza company to offer a reduced fat cheese. Delight Mozzarella has 33% less fat than ordinary mozzarella, giving customers a healthier choice.
In 2005, we launched the Dominator, domino’s version of a stuffed base using our regular and thin crust dough, infused with cheese and herb sauce.
Double Decadence™
Domino’s Stuffed Crust™
In November 2004, Domino’s launched the UK’s first doubledecker pizza, Double Decadence. This luxurious pizza has two thin and crispy bases sandwiched together with a creamy cheese and herb sauce or a basil pesto sauce* (*launched 2010).
In June 2011, Domino’s Stuffed Crust went on sale. This new mouth watering addition to the menu features mozzarella cheese with a hint of garlic and herbs in Domino’s famous fresh dough. The Domino’s Stuffed Crust is available on all medium and large pizzas and can be purchased in all UK stores.
Gluten Free In November 2012, Domino’s launched a gluten free pizza base and was UK’s first major pizza delivery chain to provide a pizza which is suitable for coeliacs and those who are gluten-intolerant. Following numerous requests from the general public, Domino’s has spent great time over perfecting this base, seeking a supplier that meets with the brand’s high standards for both quality and taste. Accredited by Coeliac UK, the national charity for people with coeliac disease, Domino’s gluten-free pizza base is suitable for those who are allergic to dairy or lactose intolerant, and as all Domino’s pizzas are made to order from scratch, it can be ordered without cheese to provide a dairy-free pizza.
Our food At Domino’s, the pizza is the hero and we work hard with our suppliers and follow the seasons around the world to ensure that we offer the finest quality ingredients Mother Nature can provide. The pizza story starts with fresh dough, produced in our three supply chain centres in Milton Keynes, Penrith and Naas in the Republic of Ireland. Take this as your foundation and add delicious vine-ripened tomato sauce and 100% mozzarella cheese for the classic Domino’s cheese and tomato pizza. From there, we have a range of toppings from pepperoni to pineapple and sweetcorn to sausage, so customers can have their pizza just how they like it. With a choice of bases, sauces, cheese and toppings – there are over 100 million different ways to customise a Domino’s pizza. First, choose a base – from our range including classic hand tossed, thin crust, Double Decadence, Dominator, Stuffed Crust or Gluten Free. Next, choose a sauce – traditional vine-ripened tomato, barbeque or sundried tomato and garlic Then, pick a cheese – always 100% mozzarella, but it’s the customer’s choice between our traditional mozzarella or Delight mozzarella with the same great taste, but a third less fat Finally, pick some toppings from the wide range of delicious items on our menu. As well as delicious, freshly made pizzas, Domino’s also offeres a range of tasty side dishes such as chicken strippers, kickers, wings, garlic pizza bread and potato wedges, as well as desserts including cookies, waffles and ice-cream.
Our Supply Chain Centres
We believe it’s important to offer our customers a wide range of information with regard to our food too, which is why we set up the Take a Fresh Look website at www.takeafreshlook.co.uk On this site, we provide full details of the ingredients and nutrition in our products, as well as all relevant allergen information. Take a Fresh Look also focuses on the heroes that provide our food with a range of short films about some of the raw ingredients including 100% mozzarella cheese, pepperoni and onions, as well as a wealth of other facts and figures to Domino’s ingredients. Pizza can be part of a balanced diet and the average Domino’s customer only orders once a month. To help all our customers balance their diets, we’ve also included some helpful hints and tips on the Take a Fresh Look website. In 2012, Domino’s signed up to the Department of Health’s Responsibility Deal and committed to six pledges. The food pledges are centred around reducing salt and providing calorie information to our customers. For details on the pledges we have signed and for information on our environmental policy, please log onto www. takeafreshlook.co.uk. Food is precious and should be treated with respect and we will always make sure that a Domino’s pizza has the best quality ingredients, brought together by skilled pizza makers, to keep supplying our customers with delicious, piping-hot pizza every time.
To allow Domino’s stores to concentrate on making and delivering pizzas, we have a network of supply chain centres, situated in Milton Keynes, Penrith, Naas in the Republic of Ireland and a smaller centre in Berlin in Germany. This relieves stores from long hours making dough, grating cheese and preparing toppings. Today, the supply chain centres production and distribution facilities provide high quality fresh dough and ingredients to all stores, keeping the company’s pizza consistently delicious.
All our supply chain centres are responsible for delivering fresh products to our stores every week. Other pizza and food service companies across the world have adopted this same system. We are expanding our supply chain centres to ensure we have the infrastructure in place to support our goal of opening 1,200 stores by 2021.
Domino’s around the world Unique Toppings Pepperoni may be a popular topping in the UK and Ireland, but tastes are obviously different around the world… take a look at what’s popular in other parts of the world: • Iberico pork, teriyaki chicken, mayonnaise, corn and lobster (Japan) • Sweet potato mousse (Korea) • Paneer (Indian cottage cheese), lamb (India) • Black bean sauce (Guatemala) • Jerk chicken and pork (the Bahamas) • Anchovies (Caribbean) • Capsicum (Australia) • Eggplant (Israel) • Peapods (China) • Créme fraîche (France) • Grilled lamb (shoarma meat) and yogurt garlic sauce (Netherlands)
International Facts In Saudi Arabia, stores must work around four prayer times a day, each lasting for 12 – 45 minutes. During prayer times, all businesses close. In the Virgin Islands, drivers use landmarks for addresses because the streets have no names. When we opened our first store in Japan in 1985, there was not a word in the Japanese language for pepperoni. Now pepperoni is one of the most embraced toppings in Japan. Buildings in Japan are not numbered sequentially, instead addresses are numbered by the order in which buildings were built. This makes for interesting delivery and training for our drivers. Opening week in St. Kitts in March 2007 produced 4,200 orders, with 4,115 pizzas sold! Quito in Ecuador is a city of 1.5 million people located 2,800 metres (about 9,186 feet) above sea level in the Andes Mountains. It has the highest elevation in Latin America delivering Domino’s Pizza.
Pizza Combinations In Korea, the “Potato Pizza” is a big seller. Toppings include potato, onions, bacon mushrooms, corn pepperoni, extra cheese and mayonnaise. In Russia, they have a Bombay Curry pizza. Toppings include tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, ham, pineapple, chicken and a curry sauce drizzle. In France, Domino’s has a Saumoneta pizza with light crème fraîche, mozzarella, onions, potatoes, smoked salmon and dill. Also in France the fromage has it with the popular “Four Cheese” pizza topped with goat’s cheese, emmental, blue cheese and mozzarella. Taiwan’s top selling pizza is a seafood delight with onions, peas, squid, shrimp and crab. Customers in Iceland can now be seen enjoying the Blue Ocean pizza, which consists of artichokes, garlic, tuna and shrimp with a sundried tomato and garlic sauce. Pizza lovers in Australia don’t skimp on the toppings with the popular Pan Supreme Pizza. This best seller includes cheese, mushrooms, onions, pepperoni, pineapple, ham, beef and capsicum, which is a type of chilli pepper. For meat lovers, Australia’s Seven Meats Pizza with salami, beef, ham, shredded cotto, Italian sausage, shredded bacon and seasoned chicken on BBQ sauce is sure to be a winner. Egg is a unique topping on the Aussie pizza, along with bacon, onions and tomato on a BBQ sauce. The Chapina Pizza in Guatemala is topped with black beans, onions and Italian sausage. In Spain, not to be outdone, offers a five-cheese pizza with mozzarella, provolone, Cheddar, parmesan and blue cheeses. The States was then inspired to add yet another cheese to the mix with its Wisconsin Six Cheese pizza, topped with mozzarella, feta, provolone, Cheddar, parmesan and Asiago.
The first Domino’s Pizza store in Jamaica sold 6,000 pizzas in its first 16 days. Delivery scooters in the Netherlands are not allowed on the roads. Instead they use designated bike routes, which are often quicker than travel on the roadways.
In the Virgin Islands, drivers use landmarks for addresses because the streets have no names.
