END OF MODULE SELF-EVALUATION NAME

Alex Dyson

1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them? Throughout this module I have developed myself as a professional creative and grown a lot of confidence in both my creative work and myself. Confidence has been a useful tool for both pitching to clients and talking to people in general, applying this to real life situations has landed me with opportunities of work and professional friendships.

2. What approaches to/methods of design production have you developed and how have they informed your design development process? The majority of design production completed in this module centres around my personal branding. This revolved around screen printing, cutting and finishing and use of stock. Other than these physical elements, web design follows suit with these finished products to show a professional consistent series of branding.

3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these? I think my biggest strengths in this work is the branding and identity for myself. I believe this is the best work because of my love and interest for the practice anyway which helped me create a contextually relevant outcome with an execution I am proud of and an image I see myself keeping until my degree ends. Next time I would give myself more time to get professional photos done of everything before the deadline, instead I am going to take a professional photoshoot to show the work on my website next week. Time management is key.

4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these in the future? The weaknesses I can see in my work are probably the lack of communication I have had with the outside world in relation to studios and designers, I have been working myself so hard I haven’t given the time to talk and network with people. This is paramount to me for the rest of summer and next year too.

5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these? Next time I would first give myself a lot more time to complete a larger series of printed collateral even though what I have now is exactly what I need, nothing more and nothing less. I would also spend more money to commission a better finish to my business cards, something I’d be very proud to hand over and even more so than now. I have more to add to my website so even though it is live and working, I would of preferred to finish it completely before making it live. Next I must sort a blog out and further information about myself.

6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas: (please indicate using an ‘x’) 5= excellent, 4 = very good, 3 = good, 2 = average, 1 = poor 1 2 3 4 5 x Attendance x Punctuality x Motivation x Commitment x Quantity of work produced x Quality of work produced x Contribution to the group The evaluation of your work is an important part of the assessment criteria and represents a percentage of the overall grade. It is essential that you give yourself enough time to complete your written evaluation fully and with appropriate depth and level of self-reflection. If you have any questions relating to the self evaluation process speak to a member of staff as soon as possible.
