Charity Begins in Youth
he 34th “Mercy for Mankind” Charity Challenge of Majlis Khuddam-ulAhmadiyya UK took place in the scenic Rother Valley, Sheffield on 8 July 2018. Approximately 1,000 members of the Jamaat gathered from across the UK to practice the Islamic teachings of serving humanity by raising funds for British charities. The event was well attended with youth taking part in various challenges including half a marathon, cycling, raft race and a shorter 3 kilometer running course for Atfal-ul-Ahmadiyya. The Charity Challenge is unique in the sense that it is entirely organised and managed by the youth, who are unpaid volunteers driven by the spirit of fulfilling their core Islamic duty to serve humanity. Farooq Aftab, event organiser and Naib Sadr Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya UK said: “The weather was behind us and we had a great turnout with over 700 British Muslims raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for British charities. We have been inspired by the true teachings of Islam and we hope that by raising funds for the needy, without any distinction of faith, colour or creed, this event will serve a dual purpose of not only helping charitable causes but also reminding Muslims and non-Muslims alike that Islam and its founder stood firmly for peace and unity within humanity.” The event had humble beginnings which started in 1985 as a marathon walk, but today
it has evolved into a nationwide showpiece event which encourages Khuddam and Atfal to raise money for those who are less fortunate.
The Mercy4Mankind Charity Challenge is named after the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in light of the Holy Quran,
which uses the term Rahmatun-lil-‘Alamin (Mercy for all of mankind) to describe a major part of his responsibility. The event’s Continued on page 3

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmadas, In His Own Words
Act of Charity
The Last Community of God
Hazrat Abu Dhar, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be on him, said: “In the morning charity is due from every bone in the body of every one of you. Every utterance of Allah's glorification is an act of charity. Every utterance of His praise is an act of charity, every profession of His Oneness is an act of charity, every utterance of His Greatness is an act of charity, enjoining good is an act of charity, forbidding what is distreputable is an act of charity, and two rak‘aat which one prays in the forenoon will suffice.”
You are the last community of God, so practice virtue at its best. Anyone of you who becomes slothful will be cast out of the community like a foul thing and will die in regret and will be able to do no harm to God. I gladly inform you that your God truly exists. Though all are His creation, but He chooses the one who chooses Him. He comes to the one who goes to Him. He bestows honour upon him who honours Him. Approach God with sincere hearts, and pure tongues, eyes and ears, for He will then accept you.

The Right Choice?
Friday 13 July 2018 | AL HAKAM
This Week in History 13 – 19 July
is said to be coming up with some ridicuIndonesia lous ideas in terms of its law-making ventures. In states like Indonesia, where law is slightly more
than just a joke, the legislative bodies have to find some kind of activity to justify their positions and salaries. So what we have now from these law-making bodies is a set of laws which seems to be aiming at bringing Islam into the equation of every move they make; law has to be sacred, after all. This again follows a pattern of nations that have seen utter failure in the field of law; when the nation’s collective psychology rejects law, it is cloaked in verses of holy scriptures. Pakistan, Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia are the first few that come to mind when talking of such lawless nations. Indonesia has recently thought of introducing a “halal” refrigerator. One would think that such a fridge would be exclusively reserved for storing halal food, but that happens to not be the case; this fridge is being advertised to be sharia-compliant. How far will these socalled Muslim nations fall to invite mockery and shame to their faith? This “halal” tag on the refrigerator might only have been a marketing stunt, but Indonesia is looking to introduce laws from October next year which would like to see most items, even service-providers, being sharia-compliant or even halal-certified. What items would be “baptised” under this law is not specified but speculations suggest that it is deemed to go beyond edible goods and take in its fold inedible goods – like refrigerators – and even professional services like consultancy and advice. Such legislations of such countries do not deserve an editorial, but what makes us spill this ink on the editorial column is the reaction shown by the Western media. Otherwise esteemed journals, like The Economist, decided to pick up on this news-story and prove how thoughtless Indonesia has been in its law-making process. The Economist of 29 June found it extremely unreasonable that Indonesia prosecuted some cartoonists who had been mischievous enough to have made memes of Indonesian politicians; that the law in Indonesia punishes – under anti-pornography laws – someone who performs indecent acts in public; that Indonesia sees someone who harms the environment as a terrorist is seen unreasonable by the Western media; that plausibility of all such broad-brush rules could allow more protestors to take to the streets is rightly identified by the Human Rights Watch. What surprises us is that the Indonesian government’s backing the persecution of hundreds of thousands of its Ahmadi citizens at the hands of the anti-Ahmadiyya circles has never caught the attention of these political analysts and social scientists who take themselves to be touchstones of morality, ethics and socio-political correctness. A refrigerator being branded as “halal” gets a whole page awarded to it in The Economist, but the brutal and inhumane treatment of a large number of innocent citizens – only for what they believe in – never seems to get to these great giants of publicity and propaganda. The hand behind the persecution of Ahmadis in Indonesia – and the indifference of the government – is that of the extremist so-called Muslim ulema who have been imported into the country from Pakistan. This infectious, contiguous and malignant product (the extremist mullahs) is now spreading throughout the world and playing an instrumental role in the radicalisation of the youth, especially so in the West. Rather than worry about halal refrigerators, the Western media would do better to identify the actual problems that arise from such countries and spread to all parts of the world. 14 July 1894: The Promised Messiah’sas Arabic book Sirr-ul-Khilafa was published on this day. In it, Huzooras discusses the difference that exists between the Sunnis and the Shiites on the issue of Khilafat after the Holy Prophetsa and gave very convincing proof of the fact that all four Khulafa of Islam were the rightly guided Khalifas, and that Hazrat Abu Bakrra was the best of them all and like a second Adam for Islam. He has taken up the objections that the Shiites raise against the first three Khulafa and has answered them at some length. He calls upon those who differ with him on this view, for a prayer duel. He also explains the prophecy about the appearance of Mahdi and proves his own claim to be that person. The reason why this book was written in Arabic was to expose the hollowness of the claim of his opponents to the learned people. The main part of the book is in Arabic with an announcement in Urdu. At the end of the book, Hazrat Ahmadas has appealed to them that they should not make decisions about him in haste. He also explains the nature of angels. 14 July 1903: On this day, Hazrat Sahibzada Syed Abdul Lateefra was martyred in a barbaric way in Kabul, Afghanistan. It was a Tuesday. He was a very revered person and had tens of thousands of followers. He was so respected that the ruler of country invited him at his coronation to perform the
Hazrat Sahibzada Syed Abdul Lateef Shaheedra
crowning ceremony. He had read some of the books of the Promised Messiahas that made a deep impression on him. He visited Qadian in 1902 to have an audience with Hazrat Ahmadas. He accepted Ahmadiyyat in his first meeting with the Promised Messiahas. He immensely enjoyed the company of the Promised Messiahas so much so that he decided to stay in Qadian a little longer. During his stay, he received revelations repeatedly forewarning him to be prepared to sacrifice himself for Ahmadiyyat. Eventually he went back to Afghanistan with Huzoor’s consent. He was buried up to his waist in the ground and stoned. The stoning continued until his soul departed from his body and returned to Allah. On his martyrdom, the Promised Messiah(as) expressed
his grief in the following words: “O Abdul Lateef, may you be blessed thousands of times as you proved your sincerity in my lifetime … This was a most merciless killing that has no match in this age. What folly has this Amir committed that he has ruined himself by his merciless killing of such an innocent person. O land of Afghanistan, bear witness that a grave offence has been committed in you. O unfortunate land, you have fallen in the estimation of God in that this great tragedy was enacted in you.” The country has been in turmoil ever since Hazrat Sahibzada Sahibra was martyred. 14 July 1907: The Promised Messiahas went to Batala from Qadian to receive his family members as they returned from Lahore after ten days. 15 July 1890: The Promised Messiahas was in Ludhiana, and details of his poor health emerge from reading the letters he sent in those days. 15-17 July 1901: The Promised Messiahas went to Gurdaspur courts for legal proceedings of the Wall Case. In early 1900, Mirza Imam Din, a cousin of Hazrat Ahmadas, began to erect a brick wall to block the lane which led to the south entrance of Masjid Mubarak. Ahmad’sas visitors and guests were all inconvenienced. If they wanted to offer prayers in the mosque or see Hazrat Ahmadas, they had to take a long winding way with which they were not familiar. As the direct and most frequently used way was now completely blocked, Hazrat Ahmadas was practically besieged by his enemies. In short, all efforts from the Ahmadiyya camp failed to solve the dire situation. Finally, a legal case was put forward. On this day, Hazrat Ahmadas was summoned as a defense witness. Huzooras left Qadian in a palanquin at about 7am on 15 July 1901. Hazrat Maulvi Nuruddinra, Hazrat Sheikh Yaqub Ali Irfanira and other friends got into yakkas (horse-pulled carts) to go to Gurdaspur via Batala, while Hazrat Ahmadas went direct and reached there at about 3pm. As requested by Maulvi Muhammad Ali Sahib, the party stayed at the house of his father-inlaw, Munshi Nabi Bakhsh Sahib. Khawaja Kamaluddin Sahib came from Peshawar in the evening. It was very hot and Hazrat Ahmadas was not feeling very well, so he could not sleep the whole night. Huzooras left for the court at about 10am on the 16th and stopped at the south-eastern corner of the pakka tank in front of the courts as they were situated then. There were about 40 persons in the party. As Hazrat Ahmadas sat there on a carpet waiting for the court call, the multitude flocked to see him from all directions. In a few minutes the hearing of the case began and Khawaja Kamaluddin Sahib and Maulvi Muhammad Ali Sahib – pleaders in the case – went in. After the statements of Bur Singh and Sant Singh who were defense witnesses, Hazrat Ahmadas presented his statement in court. 18 July 1900: The Promised Messiahas wrote a letter to Miyan Shadi Khan Sahibra lauding his financial sacrifice and termed it a sacrifice akin to the sacrifices of the Holy Prophet’ssa Companionsra. 18 July 1947: Hazrat Dr Mir Muhammad Ismailra passed away. He was younger brother of Hazrat Amma Janra. The Promised Messiahas was foretold that he would be appointed as an “assistant surgeon” while he was still a student in medical college. He stood first in the Punjab in the final examination from Medical College Lahore and was appointed as Assistant Surgeon. He was appointed as Civil Surgeon in 1928 and retired in 1936. A deep sense of spirituality can be felt from his prose and poetry.

has now become common to see IaimtKhuddam holding long walks with the of raising funds to support not only the
various causes within the Jamaat but also to support the causes of other charities all around the world. Such walks that have now taken a modern and well-established outlook have its roots in very humble beginnings. The annual walk of Jamia Ahmadiyya Continued from page 1
tagline, “Every act of goodness is charity” is a saying of the Prophet Muhammadsa who emphasised and encouraged charitable efforts towards all humanity. The event also aims to instil a habit and understanding amongst the Ahmadiyya youth about the importance of struggling for those who are less fortunate. Besides the annual flagship event, the Mercy4Mankind campaign consists of many national challenges such as 5K and 10K events, Half-Marathons, rides, hikes and so on. However, the Mercy4Mankind initiative is also encouraging regionally based events such as the Fundraising Dinners, 24-hour Football and the Football4Peace Tournament. The fundraising activities involve direct fundraising for charities through individual collections and through joint collaborations and partnerships with other charities such as holding joint events, marshalling, and bucket and store collections. Over the past 18 months the youth organisation has raised more than £500,000 for Humanity First and raised money to build 5 schools in Africa, (during this Ramadan) more than 400 eye operations and the installation of 20 water-wells in Africa. The Mercy4Mankind campaign will carry on throughout the year and InshaAllah continue to serve humanity.
in Rabwah was one of the main events on their sports calendar. Students had to walk a distance of about 150 miles, not hitch-hike, make arrangements for overnight stays and live all through the course of the walk on a very little quantity of food that they were allowed to carry along with them. The primary objective of such walks (or “on-foot journey” to literally translate “paidal safar” as it was termed) was to inculcate endurance, perseverance, economy, resilience, planning, management, independence and trust in Allah; the essential ingredients of a true soldier. Syed Mir Daud Ahmad Sahib (Principal Jamia Ahmadiyya Rabwah, 1957-1973) initiated this walk and would ensure that every student took part in this walk. He would himself patrol the route in a car, not only to monitor that every student was taking part but also to ensure their wellbeing. Maulana Muhammad Ahmad Jalil Sahib (then a teacher at Jamia Ahmadiyya Rabwah and later Mufti-e-Silsila) once recalled these walks in the following words: “The toughest of such physical exertions is the 150-mile walk that every student has to undertake at least once during their time in Jamia. It becomes demanding enough with the strict conditions. Most students would get back in a pitiful condition; swollen feet and ankles, sores on soles for many days. If teachers or students ever complained about the level of exertion, Mir Sahib would reply by saying that those students were going to become missionaries, and missionaries had to go through challenging phases in life,
hence the need to inculcate endurance; lest they fell short in such times.” Mirza Naseer Ahmad Sahib, teacher and superintendent of Jamia Ahmadiyya UK Hostel, was a student at Jamia Ahmadiyya Rabwah in 1969. He very fondly recalls this 150-mile walk: “Mir Daud Ahmad Sahib was our principal. He lived by the theory that missionaries should be able to endure all types of hardships, so he initiated this journey on-foot for students to undertake at least once during the seven-year course of Jamia. “I remember that we all set off at around 8 o’clock in the morning from Rabwah, and walking through Chiniot, then Pindi Bhattian through to Sukheki; walked to Sangla Hill, then to Shahkot, and then via Khorianwala and Faisalabad after which we headed back to Rabwah. This took me three days and two nights. “All we were allowed to carry with us was half-a-kilo of food items, which could be any type of edible items. We were allowed to eat it in one go or to spread it over the course of the journey. We would have only five rupees with us but that was only for emergency purposes. We were not allowed to use it. Only 25 paisas could be utilised should our lives be in danger due to lack of food or water; this, however would invalidate any position in the race. “We would sleep in open corridors of markets or inns if they so allowed and if they let us in. It was not permitted to stay with a relative or even at the local Jamaat’s as there was a good chance that the local
Jamaat would naturally be hospitable, killing the whole idea behind this journey. We could not ask for a lift, or help of any kind from anyone, however, if there arose an opportunity to earn some money through labour, then we could earn it and spend it the way we chose, but this would obviously take up our time and we wouldn’t be able to make it back in time. “The whole idea behind this journey was ‘survival and resourcefulness’. I remember that as I was approaching Rabwah on my way back, Mir Daud Ahmad Sahib was on patrol and spotted me walking. He came to me and asked how I was doing. I replied to him by saying, ‘Mir Sahib, I don’t know how I am feeling, but I am happy that I can travel many miles on foot, should I ever have to.’” So the training of undergoing such tests where one has to walk or run for miles and miles has been a flagship of Ahmadi youth. The department of Sehat-e-Jismani in Majlis Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya has been there from the very inception of the organisation in the late 1930s. What is even better now is that alongside the training of enduring hardships, the element of charity has been added to make it even more beneficial; not only for those taking part, but for society at large. The walks that Jamia Ahmadiyya Rabwah or Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya once held in the good old days of Pakistan, are no longer possible in Pakistan as they were in their initial shape and form. To live as an Ahmadi in Pakistan is not easy at all; target killing, torturing, persecution of all kinds and forms have become a norm. However, in countries where religion does not automatically call for persecution, Ahmadi Muslim youth are not only upholding their golden values and traditions, but holding them higher and higher.

Dialogue with a Liberal Christian Al Hakam, 14 July 1918 On 5 July 1918, a liberal and educated Christian youth, who in reality was in pursuit of the true religion, came to visit Hazrat Khalifatul Masih [may Allah be pleased with him]. He met Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II for the first time, and as a result of this preliminary meeting, a conversation ensued regarding certain subtle matters. However, it was not the intention of the gentleman to commence a religious discussion on that day, and for this reason, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih also understood that the perfect opportunity would be when he commenced [to convey to him his message]. At one moment, he created a semblance of a doubt which was, in fact, an attack on the motive of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. On that occasion, the sight was worthy of being witnessed; despite suffering poor health that day, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih became prepared to answer him with great fervour, stirred by the esteem and respect which he held for the Holy Prophetsa. Moreover, he delivered such sagacious answers that the gentleman was compelled to regret his misgiving. I shall not mention his name in this dialogue. In order to maintain historical chronology, I should add that following the Asr prayer, the gentleman came at a time when Hazrat Khalifatul Masih was not in good health. He had not even been outside since morning and he was about to leave. However, he overlooked his health for this objective. Ayyadahullahul-Ahad. [May the One God strengthen his hand.] Chaudhry Muhammed Ismail Khan Sahib, District Superintendent, made the preliminary introduction. Then, Huzoor began the conversation in the following words.
Huzoor: Which religion do you adhere to? Christian: I am apparently Christian but, in my opinion, religion should be founded on theories of nature. The principles of every religion should be based on these. Those matters which are proven to be incorrect on the basis of experience and observation should not be included in religion. They should not be contrary to reason and logic. Huzoor: The sum and substance of what you say is that the foundation of religion should lie on reason and logic. Experience and observation are only branches of reason and logic. However, as you have entered into the sphere of religion, whether God exists or not, are you still convinced of a being who consciously acts? Christian: If such a being exists, his attributes should also be in accordance to the law of nature. Huzoor: The question which requires addressing currently is not regarding attributes. Rather, the question is whether such a being [God] exists or not? Christian: Yes, a power exists. Huzoor: So you believe that there is a power that is not necessarily conscious? Christian: The capability of such a power is like machinery; it functions automatically. Huzoor: When He is functioning and has created nature, then won’t you have to accept such a conscious Being?
portion from the irreligious, a portion from Jews, a portion from Christians or a portion from Muslims. Christian: I also do not believe in miracles. Huzoor: Contrarily, I believe in them. When I shed light on this topic, you will be able to ask questions about them. By the grace of God, our duty is to make you accept the fact that nature does not deny miracles; it is to leave you speechless, whereas to satisfy you is in the Hands of God. Afterwards, progressing on from this conversation, the Christian gentleman said; “I cannot understand how Jesus was born fatherless” and added, “A priest met me who was irreligious but slightly afraid. When I informed him that I do not accept these notions, he quickly replied that he also rejected such notions. He said that in reality, there are many people in Europe who do not accept these matters.”Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II supported these remarks and stated, “In Britain, there are even certain bishops who disbelieve in these principles of Christianity.” Moreover, referring to a narration of Hazrat Maulana Maulvi Nuruddin Sahib, Khalifatul Masih Ira, he said, “There was once a priest who would preach and did not believe in the divinity of Jesus. Hazrat Maulvi Sahibra enquired the method in which he would carry out his preaching. He replied, ‘I specifically limit my preaching to morals.’” Thus, the conversation ensued on the subject of irreligiousness in Christianity for a while. In truth, this was manifest proof of the success of the Promised Messiahas which a Christian was giving; the fact that the foundations of Christianity have become so unstable that Christians who adhere to Christianity, look at it with aversion. This is the reality of the breaking of the cross. People are disassociating themselves from Christianity, from within. At present, Christianity is more of a nationality than a true religion.
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIra in England
Christian: Yes, one should. Huzoor: There are some who reject the fact that He is conscious. Christian: I do not believe matter to have been created because matter gets conserved. Moreover, God cannot even cause it to disappear. Similarly, there are a few things which have not been created; one is space; the other is time, and lastly, matter. They contain Divine attributes or, in other words, they do not have a beginning, nor an end. It is these which are Divine attributes. Huzoor: We do not actually believe God to be limited to these attributes. I shall, InshaAllah, expound on the reality of Divine attributes when the discussion proceeds onto the topic.
Christian: God possesses the attributes of Qahhar [Subduer] but is void of the attributes of Raheem [Merciful] and Kareem [Kind]. Huzoor: I have already mentioned that I shall prove this when the appropriate time comes to discuss the topic of Divine attributes. Presently, I only enquired from you about the religion to which you adhere to discern to what extent you are convinced of the existence of God in religion. The manner of dialogue with a person who has no interest in any religion would be different as they do not adhere to any law. However, a person who is religious can be conversed with, on the basis of the principle which he believes to be true. Therefore, it should be understood which religion you propose for yourself, even if it is a combination; a portion taken from Arya Samajists, a
In relation to this, the Christian gentleman said regarding the Arya religion, “I do not consider it to be a religion. I regard it to be a political body and it has been named a religion for the fulfilment of this purpose. This is because there can be no unity without it.” Then, a dialogue ensued on the topic of unity. Huzoor: We see unanimity also occur for political reasons. However, only a true religion can create true unity. Until there is no unity in principle, nothing is worthy of being called “unity”. Unless there is unity through God and His Prophet, the essence of unity cannot be established. This is why the true purpose of man is to follow the true religion. Christian: Religion cannot be separated from politics. Huzoor: This is emotional talk. However, religion cannot be based on politics. It is one thing for politics to play a part in religion and another for religion to be based on politics. The basis of a true religion can never be on politics. The actual objective of religion is something entirely different; it is the creation of the love and cognition of God, and the improvement of the morals
5
Friday 13 July 2018 | AL HAKAM of man. Christian: It is true that the foundation of religion should not be on politics. I have observed the Arya Samaj that they are actually a political body. At this juncture, the discussion proceeded on the topics of the Shuddhi movement; the “untouchable castes”; that the Arya Samajists cleanse their souls but do not give them the same level of respect; issues surrounding marriage and food [regarding the “untouchables”]. Huzoor: There is no doubt that the Christians have excelled further than the Arya Samajists, but, at times, even in some of their churches, we find that there is segregation of classes and ranks. However, Islam removes such distinctions and does not leave any room for this. Christian: No doubt, Islam does succeed in this respect that there is no distinction among worshippers in mosques, however the opponents have caused great harm to religion. Huzoor: Freedom exists within Islamic places of worship to such an extent that through his practical example the Holy Prophetsa illustrated this by granting the Christians of Najran permission to worship in his mosque. This was the method to repel religious misunderstandings, to foster mutual unity and togetherness in relation to true doctrines. Christian: That was an era when they wished to draw people towards themselves. Huzoor: That was such an era when Islamic conquests had already taken place.
Christian: The Prophet’s plan was to bring Christians under their fold by any means possible. He must have granted such permission on this basis. Huzoor: This is the same thing that we wish today as well. Let alone the Christians, we wish that the entire world enters the fold of Islam. However, you should bear in mind that one should not argue regarding the intentions of religious matters which men carry out. In this manner, if intentions and motives are assumed regarding every matter, no piety can exist, nor any morals or acts of compassion. One can even go so far as to accuse their father of carrying out an act to merely satiate their sensual desires and to enquire what right he has left. This is an extremely foul and erroneous path. Doing this, squanders away good deeds and causes all noble matters to go to waste. No doubt, this benefits everyone, but to attack someone’s intentions and say that it was in a person’s interest for them to do such a thing is incorrect. You say that differences between religions have caused loss, but would it not benefit you if the religions unite as one? Christian: Yes Huzoor: Then, can it be said that you say such a thing for your own reasons and benefit? Thus, the thought of personal gain is abandoned where benefit on a wider scale is targeted. If it is brought under focus, there can be no righteousness or morals left in the world. Neither will anybody be worthy of being called a father, nor a mother. No relationship can remain, and our system of civilisation and morals would be brought to ruin. If a religious individual deems themselves to be true, or in other words,
that their religion is from God, it is their definite objective to desire for the entire world to enter its fold. If such a person does not possess this desire and objective, it would mean that they do not believe that religion to be from God. It is a lofty moral stage where a man desires for others what he wishes for himself. Thus, if this was the desire of the Holy Prophetsa, it is not objectionable, rather, it is a magnificent quality which cannot be found among others. This is because, when it is said that other religions do not desire as such, one would have to admit that the Founder of Islam was the most superior. Further, his superiority continued to be established because other religious people did not manage to abide by this objective. This is not mere conjecture. The fact of the matter is that the Holy Prophetsa was the most superior because he came for the entire world and was for all times to come. The rest of the prophets used to come for specific areas and nations. For this reason, the sphere of their courage and capabilities was not as vast as the Holy Prophet’ssa. Yet, at this juncture, the only question at hand is whether the permission to worship in his mosque which the Holy Prophetsa had granted the Christians of Najran was based on a self-centred objective. I have mentioned in principle that these supposed objectives are totally foolish. The first and foremost characteristic and principle of a true religion is that selfcentred behaviour is repelled from religion. Furthermore, it is outstanding practical proof that Islam has not only repelled such behaviour but bestowed open acceptance, and to term it as a self-centred objective would be largely incorrect. It is wrong to attack the motives of such matters. For instance, there exist many rituals at weddings, which waste much money.
However, if somebody, summoning the courage, breaks the trends of adhering to these rituals, they would of course gain financial benefit. Yet, would this not be as a result of their moral courage? Christian: If such a person does not intend to spend that money, only then is it a sign of their moral courage. Huzoor: Again, this is an attack on his motive and this is repugnant. If they have saved money, would they not need to spend it? However, this would be the result of halting that undesirable ritual rather than the objective. You should be able to differentiate whether such an action was the outcome, the objective or the reason. Thus, it must nevertheless be recognised to be moral courage, especially when it is due to the fact that such a person is not miserly, and their other actions are of such a lofty standard that they act as a shield against objections upon their motive. Similarly, reflect upon the life of the Holy Prophetsa. He was a person who proclaimed that salvation could be achieved by accepting those doctrines which he presented and who plainly recited to the Christians, “They surely disbelieve, who say that Allah is the third of three”; a person who powerfully refuted the divinity of Jesus Christ and declared the doctrines of the disbelievers to be false; who announced to his people, who were idolaters, that their idols were the fuel of the fire; then, allowing the people (whose doctrines he had forcefully refuted before them) to worship in his mosque in order to repel the selfish attitude which other religions had, can never be termed an selfish objective. This is such a wonderful proof of the sincerity and truthfulness of the Holy Prophetsa that Europeans of great renown who would raise allegations – such as the biased person of [William] Muir – were compelled to admit that it would have been very easy and convenient for him – had he desired for people to join him – to merely halt from condemning their idols, and as a result, the entire nation would have been prepared to support and obey him. It is an authentic account that a delegation of the leaders of disbelievers came before the Holy Prophetsa and presented every feasible possibility to lure him, so much so that they said, “We are prepared to appoint you as our king. Just refrain from condemning our idols.” However, he replied in clear words, “If the sun is placed in my right hand and the moon in my left, I still cannot cease from inviting others to the unity of God”. This was such a moment when the Holy Prophetsa would have gained every kind of respect and honour; he would not only have been reconciled with the entire nation, but he would have gained power and authority. Yet he did not abandon conveying the message and inviting others, for even a single moment. This is such an account which eternally answers the question of the objectives and motives of the Holy Prophetsa. It should be well comprehended that motives are always judged on the basis of actions. For instance, you visit a person at his home who happens to live in Lahore and is your friend and you only go to meet

him. Then a second person asserts that you came to Lahore for an errand and that you came on the pretext of a meeting to save hotel expenses. Or they assert that you only came to carry something back. You would of course declare this to be a clear attack upon your motive because this was not established by your other actions. The determining of a motive can either be through actions or if the person declares the motive himself. Similarly, if a person approaches the rulers of a government and makes tall claims of being their servants, but upon meeting their enemies, they say that they are, in fact, with them or they malign them behind their back, such a person would surely have to be called a flatterer. Yet it would be foolish to accuse a person of flattery who courageously notifies the rulers of their errors while at the same time, professing obedience to them. Thus, had you studied the former deeds of the Holy Prophetsa before objecting, you would not have mustered the courage to do so. Look, the Holy Prophetsa lived in Mecca for thirteen years. The entire nation was against him and would subject his community to all kinds of pain and suffering. If his sole objective was to bring others under his fold (which is what those who wish to increase their numbers do and who do not differentiate between the pious or wicked) he would not have observed prayer whilst facing Baitul Maqdas [Al Aqsa Mosque, Jerusalem]. Rather, he would have prayed facing the Ka‘ba which would have pleased the disbelievers of Mecca. The influence of the Jews and Christians was not [in Mecca], thus, for popularity, it was not required for him to do so. Despite the enmity of the whole nation, their continual persecution of various kinds and the fact that they would have been pleased by such an act, he did not adopt such a path which would have been understandable to a materialistic planning human. Then, he travelled to Medina, and there, such people were present who knew Baitul Maqdas to be their own qibla [direction towards which a person prays] and who held great regard for it. However, upon
arrival, the Holy Prophetsa faced the Ka‘ba. From this, we can clearly understand how he desired to propagate his faith. His aim was not to please any individual, nation or community, rather, his objective was purely the pleasure of God. For the fulfilment of the task for which God the Almighty had selected him, he did not care in the slightest for the enmity and opposition of any community or group. These accounts are powerful witnesses of the resolve and sincerity behind his motives, objectives and the ways he carried out his actions. One who ponders deeply upon these accounts of the life of the Holy Prophetsa – provided they have a conscience – will have to confess to the grandeur of the Holy Prophetsa. The Holy Quran also mentions that the foolish object against this, but the answer is that the objective behind it is to distinguish those of stronger faith. Now, tell us: can any wise person of a sound mind say that a person whose actions are as such and whose life has passed in such a manner that they never cared for any greed while conveying the truth, nor did any suffering prevent them from doing so; who is completely unaffected by anybody in this pursuit, in such a state when they gain victories and are given sovereignty, they say to observe prayer in the mosque just to please the Christians? On the contrary, they would have to confess that this action of the Holy Prophetsa was to spread tolerance. (O Allah bless Muhammad and the people of Muhammed and cause them to prosper – Editor) Then, we observe that the teachings of the Holy Quran regarding the freedom of mosques are magnificent and cannot be located in other religions at all. The Holy Quran has declared the act of stopping people from wirshipping the Divine in mosques to be the greatest injustice. No one can truthfully raise objections after all the accounts that I have succinctly mentioned and after studying the teachings of the Holy Quran collectively. (Translated by Fateh Alam)
By the grace of Allah the Almighty, every year a management committee is appointed by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih (may Allah be his Helper) to oversee the arrangements of Jalsa Salana. The management committee consists of Amir Sahib UK, Afsar Jalsa Gah, Afsar Khidmat-e-Khalq, Afsar Jalsa Salana and Sadr Lajna. Every year, Huzoor-eAnwaraa also approves the names of Afsar Jalsa Salana along with the Naib Afsaran who will be responsible for the various Nizamats that function to serve the guests of the Promised Messiah, peace be on him. There is a vast number of supplies and other services that are required to make the Jalsa Salana a success, and for this the various Nazimeen who are responsible for overseeing their respective departments provide a detailed budget to the management committee, which then approves such requests in collaboration with the finance committee, of course with the final approval of Huzoor-e-Anwaraa. Painstaking efforts are undertaken to ensure that the best quality services and supplies may be procured for the cheapest possible price. A separate department for supplies is responsible for procuring things like disposable plates, glasses, water, rice, flour, lentils, meat, milk, oil, butter, tomatoes, onions, etc. All of these budgets and all other matters are constantly sent to Hazrat Khalifatul-Masihaa for guidance and approval. It is with Huzoor-e-Anwar’s blessing and continuous guidance that the preparations for Jalsa Salana move forward every year. During the year, the Jalsa Salana management committee meet to ensure that all preparations are progressing as planned. The red book from the previous year is also taken on board, and every year there is an active effort to ensure that lapses from previous years are not repeated again, so there can be a constant growth to improvement. Another important aspect of Jalsa preparations is the formulation and finalisation of the site-map. The Jalsa Salana has grown over the years and now every year by the grace of Allah a tiny village is temporarily constructed to accommodate 35,000 to 40,000 people. The position of every marquee and cabin, as well as all the
temporary tracks, showers and toilets are outlined on a site-map, with dimensions and exact particulars. Other services such as water, electricity and sewage etc. are all planned well in advance and the infrastructure to support their successful operation is planned and put in place in due time. Furthermore, transport and accommodation are also provided for the guests of the Promised Messiahas. We receive our guests from various hubs and airports, and bring them to the Jalsa Salana. All of our overseas guests are provided with bedding to make their stay as comfortable as possible. Tents are also available to hire for those who are interested. All of these things must not only be purchased, but are setup well in time so that our guests are made to feel as easy as possible. The Langar of the Promised Messiahas also works to serve the guests of Jalsa Salana, and volunteers work relentlessly to cook 3 meals a day for 40,000 people. Our automated roti plant produces 10,000 flatbread rotis per hour. The Jalsa Salana is held in Alton, Hampshire, on a 210 acre farm – Hadeeqatul-Mahdi. There are strict guidelines that must be adhered to as stipulated by the local council. The Jalsa management is given a 28-day window in which to erect all the temporary structures for the Jalsa Salana and dismantle everything, returning the farm to its original state. We remain in constant communication with the local authorities and as soon as one Jalsa finishes, we begin meeting with them in preparation for the next years arrangements. By the grace of Allah Almighty and with the prayers of Hazrat KhalifatulMasihaa this seemingly impossible task is accomplished every year. Thousands of guests from all corners of the world come to participate in this blessed Jalsa, and a multitude of facilities – some tangible and other intangible – are offered to make their Jalsa experience as convenient as possible. Without the grace and mercy of God, this could never be possible. We pray that Allah covers our shortcomings and enables us to continue serving the guests of the Promised Messiahas in the manner that pleases Him. Amin.

Hazrat Alira HProphet
azrat Alira was born ten years before the Holy sa was commissioned as a prophet. His father, Abdul Manaf, who was known as Abu Talib, was the leader of Banu Hashim, a clan of the Quraish tribe of Mecca. Abu Talib was the uncle of Holy Prophetsa and father of Hazrat Alira. The Holy Prophetsa was eight years of age when his grandfather, Abdul Mutalib passed away. Abu Talib, despite his poverty, graciously took in the Holy Prophetsa and cared for him as his own son. Thus, from the very beginning Hazrat Alira was with the Holy Prophetsa. Hazrat Ali’sra mother, Hazrat Fatima bint Asad, took care of the Holy Prophetsa like her own son. Not only did she accept Islam, but was fortunate enough to have also migrated to Medina. When she passed away, the Holy Prophetsa said that after Abu Talib, he was most grateful to Hazrat Fatima bint Asad. Acceptance of Islam Hazrat Alira was at the tender age of ten when the
Holy Prophetsa was commissioned by God. Once, when Hazrat Alira found the Holy Prophetsa and his wife Hazrat Khadijara praying, he enquired as to what the Holy Prophetsa was doing. Upon this, the Holy Prophetsa told him about Islam and that he was the Messenger of Allah, and invited him to Islam. Due to the fact that Hazrat Alira knew the Holy Prophetsa all his life and had a lot of respect for him, he knew that what he was telling him was the truth. Thus, he accepted Islam and is counted among the first to have accepted Islam. Hazrat Ali’s courage On the fourth year of Nabuwat, when the Holy Prophetsa was commanded to spread the message of Islam to his relatives, he asked Hazrat Alira to arrange for a meal to be prepared with his relatives. After the meal, the Holy Prophetsa announced to his relatives that he was the Messenger of Allah and asked, “Who among you will stand by me and help me?” Upon this, nobody had the courage to say
Hazrat Ali narrates that the Holy Prophetsa said: "I am the house of wisdom, and Ali is its door." A

South Africa Peace Seminar Zaid Ebrahim General Secretary, AMJ South Africa
JAfrica held a successful Peace Symposium amaat Ahmadiyya Cape Town, South
in Khayelitsha on Saturday 30 June 2018. Khayelitsha is a sub-economical suburb of Cape Town, situated about 25 kilometers away from the Jamaat Headquarters in Athlone. The Theme of the Symposium was, “Unity in Diversity: A Journey Towards Peace”, and it was held at the Hopolang Primary School, which is about 100 meters away from our Jamaat Centre in Khayelitsha. It was well attended by members from various cultural and religious groups, including men, women and children. The program consisted of recitation of the Holy Quran with the Xhosa and English translation.
The Reverend Roux Malan of the Unitarian Community offered a devotional prayer. This was followed by the opening address by Jamaat Ahmadiyya National Sadr and Missionary Incharge, Mansoor Ahmad Zahid Sahib along with the opening silent prayer. The first guest speaker was Father Matsepane Marore of the Roman Catholic Community. His speech dealt with unity in what we are, and what we become. We were honoured by the presence of Councillor Albert Ntsodo, Cape Town Mayoral Committee member, who represented the Honourable Madam Mayor, Alderman Patricia de Lille of Cape Town at our Symposium. In his Mayoral Message, Councillor Ntsodo expressed his happiness that in the harsh and corrupted times we are living, there are people who will come together, to talk about love and peace, and to find solutions to bring about love and peace. His speech mainly dealt with love and peace, and that God has created us as one common human race, and this is what we have to strive for. The third speaker was Comrade Kama Mesuli, African National Congress (ANC) Youth League Leader. With reference to the theme, Comrade Mesuli said AMJ South Africa that unity in diversity
anything, but Hazrat Alira, who at the time was just a young boy, stood up and wholeheartedly declared, “O Prophet of Allah, though I am just a young boy, but still I am present to stand by you.” (Tafsir Tibri, Sura Al-Shura) From this incident, we can see the brave and courageous character of Hazrat Alira. When the Holy Prophetsa was commanded by God to leave Mecca and migrate to Medina he immediately left with Hazrat Abu Bakrra. That night the Holy Prophetsa told Hazrat ra Ali to remain behind in Mecca, and to return all the belongings of the people of Mecca as the Holy Prophetsa was entrusted with the precious belongings of some non-believers in Mecca. The Holy Prophetsa requested Hazrat Alira to sleep in his bed and to cover himself with his blanket. That night the Angel Gabriel brought news to the Holy Prophetsa about the disbelievers of Mecca who were conspiring to kill him. Many young men from various clans of the Quraish were outside the Holy Prophet’ssa house. However, by the grace of Allah, the Holy Prophetsa had already left. When the men entered the house to kill the Holy Prophetsa, they removed the blanket to only realize that Hazrat Alira was there instead, ready to sacrifice himself for the Holy Prophetsa. Khilafat After the martyrdom of Hazrat Uthmanra, the companions of the Holy Prophetsa along with other Muslims agreed to elect Hazrat Alira as the fourth Khalifa. Upon this, Hazrat Alira said that that was no light decision and only those companions who took part in the Battle of Badr should make such a decision. Thus, the companions who took part in Badr agreed and elected Hazrat Alira as the fourth Khalifa. Seeing the dire state of the Umma and the state of the people, Hazrat Alira agreed. Hazrat Alira first took the Bai‘at of Hazrat Talhara and Hazrat Zubairra, and then the rest of the
must be a unity with purpose. Quoting Mother Theresa, he said that there are things we can do and there are things we cannot do; therefore we need to take hands to help one another to achieve what we could not do before. The fourth speaker was Apostle Lorraine Moko from the House Ministries International. This was followed by the fifth speaker, Rayaan Allom Sahib of Jamaat-e-Ahmadiyya. Before the closing remarks by Mr James Ellman from Faith Hope Love Communities, Mansoor Ahmad Zahid Sahib presented gifts to all speakers.
companions. Looking at history we can see that the period of Hazrat Ali’sra Khilafat, especially the end, was a turbulent period for Islam. Muslims were no longer united. They had split into different factions, putting their interests above all else. Hazrat Ali’sra policy was purely based on the teachings of the Quran. He never compromised Islamic ethics and principles for the sake of holding onto power. He made no distinction between the rich and poor. He did not try to please the rich at the expense of the poor and weak. A lesson for all Muslims Once, during a battle between the Muslims and the disbelievers, we read an incident which shows the beautiful nature of Hazrat Alira. During battle Hazrat Alira subdued the enemy and pinned him to the ground. The enemy knew that he had been defeated, and out of fear and anger spat on Hazrat Ali’sra face. Upon this Hazrat Alira calmly inserted his sword back into its sheath and walked away. The enemy, in a state of confusion, enquired from Hazrat Alira as to why he had walked away. Hazrat Alira explained that everything he had done until then was for the sake of Allah. When the enemy spat on his face, Hazrat Alira got angry. He said that if at that point he had killed the enemy then it would’ve been out of personal spite and not for Allah. Asadullah – Lion of God Hazrat Alira was among the first to accept Islam. He spent a major part of his life with the Holy Prophetsa. His bravery and courageous character was second to none. Studying history, we see that he endured intolerable levels of hardships, both when he was the Khalifa and the time prior to that, but he remained firm and steadfast on reestablishing peace within the Muslims. His entire life was spent in the great service of Islam.
AMJ South Africa
We were also honoured by the local Sunni Imam of the Harare Mosque, Sheikh Nazeem, who graciously accepted our invitation to attend. He also offered a few closing remarks in the Xhosa language and a prayer. The Symposium ended by offering everyone soup and bread.

Friday Sermon 15.6.18 Delivered from Baitul Futuh Mosque
Important Prayers to Recite After reciting the Tashahud, Ta‘awuz, and Surah Al-Fatihah, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaba stated: While mentioning the importance of the Friday Prayer, the Holy Prophetsa said on one occasion, “There comes such an hour on [Friday], which, if a Muslim encounters while standing in prayer, then whatever supplication they make, it is accepted, or whatever goodness they ask for, it is granted to them by God Almighty.” (Sahih AlBukhari, Kitab-ul-Jumu’ah, Hadith 935) With regards to this Hadith, some people believe that the sermon delivered as part of the Friday prayer is also a part of the prayer. Hence, it is also included in that special hour which one can experience. In any case, the Friday Prayer bears a special significance. Its observance has been made compulsory upon every male who has reached adolescence and the age of maturity, except in extreme circumstances. (Sunan Abu Dawood, Kitab-ul-Salat, Hadith 1067) Everyone supplicates during prayers according to their own thinking and needs. There are also some, who, although offer their prayers, are not moved to make any special supplications. They simply offer the prayers, repeat the words of the prayer and consider it to be sufficient. They are unaware of the importance of prayer. Thus, today, on this last Friday of Ramadan, I deemed it appropriate to recite certain prayers, so that those who are not sufficiently aware may also understand the significance of prayers and so that we, as a Community, may present our prayers and supplications before God Almighty. Moreover, [in this manner we can] collectively pray for the acceptance of these supplications during the congregational prayer. Among these prayers, I have selected some from the Holy Quran, of the Holy Prophetsa, and have also included some prayers of the Promised Messiahas. There are also some general prayers. I will now recite some Quranic prayers and some of the prayers of the Holy Prophetsa. Those, who are familiar with these prayers, can recite them silently after me and also say “Ameen”. May God Almighty accept our prayers. ٰ

It is narrated that the Holy Prophetsa taught the following prayer: “O Allah! Forgive me my mistakes; protect me from the evil of my lack of knowledge, ignorance and injustice in my affairs and safeguard me from every harm and evil, of which You are aware far greater than I. O Allah! Forgive me my mistakes. Forgive all of my mistakes, whether they were committed knowingly, unknowingly or in a manner of a joke, as they are all within me. Forgive all of my mistakes, which I have already committed and which I have not yet committed; those which I committed secretly and those which I committed openly. You are the One, Who causes people to progress and regress and only You are Powerful over all things.” (Sahih Al Bukhari, Kitabul Dawaat, Hadith 6398) Then, there is [another] prayer of the Holy Prophetsa.

“O Allah, I seek Your mercy, which can guide my heart and accomplish my affairs. Bestow success upon my disjointed affairs. Unite me with those that have been separated from me. The Promised Messiahas wrote a prayer for one of his companions in a letter. This prayer was written for Chaudhry Rustam Ali Sahib:

I am a worthless, sinful and heedless servant of Yours. You have seen me commit injustices upon injustices, yet always bestowed rewards upon rewards. You have seen me commit sin upon sin and yet You conferred Your favour upon favour. You have always concealed my flaws and granted me countless bounties. Holland Jamaat
In the Blessed Presence of Khilafat Safeer Siddiqui Missionary, Holland
T
he success of Jamaat Ahmadiyya lies in the fact that this Jamaat is Divinely guided. This Jamaat is led by a spiritual leader who is appointed by God Almighty Himself. Throughout the history of Ahmadiyyat, every small and big achievement and success of the Jamaat is a result of the Divinely appointed leader: the Khalifa of the time. Jamaat Ahmadiyya Holland has also reaped the blessings this Divine leadership for almost a century now. In this short article, I will narrate only a few selected interactions of Khulafa-eAhmadiyyat with the Dutch nation.
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II
ra
Jamaat Ahmadiyya Holland was established with the arrival of the first official missionary, Hafiz Qudratullah Sahib, in 1947. (Missionaries of Jamaat UK did visit Holland for missionary work prior to the arrival of Hafiz Qudratullah Sahib, but Hafiz Sahib was the first missionary sent by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIra to Holland to formally establish a mission.) The interaction of Hazrat KhalifatulMasih IIra with Holland, however, can be traced back even before this period. In 1924, a Dutch lady, Mrs Budd, accepted Islam Ahmadiyyat through written Bai‘at of Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmadra. In one of her letters she mentions that she sent her first monthly report to Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIra and that she was waiting for further instructions of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIra concerning the preaching of the message of Islam Ahmadiyyat in Holland. (Al Fazl, 11 December 1924) She was given the Islamic name Hidayat (guidance) by Huzoorra. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIra once gave guidance to the mission in Holland that although there were more protestants in Holland, we should focus more on the Roman-Catholics because when they convert to Islam, they will prove to be very firm Muslims. (Tarikhe-Ahmadiyyat, Vol. 12, p. 187) These words have proven to be true in the history of Jamaat Holland. Even in the present time, Hibatunnoer Verhagen Sahib (Amir Jamaat Holland) and Abdul Hameed van der Velden Sahib (Naib Amir Jamaat), both from
Roman-Catholic backgrounds, are living proof of this. Under the auspices of Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih IIra, the Dutch translation of the Holy Quran was published in 1953 and the first mosque of Holland, the Mobarak Mosque, was constructed in The Hague in 1955. Both of these achievements require a separate article, but what can be said in short is that these favours of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIsa are a source of guidance for many people to this day. Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmud Ahmadra wrote a letter to the mission of Holland at the opening of the Mobarak Mosque. Huzoorra mentioned in his letter that kings would remember those services in the future. (Al Fazl, 23 June 1955) These words came true on the occasion of the fifty-year jubilee of the Mobarak Mosque, when the Queen of Holland, Queen Beatrix, visited the mosque in 2006. In the history of the worldwide Jamaat, she became the first Queen in the Western world to have visited a Jamaat mosque.
during his entire life, we have made more converts in just a few years in this country alone.” This unexpected and prompt responce of Huzoorrh silenced the journalist, and all other present journalists enjoyed this reply. Then Huzoorrh further went on to explain that in the initial stages of preaching the question of numbers was irrelevant and that the question should be related to whether a gradual reformation was taking place in people or not. Huzoorrh said that by the grace of Allah, such a reformation was taking place and so the figure would gradually grow. (Khutabate-Nasir, Vol. 6, pp. 497-498)
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh Hazrat Khalifatul-Masih IVrh blessed Holland with his visit on numerous occasions. There are countless touching and faith inspiring incidents of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IVrh in Holland, but keeping it brief, I will narrate only one.
Hazrat Mirza Tahir Ahmadrh established a very special bond with not only the Ahmadis but even with the local native people. Huzoorrh would come and stay in Nunspeet where the national community centre Baitun-Noer is based. Baitun-Noer was purchased in 1985 and was, at the time, the second biggest property of the Jamaat after Islamabad in Tilford, UK. Huzoorrh himself attended the inauguration of this centre, and the local Jamaat arranged a reception for this occasion. Many neighbours, members of the local council and the mayor were invited. In Holland, Nunspeet is known to be part of the “Bible Belt” with many Christians living here. During the inaugural session, one member of the local council asked Huzoorrh in a somewhat irritated tone as to why the Jamaat had decided to come and settle Continued on page 11
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh has blessed Holland on many occasions with his visit. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IIIrh even met with the Prime Minister of Holland in 1980, and the same year Huzoorrh visited the Dutch parliament for a press conference. One particular incident that Huzoorrh himself mentioned more than once in his speeches was regarding an encounter with a Dutch journalist during a press conference. During a press conference when the answers of Huzoorrh had had a positive effect on the minds and hearts of the journalists, a young catholic journalist tried to remove the positive effect by asking Huzoorrh: How many converts have you seen to this date in Holland? His purpose was to show that there were only a few converts and that the Jamaat was small in number and therefore should not be given any importance. Journalists today still demonstrate this attitude towards the Jamaat. Huzoorrh said that that was the very first time he had been asked such a question in public. Huzoorrh said that he replied, “According to your belief, the amount of converts Jesus Christas made

in Nunspeet? “Why does Jamaat not go to the cities were a lot of Muslims reside?” Huzoor handled this situation with great wisdom and replied very kindly, “We are exactly at the right place where we should be. You love Jesus, and so do we love Jesus. You love God, and so do we love God, and we are in search of people who love God. So, we are exactly where we should be.” This wise response by Huzoorrh removed the anger of the questioner and comforted him. Not only did Huzoor’srh answer satisfy the questioner but also the audience. (Narrated by Faheem Dieffenthaler Sahib and Hamid Karim Mahmud Sahib, both present during the session.)
Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaa Hazrat Khalifatul Masih Vaa has blessed Holland also with his visits on many occasions. One particular visit that stands out to this date was the blessed visit of Huzooraa in October 2015.
Among other activities Huzooraa also laid the foundation stone for Baitul-Afiyat Mosque in Almere and addressed the foreign office committee in the Dutch Parliament. During this visit, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmadaa also gave interviews to various media outlets. On one occasion, Huzooraa said to a journalist, after he had asked his questions: “I did not consider it to be an interview, rather it was like a friendly meeting.” (Diary of Abid Khan Sahib, Holland Tour 2015, Part 1, p. 27) Every journalist was impressed by the extreme kindness and loving character of Huzooraa. One journalist was so impressed that she said, “I have never seen someone giving an interview while being so calm, relaxed and at peace. It was unbelievable.” After Huzoor’saa address in the Dutch Parliament, Huzooraa had a meeting with some dignitaries. During this meeting, MP Harry van Bommel explained that Islamophobia was also present in Holland. The former Defence Minister of Holland, Mister van Eekelen said to Huzooraa that “If they (i.e. the Dutch nation) don’t hear something positive from time to time, it may get worse.” Huzooraa very beautifully replied, “So you give us time to speak on this issue from time to time, so people get to know what is the true teaching of Islam.”

of the Ahmadiyya Community living in various countries, may He alleviate their troubles and stop the hand of the enemy’s oppression. There are now only a few Darvesh [those Ahmadis who stayed behind in Qadian after the partition of the Indian subcontinent] who remain in Qadian. Some people in Qadian are going through hardships. Similarly, those living in Pakistan – especially in Rabwah – their circumstances are being made more and more difficult by the Government and they are making efforts in Pakistan to further complicate the situation of the Ahmadis. May God Almighty also protect them from the oppressors and improve their situation. Likewise, apart from Pakistan, there are certain areas in India where there is a Muslim majority and as a result of this there are atrocities carried out against Ahmadis. May God Almighty seize the hands of these wrongdoers. Similarly in Indonesia, whenever they find the opportunity, these oppressors treat the Ahmadis in a cruel manner. A few days ago, they forced a small Jamaat out of their homes, leaving them homeless. May God Almighty also keep them under His protection and guard them from the evil of the enemies. As has been mentioned previously
regarding Muslim countries that the violent attacks in Yemen have recommenced due to the altercations of groups in Iraq and Syria and due to differences amongst the tribes, Muslims are killing other Muslims. May God Almighty grant them understanding and enable them to act upon the true teachings of the Prophet they follow, and may He enable them to accept the Mahdi and Messiah whom God Almighty has sent in this era, so that they may be saved from the wrong path they are treading on, and so that their life in this world and the next may be saved. Furthermore, may God Almighty bless the wealth and lives of those who are making sacrifices and contributing towards the different Chandas [financial contributions] of the Jamaat. These days, MTA is playing a vital role towards propagating the message. May God Almighty reward all the workers and volunteers of MTA and enable them to serve even more than before. Nowadays MTA Africa, which has been newly launched, is also spreading the message. These workers are all locals. May God Almighty grant them knowledge and understanding and enable them to make better programmes to spread the true message of Islam in their countries and to the world at large.

“O Lord of all the worlds! It is beyond me to offer You gratitude for all Your favours. You are most Merciful and Compassionate, and the bounties that You have conferred upon me are countless. Forgive me my sins, lest I am ruined. Fill my heart with sincere love for You, so that I may receive life. Cover my faults and allow me to perform such deeds which become the source of Your pleasure. I seek refuge in Your noble countenance lest Your punishment may befall me. Have mercy and save me from the calamities of this world and the hereafter for all grace and compassion is in Your hand. Ameen.” (Maktubaat-e-Ahmad, Vol. 2, p. 159, letter no. 3 addressed to Hazrat Nawab Muhammad Ali Khanra) We should also remember the Muslim world in general in our prayers. May God Almighty create unity amongst them and may He remove the division in their hearts and unite them. May their mutual hostility come to an end and may God Almighty stop the hand of the enemy who, as a result, is taking advantage of this and prevent them from harming Islam. May God Almighty create the spirit of contentment within all Ahmadis, men and women alike. May He save them from every evil and grant them steadfastness. May they always remain attached to the Nizam-
e-Jamaat [administrative structure of the Jamaat] and the institution of Khilafat. May He also grant the Nizam-e-Jamaat the ability to fulfil the due rights of the Jamaat members and enable the office-bearers to truly understand their responsibilities. May He enable all the Waqifeen [life-devotees] to render their services with the true spirit of Waqf [dedication]. May God Almighty protect us from the wicked ploys of the Dajjal and all its evils. May God Almighty stop the hands of all those powers that seek to weaken Muslims and protect them from its evils. This will not only cause the Muslim world to be destroyed but in fact will bring about a devastation in the entire world. May God Almighty protect us from this destruction. May God Almighty elevate the status of the martyrs of Ahmadiyyat and may He Himself protect their loved ones they have left behind. May He grant the means to free those who have been imprisoned due to Ahmadiyyat. May God Almighty alleviate the difficulties of all those who are engrossed in any sort of trouble. May He cure all those who are suffering from ailments. May God Almighty alleviate the difficulties of everyone, whether they are facing them for political reasons or religious reasons.
