As a response to the nature of the program, a social condenser, the idea of the project was to exhibit diverse activities to the user throughout their experience of the building. After analysing the current conditions of living in Segovia, introducing such a dynamic program to the local community would give a twist to the city. Due to this, the building is meant to inspire and challenge the routine habits of the locals as well as introduce them to alternative activities to broaden their interests.
The main idea was to design the relationships between the spaces in a way that made the viewer feel that there is something completely different occurring in the neighbouring space. This was done through the manipulation of scale and materiality. By changing the scale from one space to another, the user would feel a stronger change in context than just the activity occupying the space. This is to create a sequence of diverse experiences in the condensed building.
