Research Title Review of the OSU Student Evaluation of Instruction Client OSU Council of Gradaute Stduents Description Intiated in September 2011, the OSU Council of Graduate students was asked to exam the system that allows students to evaluate their professors. The online evaluation system was implemented less and a year ago and all ready has raise concerns with OSU administration. As the lead on this project the case for review was made by a report generated from a 20 person qualitative questionnaire seeking to understand students views on the system. Currently, a timeline is being proposed for the remainder of the research project.

Research Title System Evaluation of Using an Automated Teller Machine Client NA Description As an exercise in usability, a heuristic evaluation of ATMs was performed to better understand: 1) if ATMs are as easy to use compared to how often they are used, and 2) if the system holds up to the standards of Jakob Nielsen’s interaction heuristics. In the end, the study found that while often used, ATMs do not hold up to current conventions.

Research Title A Working Title Client The Ohio State University, Design 786 Description Design 786 was a research seminar course meant to provide me with a broad overview of research methodologies. Each group in the course was to also plan and execute a research project. My group asked the question, “How do design students organize a project?” We investigated OSU students work habits and their ability to handle creative work and organization. We used Velcro tool kits, survey, observation, interview and a fill-in-the-blank workbook to investigate. Comparing our quantitative data against our qualitative data, we pulled out common themes to make our final recommendations.

Research Title Library Research Process Book Client The Ohio State University,  Design 780 Description Design 780 in 2009 was a collaboration between Architecture and Design. A group of architects set out to design a library. My group was to inform them on the user aspects of a library. We used collage maketools, interview, observation and environmental profiles to investigate. We compared MakeTool themes to quantitative themes to generate recommendations and user personas. Design research was a main emphasis for this project.

To that end, I was appointed at the Chair of the Communications and Information Technology Committee and asked, as my first responsibility, to gather and direct a team to redesign the website. Due to time constraints, mimimal user reserach was incorporated into the process to determine the new needs of the website.

Events Titles Gloss Gloss: Gritz & Grime Gloss Me Up Client Student chapters of: The Fine Arts Association, International Interior Designers Association, Industrial Design Student Association, Fashion Mafia and AIGA. Description Gloss was an ongoing event for three years. Each year it grew in size from 1,500 guests in its beginning year to more than 3,500 guests in its final year. As an original concept, I developed gloss to be an interdisciplinary effort to showcase art, music and fashion, while at the same time giving students a professional outlet to showcase their work. All three exhibitions involved an art show, fashion show, music program, dancing, and an interior designed lounge. My role was exhibition producer and manger.
