Letter from the Editor Hey Key Clubbers!
I hope that everyone had a good Halloween, while keeping it covid friendly as we all should. We will be having another Flycatcher Trail clean up this month so if you missed it last month you will have another chance to get some service points. If you aren't able to make the Flycatcher Trail clean up, then you can write an article for Key Club or submit pictures. It is three points for one article and 3 good pictures for one point, and the maximum amount of points you can earn is three. The Trojan Talk | Page 2
Message from the President Hey Key Clubbers! It’s November! The past month has been a crazy one. Quarantines, fall break, Halloween, and an election! Through it all, I would like to thank you all for being patient with us as we try to navigate through the pandemic. Thank you for continuing to serve and participate! I would also like to congratulate our new board members this year. I am so excited to collaborate and make new volunteer projects with you all! We have a really good selection this year for all your volunteering needs! Until next time, Salma Waheed The Trojan Talk | Page 3
Clean up at Flycatcher Trail By Evonn Annor The Jenks Flycatcher Trail is a fantastic place to volunteer. You benefit from meeting new people--like you can in all-volunteer opportunities, but here you have the added benefit of learn how to garden. I started volunteering at the Flycatcher Trail when I first moved to Jenks sophomore year, and since then, I have volunteered almost every time there was an event. I have done everything from pruning branches to uprooting stubborn weeds and even getting the chance to plant beautiful roses, sunflowers, and trees. The Flycatcher Trail has also been a place of discovery, a location that incites curiosity and wonder within an individual. It was there that I had the chance to tag a Monarch Butterfly. I also learned how to distinguish between male and female monarch butterflies--it’s all in the wings. With this in mind, the Flycatcher Trail is not only seen as a place to volunteer, but it is also seen as a place to connect with nature and learn more about vegetation. I used this as an opportunity to introduce my siblings to volunteer activities and to nature itself. In introducing my siblings to this volunteer opportunity, I also introduced them to Key Club. I ultimately helped my sister find out what she wanted to do most in Key Club and work with plants and animals. I always wanted to try my hand at gardening, but I never had the resources or opportunity to do so until now. It was a wonderful experience, and it’s something I believe I will turn into a hobby and ultimately continue throughout my life and, hopefully, in college.

What Made you "Fall" in Love with Key Club By Hayley Ortwein
Key Club provides an amazing opportunity for all those who wish to join. As compared to many other clubs this provides opportunities from all different kinds of people to volunteer in waterever activity they might be interested in. When I first joined the club I for to sell socks to raise money for cancer which might really hit home for some people. For others just getting hours at the aquarium with the fish gets them hyped. From helping with animals to making signs for homecoming something will interest anyone in this family. No matter what floats your boat there is such a draw in the Key Club because of its diversity for opportunities. Along with wide opportunities you don't need ad prerequisite in order to join. You just need a determination to help your school and community which can in turn help provide for you in the future. Key Club in tern becomes the gift that keeps on giving as you receive recognition for your good deeds. The Trojan Talk | Page 5
