2. iD Magazine

This editorial visually and aesthetically matches iD magazine with its edgy, bold, grunge and impressive pictures. There is a concept were non traditional beauty is highlighted with the use of makeup. iD is very known for its bold and different makeup looks that create a statement. Additionally, its innovative pictures and fresh looks have gained appreciation from people like Adele and Madonna. “The idea was to break down the pigeon-holing of identity and fashion; to go beyond the façade of fashion so you could play it as a game. So you could have more fun with the codes of fashion” (Terry Jones, 2013) “Over the years the magazine evolved into a mature glossy but it has kept street style and youth culture central” (Fashion publication, 2016) The layout of the magazine is crisp and innovative, which connected very well with the entire editorial. The iconic wink on every cover, has always been appealing to young consumers.

4. Styling The styling for this photoshoot was bold, colorful, powerful and textured. The items were chosen to be colorful to create a contrast between the white backdrop and the models. Additionally, each look had a mix of textures, colors and patterns to create dynamic pictures that matched the identity of the magazine. The main inspiration for the styling was Cabaret, as black hats, fur coats and a lot of glitter are key elements in Cabaret’s style. It is important to highlight the green nails that one model is wearing, as in the movie, Sally Bowles really emphasizes her nails with the quote of “divine decadence darling!” referring to her nail color. Furthermore, jewelry is subtly implemented to elevate each look with a touch of glamour, shine and sparkle. Additionally, three different sized mirrors and big plastic bags were bought for props. Finally, all pieces shown in the editorial were selected by the stylist’s own wardrobe.
