ad romance, Frankenstein and duality were some of the topics behind the inspiration for the FW19 fashion show. Everybody has certainly had a bad romance experience and Miuccia Prada expressed this feeling in an exquisite way. Miuccia wanted to make the audience relive these sad experiences. This whole collection has the darkness of Frankenstein but also the fun of ‘Bad Romance’ by Lady Gaga playing in the background. The lightning bolts that guided the models through the runway had the Frankenstein-ish feeling that Miuccia wanted to express. Low lights and dark backgrounds made the runway more intimate and grunge-like. Besides bad romance, Ms Prada found inspiration in the importance of duality. The grunge-like looks represent the outcasts of our society and how they live to feel always out of place. FW19 Prada collection aims to connect with Prada’s community in a more emotional and intimate way. Miuccia found inspiration in something dark and sad but created a beautiful grunge-like collection full of flowers and Frankenstein drawings. Color black dominated the runway along with combat boots. Lace and silk were the perfect touches to put the whole collection together. The models wore a ‘no makeup’ makeup look with bleached eyebrows and a short bob to represent the grunge look. This collection is for anyone who has ever felt heartbroken by someone who turned out to be dark and evil but also for the people who feel like Frankenstein; always out of place and never accepted. For Miuccia, it is a priority to connect with her audience emotionally and she did.
