"This is a dream I am building for myself and that takes patience, persistence, and self-compassion. I know it's all going to be worth it in the end because I believe so strongly in my mission!"
Tell Us Your Story: I started ETTCH about 18 months ago after spending 3 years volunteering at a children's support line. On the calls with the children, I noticed that no matter how big or small the issue was, a child with a strong self-worth was more likely to get help or find a positive outcome from their situation. That's when I realised how important a strong self-worth is to our overall health and wellbeing and I started researching the psychology behind it. I learned that a strong self-worth is invaluable to us and has been proven to reduce anxiety and depression and help people live happier more fulfilling lives. I had a lightbulb moment and I knew I had to help the world by giving children the gift of self-worth so they can grow up into happier, more successful adults. At this point in the story I should mention, I'm a full time Marketing Manager at a global software company called HubSpot. I lead a large team and the job is quite demanding so everything you read after this point was and is being done in my evenings and weekends :) It took about 6 months of ideation to come up with the product but I decided I would start a subscription box with curated items that were designed to help build self-esteem, resilience, and self-compassion in children. It went well at the beginning but as I was sourcing products for the seventh month it was getting harder and harder to find inventory to stock the boxes with. It was at that point I realized that there are not enough products in the world that promote strong mental health to children and I needed to create something myself.
So I designed a guided journal and scaled back the subscription box. I combined the most popular products from the previous six subscription boxes into a one-off toolkit product so I could focus my time and energy on launching the journal. I launched the Journal in December 2018 and it has been going OK but it's extremely tough to find the time it needs and deserves to thrive. To reduce the guilt I felt about not working on it every waking minute and it growing slower than I would like it to, I made a five year plan that will help me grow it at a steady pace until I'm ready to leave full time employment. Not putting pressure on myself to have a thriving business in year one but rather giving myself time to grow it for long-term success while keeping me financially secure was the right move for me. It won't be everyone's preference but that's what I need to do for me at this stage in my life and career. I spoke with a business mentor that really helped me narrow my focus for the next 18 - 24 months so I can keep focused on the prize instead of getting distracted by my many ideas and desires for the business to grow faster. I need to keep reminding myself that it's not a race and I can't compare my stage 1 business to other people's stage 4 or 5 businesses. This is a dream I am building for myself and that takes patience, persistence, and self-compassion. I know it's all going to be worth it in the end because I believe so strongly in my mission!

Have You Had Any Obstacles/Challenges? No it definitely has not been a smooth road. As I mentioned in the previous question, I really struggle to find enough time to dedicate to the business while maintaining a demanding full time job. When I'm tired, I don't want to work on ETTCH because I want it to get my full attention and fatigue does not produce good work. I am always moving forward though, always making progress, no matter how small so that's what keep me satisfied. I have narrowed down my focus over the next 18 months so I'm not diluting my time across too many things and having the most impact on the business in the time I can commit to it. Tell Us More About Your Business. I currently have two products. 1\. The ETTCH JournalThe ETTCH journal is a guided journal for children aged 8-12 years that builds selfconfidence through fun and interactive activities, challenges, and illustrations. It encourages children to talk about their feelings, practice gratitude and kindness, and develop a positive outlook.2\. The ETTCH BoxThe ETTCH box is a toolkit packed full of encouraging items to help children manage their emotions, realise their own self-worth, and feel like they are good enough just as they are. The items in the box include happy and worry boxes, a worksheet, a worry friend, self-affirmation card, badge, sticker, therapeutic coloring book, a notebook and a letter of encouragement.My proudest moment was when I was speaking at an event for teenagers and one of them came up to me after my talk to thank me. She said her little sister had been going through a really hard time for several months but after getting the ETTCH journal and box, she was like a changed person and was doing much better. I've received a lot of feedback like this from my customers and it warms my heart to hear that my products are truly having a positive impact on children's lives. I have not received a single complaint since I started this. What Are Your Future Plans? For the next few years I'm going to focus on expanding the journal and getting it into bookstores. Once I have nailed my distribution strategy I'll start creating different variations of the journal that specialise in different mental health issues. For example, for children who have been impacted by bullying, grief, divorced parents, etc.

advice for aspiring entrepreneurs?
My advice is to spend a lot of time researching the market fit and potential opportunity for several months before jumping in. It's so easy to get caught up in the excitement but going through the business case in detail is honestly so important and can't be overlooked. Simply creating an awesome product isn't enough to make a business successful if you don't have a go-to-market strategy. I would also say, make you start a business for something you feel extremely passionate about because when things get tough, your mission is going to be the one thing that keeps you moving forward.

When you see the number 111 stop and look around yourself. Take a note of where you are, what you are doing and who you are with! 111 is a wakeup call from the Universe, telling you to pay attention to what is happening around you.It is a positive sign. It is a confirmation that whatever you are doing at that moment is right, is meant to be. has been a hurdle and a learning experience in which I still have a long way to go.The biggest hurdle I’ve faced so far was losing the first manufacturer of my initial jewelry line. I had partnered with an anti-human trafficking organization that I had been talking with for a couple of years. We worked for 8 months on creating a jewelry line that was going to be manufactured by their organization and sold here in the states.

I had a rep lined up, a PR gal and I was so excited. When we were about to start manufacturing, I got a call from their manager telling me the organization pulled their entire jewelry program and they would no longer be making my jewelry line- it halted everything and felt like the previous year went down the drain. It was a rough time, but I got to work, started contacting organizations and figured out how to get manufacturing going again. I decided the line I had done was no longer relevant and designed an entirely new one. I’m almost finished solidifying the designs and I’ve found an amazing organization in Cambodia that will be my new manufacturing partner. They’re incredible. They’re rescuing them out of sex trafficking, walking them through restoration and teaching

ATONEMENT DESIGN DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR ASPIRING ENTREPRENEURS? I struggle with 'analysis paralysis' and I feel that my fear of failure has stopped me many times along the way. Sometimes you just have to start and go for it. Surround yourself with a strong community that loves you, and supports you. Be vulnerable with them along the way and let them help you. My husband has been my strength and my sounding board throughout this process and I couldn't have done any of this without him!

Has it been easy since you opened your business? No it certainly hasn't all been smooth .. running and having your own business is very different from being an employee with a specific role. As a solo-preneur each and every decision is mine and while that sounds great it can be overwhelming and of course there are times when you make a wrong decision. Gaining a clientele was my first challenge and at first it seemed daunting and overwhelming.. but a quick review of my own materials i would use in educating others on building their businesses showed me that i had an arsenal of resources.. once I got "dialed in" I was better able to tap into those resources to my benefit. Moral of the story.. you don't have to know it all - just surround yourself with people (and resources) who have what you are missing.

Any Future Plans? My next venture under Chase Passion in which I help other beautypreneurs (and solopreneurs) to take their businesses from barely surviving to succesfully thriving. As I've learned so much as a business owner, and continue to do so (I am currently one of 35 enrollees in a Women's Entrepreneurship certification through Cornell University) my desire is to help others (women specifically) in creating and successfully running their own venture.
Any advice for future entrepreneurs? About Your Business
Eight years ago I was working in the corporate world in New York City. But I wasn't happy. I had everything one could want in life. But I still wasn't happy. So I sold everything I owned, bought a one-way ticket to Paris, grabbed my tiny laptop and was determined to find a way to make money with it and go to the beach every day. After a visit to my family in southern Italy, I felt I had finally found my place and decided to stay. It took several years of hard work and ups and downs and massive wins with massive falls, but I was able to build a six-figure business that I run from home and yes I still do go to the beach every day.
Has it been easy?? ,
Absolutely not!!! I cried. I lost sleep. I spent hours and hours on my computer. I got lots of clients. I lost lots of clients. I had clients with incredible results that I have worked with for years. And clients who told me I was horrible. The emotional journey that came along with the entrepreneurial journey was not quite one I was expecting. But overall I am very happy with the woman I have become because of it all.

7 steps to success Step 1, Decide What you Want: Decide exactly what it is you want in each part of your life. Become a “meaningful specific” rather than a “wandering generality.” Step 2, Write it down: Write it down, clearly and in detail. Always think on paper. A goal that is not in writing is not a goal at all. It is merely a wish and it has no energy behind it. Step 3, Set a Deadline: Set a deadline for your goal. A deadline acts as a “forcing system” in your subconscious mind. It motivates you to do the things necessary to make your goal come true. If it is a big enough goal, set sub-deadlines as well. Don’t leave this to chance. Step 4, Make a List: Make a list of everything that you can think of that you are going to have to do to achieve your goal. When you think of new tasks and activities, write them on your list until your list is complete. Step 5, Organize Your List: Organize your list into a plan. Decide what you will have to do first and what you will have to do second. Decide what is more important and what is less important. And then write out your plan on paper, the same way you would develop a blueprint to build your dream house. Step 6, Take Action: take action on your plan. Do something. Do anything. But get busy. Get going. Step 7, Do Something Every Day: Do something every single day that moves you in the direction of your most important goal at the moment. Develop the discipline of doing something 365 days each year that is moving you forward. You will be absolutely astonished at how much you accomplish when you utilize this formula in your life every single day.

Keep your eyes and ears open for new things. Are there newer or better ways to market your products and services? Are customers asking for something you're not offering? Is there a different type of customer you should be targeting? Get answers by reading everything you can about your industry and listening to your customers.

INTERVIEW WITH DEVON BAEZA TELL US YOUR STORY My story is a little unconventional! After getting a degree in Finance, I went to beauty school to get a cosmetology license. I managed multiple salons and eventually opened my own in order to work for myself. During those years, my husband and I started fertility treatments. It changed my life in every way! One of the biggest stresses during that time was figuring out how to pay for it all. For years, every penny of my paycheck went to treatment. We were faced with these huge financial decisions, and had no one to help us make them. After successfully paying for $30,000 worth of treatment, having a healthy baby via IVF, and then using everything we learned to pay off $50,000 of debt, I knew I had to share what I had learned. I went back to school to be trained as a life coach and serve women who are where I was years ago, stressed to the max and struggling through the darkest time of their life. any obstacles or challenges? There have been countless struggles along the way. Infertility was it's own struggle, full of ups and down. In retrospect, it prepared me. Entrepreneurship is the same! It is full of ups and downs. Small victories followed by self doubt and overwhelm. There have been plenty of practical struggles like parenting 2 small children, moving across the country multiple times, and building an online business from scratch. The ultimate challenge in being an AlphaBabe Boss is internal. The challenge is to become who you were meant to be. To trust the process, hold on to your vision for your business, and get back up every time you get knocked down. That's the hardest part.

As The Fertility Finance Coach, I help women make, save, and manifest money for treatment. Infertility is one of those things you can't fully understand unless you've gone through it personally. I found that there was no specialized help when I needed it the most during my years of treatment, so I became the coach I wished I would have had. Someone to not only help me with ways to save money on meds and services, and ways to make more money, but also how to change my money mindset. That was the missing piece for me, the one they didn't teach in any of my finance classes!
Once I received specialized training, and removed my money blocks, crazy awesome stuff started manifesting in my life! What I am most proud of is my client's results. It never ceases to amaze me how much progress these strong women can make in such a short period of time. I am excited to see what the next year brings. Finding new ways to help women during the most "trying" of their life will always be my purpose and passion.
