ALINA ALDEA Romania, 1974 Alina Aldea succeeds in capturing the feeling of fragility and uncertainty of the present time by resorting to abstract geometric constructions executed in rigorous black and white. These compositions show a succession of linear wefts and structures arranged in an orderly fashion in space, producing multidimensional visual effects on the flat background. The alignments described cross the surface, weaving themselves into the void to draw patterns generated by repeating, except for slight variations, the same line that ends up extending beyond the limits imposed by the support.
Alina Aldea logra plasmar el sentimiento de fragilidad e incertidumbre propio del momento actual recurriendo a unas construcciones geométricas abstractas ejecutadas en un riguroso blanco y negro. Estas composiciones muestran una sucesión de tramas lineales y estructuras dispuestas ordenadamente en el espacio, produciendo efectos visuales multidimensionales sobre el fondo plano. Las alineaciones descritas atraviesan la superficie tejiéndose en el vacío para dibujar patrones generados a fuerza de repetir, salvo mínimas variaciones, un mismo trazado que se acaba prolongando más allá de los límites que impone el soporte.
The opacity of the background only increases the resonance of the light; in fact, some of the drawings resemble a kind of rays or beams that emit their own vibration and radiance, reinforcing the sensation of weightlessness, while at the same time giving off a dynamic sense that harks back to the origins of perceptual abstraction. However, the apparent synchrony seems to be on the verge of breaking down, as all these formations end up folding in on themselves or confronting others of greater density and volume, which provokes a certain tension and instability, as if the forces of entropy were to act at any moment, jeopardizing the presumed order and equilibrium of the system.
La opacidad del fondo no hace más que acrecentar la resonancia de la luz; de hecho, algunos dibujos se asemejan a una especie de rayos o haces que emiten su propia vibración y resplandor, lo que refuerza la sensación de ingravidez, al tiempo que repercute en un sentido dinámico que remite a los orígenes de la abstracción perceptual. Sin embargo, la aparente sincronía parece estar a punto de quebrarse, pues todas estas formaciones se acaban plegando sobre sí mismas o confrontando con otras de mayor densidad y volumen, lo que provoca cierta tensión e inestabilidad, como si las fuerzas de la entropía fuesen a actuar de un momento a otro poniendo en jaque el presunto orden y equilibrio del sistema.
