Altea Grau vive y trabaja en Londres, donde combina la práctica artística con su investigación doctoral en la London University of The Arts. Especializada en grabado, investiga el libro y la página y sus implicaciones estéticas y emocionales en el proceso de comunicación.

A través de ideas estrechamente vinculadas al concepto de página como la dualidad, el eco, el reflejo o la página plegable, la obra de Altea Grau investiga los procesos de comunicación convencionales y el concepto de página como mecanismo de relación.

Descritas como “alusiones a los textos”, sus obras reclaman un acercamiento curioso, una mirada íntima de sus espectadores. Casi imperceptibles, las obras de Grau pueden definirse como un nuevo rastro de escritura, correspondiente a palabras silenciadas que permanecen lo suficientemente perceptibles como para impulsar la imaginación.

Una posición contraria en la que el borrado de la palabra escrita se metamorfosea para siempre en signos, marcas y acciones que nos permiten recuperar el aliento y hacer uso de un lenguaje capaz de modificar radicalmente nuestra vida.

Proporcionando la capacidad de desactivar las interpretaciones unidireccionales sobre la historia y la escritura hacia nuevas formas de comunicar lo incomunicable. Altea Grau lives and works in London, where she combines art practice with her doctoral research at the London University of the Arts. Specialized in printmaking, she investigates the book and the page and their aesthetic and emotional implications in the communication process.

Through ideas closely linked to the concept of page such as duality, echo, reflection or the idea of folding page, Altea Grau’s work investigates conventional communication processes and the idea of the page as a relating mechanism.

Describing her works as “allusions to texts”, her artworks call upon a curious approach, an intimate look from its viewers. Almost imperceptible, Grau’s works can be defined as a new trace of writing, corresponding to silenced words that remain just perceptible enough to propel one’s imagination.

A counter position where the erasure of the written word is forever metamorphed as signs, mark and actions that enable us to recover the breath and make use of a language capable of radically modifying our life.
