SC Sessions

SC Sessions

by AM19 Taiwan News Team

In the modern era, social media obviously plays an important role in human rights promotion, providing people with more effective manners to contribute to the world. To have a deeper insight into ’’what a medical student or a doctor could do for human rights”, We could refer to the SC sessions. SC sessions start off with lively team building activities, shaping the bound among each team in a dynamic way. Besides, directors introduce their significant team to all delegates. SCOPH, the standing committee of Public Health, the orange family, dedicates to empowering future leaders, and to promoting health on both local and global levels. Warmly welcoming everyone to the world of SCOPHeroes, they share opinions on various topics from climate issues, community connection, suicide to life care. SCORA, the Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV and AIDS, tries their best to raise awareness on topics related to HIV/AIDS and reproductive health. During the session, they provides skills to raise public awareness locally and globally, and gives some information about the past efforts and talks about what we can do in the future. (The session also digs into the topic of how gender stereotypes affect the lives of several people.) (The session also digs into the topic of how gender stereotypes affect the lives of several people.). Exchange has the contagious spirit to break through the barrier of cultural discrepancy and vision gap. The phenomenon I have seen in exchange is that a few numbers of people step out to feel the different aspects of the world; their are positively changed and afterwards, they bring back new, different and innovative perspective into their homeland. It is the strength of spreading and sharing.

Vol.3 2019.08.04 Sun. Also, SCOPE, the standing committee of Professional Exchange, which aims to promote cultural understandings and cooperation amongst medical students through exchange programs to the hospitals. During the SCOPE session, the uncertainties and tasks members have confronted are discussed through the Q&A time led by the exchange director, Tanya Zebrova. Experiences, impressions and feedbacks are proposed, along with explanations and brainstormings of SCOPE’s strategic plans, issues and so many others has also gotten in full swing. On the other hand, SCORE, the standing committee of Research Exchange supervises and coordinates the IFMSA research exchange programs, run by NMOs of IFMSA on a national level. “You can learn about literature studies, data collecting, scientific editing, laboratory working, statistics, and medical ethics all in here.’ announces the director, Erwin BarbozaMolinas . He also mentions about the SCORE Strategic Plan 2016-2019, which contains three pillars that form the core values in every work

SC Sessions of SCORE: Academic Quality, Impact, and Sustainability. With the positive impact of the Strategic Plan, they have made great steps forward, especially on the aspect of academic quality. Now their priority is to transform the current Strategic Plan into a practical timeline in alignment. As today’s conclusion, we medical students, organizations, governments, and social media are thought to be equally significant in humanitarian campaign. We should spare no efforts making the planet a better place, fighting for all human rights. At SCOME, the standing committee of Medical Exchange, delegates start off sharing their views of current medical education. Apart from sharing viewpoints, current difficulties are also proposed during the discussion. ’’What students truly need is distinctly different from what you think,’’ said some delegates. The SCOME discussion unleashes delegates’ imaginations and allows idealistic proposals. No matter whether it is practical, at least the SCOME members have tried to figure out approachable methods and initiate new perspectives. To have more insights into’’ What a medical student or a doctor could do for human rights‘’, SCORP delegates are divided into two groups for discussion. Delegates from all over the world begins analyzing the situation of human rights in their regions. Also, their humanitarian campaign experiences are shared and reflects on the way it has been done.Stories in Africa,Poland,Finland and so on are told and inspires all of the participants. In conclusion, we medical students, organizations, governments, and social media play an equally significant role in humanitarian campaigns. We should spare no efforts making the planet a better place and fighting for all human rights.

the use of force disproportionate in Hong Kong

Facing threatening conflicts, Hong Kong was first faced with the so-called Umbrella Movement in response to an electoral reform plan, then the controversial extradition bill recently, raising a wide-ranging international attention. During the first day of regional sessions, AMSA-HK stood in front of the Asia-Pacific region, seriously setting forth the precarious and unstable situation in HK.

“This is the biggest ‘It has inflicted bodily harm, emotional harm, and social fear. all, it has also caused restricted access to healthcare: our threat to public Above basic rights of access to healthcare have been infringed. is now passing out post-its for everyone to write safety in decades.” AMSA-HK encouraging messages that they will bring back to Hong Kong. The petition on the famous ‘Lennon Wall’ was mentioned and showed to be adorned with colorful post-its and notes with thoughts and wishes for people in HK, as well as those in Taipei. Some see the extradition bill as China's latest effort to chip away the political autonomy. Indeed, it is on the other hand foraging HK people’s expectation for democracy and freedoms. Training Sessions

Training Sessions

by AM19 Taiwan News Team

In the duration of training sessions, 15 mini workshops were opened in regards with different topics. The wide diversity of topics selected allow participants to choose out of their interests and orientations.

• Leadership Style ‘’Leadership is about vision and responsibility.’’ ‘’Leadership is not about the power; being a boss is so different from a leader.’’ During the leadership sessions, delegates are asked to identify themselves with qualities which qualities they should equip as a leader. Furthermore, they show a vector diagram integrating directive behavior and supportive behavior. To become a brilliant leader, you should educate people in a proper manner, provide them with proper information, and the most productive way to fulfill the core goal. Also, you should motivate your team, be a friend instead of a supervisor, to make your team members feel comfortable to be with you, in so your crew will be inspired to contribute. A good leader would lead to a better outcome.

• Debating Starting from questioning the presence of a debate session, participants point out convincing keys of why debating is a necessary skill. Debating is not to have a conflict or irrational argument with counterparts, instead it is an occasion to positively reflect on the process and result. The training sessions provide opportunities for participants to find out the vital elements and required skills while debating; participants are willing to exchange opinions, and they stroke up a warm friendship with one another.

• Conflict management The session begins with a game that requires delegates to team up a group of two, and respectively raise an argument on a specific topic. At first, they communicate via arguing, and then they exchange opinions in a reasonable approach. After addressing problems through the two manners, they compare the pros and cons of the two ways. The Director then mentions the seven stages in a conflict, and it’s crucial to prevent all from happening, as a result, a mediator is needed when conflict takes place, who has to know the right timing to interfere based on the theory the director provides. Allowing participating delegates to apply the communicative strategies to their daily lives, the Conflict Management is such a fruitful training session.

Go Green!

Go Green!

by AM19 Dept. Green & Sustainability

To cause less damage to our environment, the Department of Green and Sustainability is determined to hold a “Green Conference”. Here are some simple tips that we can follow together:

1. EAT Green! ü Reduce Food Waste Don’t overestimate your own appetite! At the buffet, fill your plate mindfully so that the terrible hunger around the world can stop worsening.

2. LIVE Green! ü Save Energy We call for our cooperation to set the air conditioner to 26~28°C, and always remember to turn off all the power supply when leaving your hotel room.

ü Conserve Water ü Eat Less Meat So that we can reduce the emission of greenhouse gases during raising livestock.

ü Use Reusable Cutleries The bottled water and disposable cutleries will produce lots of waste and will harm our beloved Earth. Thus, we won’t offer them anymore . Please bring your own water bottles (or cups) and reusable utensils to GA!

Turn the faucets off after using them. And take shorter showers instead of taking a long bath. Both ways would save a great deal of water!

ü Reduce Trash Bring your own personal daily necessities instead of using one-time supplies. Also, bring your own shopping bags, and always remember to recycle.

ü Reduce Trash It will definitely be fun to explore Taipei by public transportations . We have Youbikes, MRT and buses all around this city. Check them out and enjoy your trip!
