Playing the monarch would be a daunting task for anyone, but surely BAFTA-winning actress Olivia Colman is better equipped to pull off the required amount of pomp and posterity? As she prepares to take on The Crown, the talented star reveals her hopes and fears at undertaking the most high-profile of high society roles.
W
hen it was announced that Olivia Colman would be stepping into Claire Foy’s bespoke heels to play Her Majesty in the third series of The Crown, there was an audible sigh of relieffrom the corridors of Buckingham Palace… probably. And if there wasn’t, there should have
been. After all, Colman is already royalty in her own right as the established queen of prime-time drama, in award-winning shows Broadchurch and The Night Manager. It therefore made perfect sense for her to ascend to surely the greatest role of her career, in the Netflixproduced series.
While her very British face, cool but entirely likeable demeanour, and measured, clipped accent reveal that, yes, there is certainly something very regal about the Cambridge-educated star, Colman reveals there is much work to be done in perfecting her portrayal. “They’re giving me a 7

great voice coach who will make sure I speak like the Queen,” she begins, “so I’ll just learn the lines and try to copy exactly what they do. Plus, Claire Foy has let me know I can call if I need to, so I’ve got support coming from all quarters!” Taking on the role of a living icon is fraught with a variety of hazards, particularly when it also means succeeding an actress who won a Golden Globe for her interpretation of the character. It has left even the seemingly unflappable Colman in something of a spin. “I got a phone call from my agent when I was in a car to tell me I had been asked to meet with director Peter Morgan,” she says. “I think I had fairly recently finished watching the first series – all in about three nights flat – and so I was very excited. My agent was trying to be subtle, not knowing who was in the car with me… ‘It’s something about a tiara,’, and I went, ‘Oh, it’s The Crown!’; I just couldn’t hold it back. “I’m so thrilled to be part of it. Claire is an absolute genius and an incredibly hard act to follow, but I will give it my all.” Picking up from where Foy left off, the third and fourth series will span
the years 1964-76. And though little has been revealed by show-runner Peter Morgan – not even a specific release date beyond “definitely 2019” – the timeline tells us that Colman’s storylines will involve Queen Elizabeth II cultivating a firm bond with Prime Minister of the period Harold Wilson, plus the decolonisation of Africa and the Caribbean. There’s also the birth of Prince Edward (March 1964), then Charles’s coronation as Prince of Wales and
that during filming of the second series of Broadchurch she was so terrified that someone might get hold of the scripts that she’d burn a few pages every time she lit a fire. She takes her work very seriously, and with tremendous results too, having achieved four BAFTAs and an Oscar as well as two Emmy nominations. Yet she is not one to treat herself with the same brevity as others in the spotlight, and draws a very clear line between the notion of an artist and a celebrity, visibly recoiling at the suggestion she is a national treasure. “It’s my job and that’s about it. It’s roleplay and a bit of dramatic licence thrown in. I love what I do but I only feel like I am just getting going and I never want to get above myself.”
subsequent move into the public eye. It’s also thought we may see the first appearance Camilla ParkerBowles. With ilming in July, there’s still months of speculation and awkward red carpet moments, with Colman dodging spoiler-seeking interviewers. But the actress is a dab hand at keeping secrets, having revealed previously
Colman also fiercely protects the privacy of her family – husband of 18 years Ed Sinclair and their three children – revealing that while her work is a vital part of her being, she would never accept a role that would greatly jeopardise their homelife. “I don’t like being away from my kids - it’s as simple as that. As long as I have Ed and the children, everything is all right.” 9

What can people expect from the new tour? A trip into their/my past, the young hazy days of fancy free teen life, Jackie magazine, Top Of The Pops, tartan trousers, and all the Bay City Rollers hit songs performed as close as can be achieved to the originals and vocalised by the original voice on all the hits.
Does it bother you being described as a one hit wonder when you’re obviously so popular with well, more than 1 hit! I’ve never heard that, I have no idea who would have made such an obvious faux pas.

The 151st Open will be played at Royal Liverpool (Hoylake) from 10-17 July 2022

t's 13th time that golf’s original championship has been played over the famous links where many of the greatest names in the sport have lifted the iconic Claret Jug.
when The Open was played at Hoylake in 2006, which was a record attendance for a Championship held outside of St Andrews until the total was surpassed at Royal Birkdale in 2017.
The Open was last played here in 2014 when Rory McIlroy become the third golfer from Northern Ireland to win the Championship. More than 230,000 fans turned out to watch Tiger Woods lift the Claret Jug
Martin Slumbers, Chief Executive of The R&A, said, “The Open has a strong affinity with England’s Golf Coast and following the success of the Championship at Royal Birkdale two years ago we know that there will be

tremendous excitement among golf fans at the prospect of its return to Royal Liverpool.” Sir Ian Gilmore, Captain of Royal Liverpool, said, “We are thrilled to be hosting The Open at Hoylake again – the thirteenth to be held here. Support for world class sport in Merseyside and the North West is intense and passionate. Fans will turn out in force expecting another great winner to join the pantheon
Now the world knows that The Open returns to Hoylake in 2022 and everyone connected with the Club is excited at the prospect. Since returning to The Open rotation in 2006 Hoylake has hosted two world class winners in Tiger Woods (2006) and Rory McIlroy (2014). Here we look back at how “Rory Won The Open”. Rory McIlroy was most definitely made to work for the honour of becoming the first European to win three of the four majors. Real champions can withstand real pressure and, thanks to Sergio García, the tension verged on excruciating as McIlroy’s six-shot lead began to tumble. The 25-year-old hung tough, however, and in his two-shot victory, he revealed a new facet to his evermore impressive armoury. You cannot win every one of your majors by eight shots. When McIlroy tapped in for a 71 and a 17-under total, he smiled and subtly
punched his fist. It was the reaction of a player who expected to deliver. So much for a nerveless coronation, so much for McIlroy’s opening birdie, courtesy of a 15-footer, draining his rivals of all their spirit early. García belied his reputation, refusing to give up on his dream, despite starting the day seven behind. Eight years ago here at Royal Liverpool, García wore all yellow in the final group and Woods texted friends to say he “bludgeoned Tweetie Pie”. Well, for so long out there the canary had a gas. Of the active pros, only Lee Westwood (66) has played more majors without winning, but on his 64th attempt García, so often the bridesmaid, threatened to charge the altar. García went to the turn in threeunder, birdieing the first, holing from 20 feet on the third and picking up another on the par-five fifth. When McIlroy had consecutive bogeys on the fifth and sixth his seven-shot advantage had been reduced to
three, with Rickie Fowler, McIlroy’s playing partner, within four. There had been the air of certainty, but suddenly anxiety filled the atmosphere. The one concern for them were the two par-fives in Hoylake’s closing trio, which can create wild fluctuations. García had a 25-footer for eagle, but left it short. He was within two again, but after a ridiculously long drive, McIlroy hit the green and so almost putted in for eagle. Three up, two to play – all over in matchplay and with McIlroy in this mood, practically over in strokeplay as well. There was one moment of angst when McIlroy’s approach on the 18th located a bunker. Yet he only needed a six and when he splashed out to 12 feet he could start the celebration. Rose McIlroy had not been at the 2011 US Open or the 2012 US PGA, so she received first hugs. “This one is for you mum,” McIlroy said at the prize-giving.
'An amazing week' Rory McIlroy, 2014 Open Champion

of great Champion Golfers who have won at Hoylake – Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy being the last two – a testament to the quality of our course that always seems to find the world’s best golfer. Roll on 2022!” Steve Rotheram, Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region, said, “The Open is one of the world’s great sporting events and it is great news that it is returning once again to our city region, home to some of the most iconic courses in golf, including Royal Liverpool. 18
“The Championship will undoubtedly provide a massive economic boost to the whole of the city region economy and will put the Wirral, one of the gems in our crown, in the global spotlight. We look forward to welcoming the golf fans from around the world who will flock to Hoylake in their tens of thousands, providing a tremendous opportunity to highlight what our city region has to offer.” Leader of Wirral Council, Councillor Phil Davies, added, “We are thrilled
to be welcoming the world’s best golfers back to Hoylake. The last time The Open was held on our peninsula our local businesses in Wirral and across the region enjoyed an economic boost to the tune of £76 million.” “The impact of an event of this scale – the global profile, thousands of visitors – is just fantastic for everyone in our borough. Local shops, restaurants and every resident, I am sure, will already be counting the days to what is always a special occasion.”

leep deprivation can have a big impact on your home life, work life, relationships and general well-being, not to mention causing suppressed appetites and of course grouchiness for the whole family. Your child’s erratic sleep patterns can affect their day-time routine, creating a vicious cycle of family exhaustion it is at this point the parent(s) and child are surviving on adrenaline and are no longer having good quality stages of sleep. There is no right or wrong way to parent; we don’t receive a manual, however, it is only at the point of clients hitting a brick wall, thinking ‘this does not work for our family anymore’ and feel it is time to implement positive changes, that they contact me to help give them guidance, knowledge, routine, structure and most importantly a full night’s sleep! Most of the time, the erratic behaviour has started within the child’s routine quite early on, for whatever reason the erratic behaviour begins, a body’s

sleep clock only takes 3-4 days to settle into new timings, then it will usually automatically continue to wake at set times each day. This, thrown in with the waking association of being attended to, whether ‘attending to’ is giving a feed, putting the dummy back in, picking up the child to cuddle then putting them back down, children will wake up and know no different to the fact that they wake up and in their mind, this equates to being attended to. To bring a rested night’s sleep, we first need to: • Eliminate all the old body clocks (sleep clocks, food clocks if any and implement new ones. • Eliminate the awake association of being attended to and instead implement new, good quality sleep, teaching them to naturally fall back asleep, unless at genuine times when they are in need of being attended to.
I am a huge believer that, at times of sickness, then all ‘rules’ of staying in their own bed should ‘go out of the window’. At a time when they really just need to be nurtured, whether being held or sat/ sleep with you away from their own bed – they are not robots after all, they are children – and sleeptraining does not mean we do not nurture; we are simply setting boundaries and implementing good sleep habits that will set them up for the rest of their childhood years.

anchester brand KINTSUGI launches at Manchester Fashion Week and hopes to be the first UK brand to appeal to both disabled and non-disabled consumers. Emma McClelland, who launched the brand this week, said, “Kintsugi is an inclusive fashion brand, creating on-trend womenswear with disabled women in mind. We use universal design to make clothing that can be worn and enjoyed to the greatest extent possible by all people, regardless of age or body type. To ensure its collections are truly inclusive, Kintsugi incorporates suggestions from across the disabled community, making fastenings easier and less fiddly, considering how clothes will work in a seated position, and adding functionality to make each garment work harder for its wearer. The result is clothing that everyone can wear. Our collection is not exclusively for disabled
30
people. What I’m trying to do is create inclusive fashion that can be worn by anyone. My disabled customers don’t want a separate offering when it comes to clothes – they want to wear the same as non-disabled people. So my aim is to design clothing that looks like any other – and can be worn by anyone – but makes life easier for people who are disabled or have certain
health conditions that need to be taken into account. The brand takes its name from the Japanese art form and philosophy of kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with gold lacquer – an important reminder that we do not need to hide our physical or emotional scars, as they are what make us unique.”

The stunning Schronbrunn palace epitomises Viennese style with beautiful architecture built to rival the French Palace of Versailles. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is set in a 460 acre garden fitted with water monuments and breath-taking statues. The picturesque views from the high points of the garden would make for the perfect photograph to capture the
skyline, the gothic towers are visible from streets away and the over 700 year old cathedral is centrally located on Stephansplatz square, within then UNESCO-listed historic centre. The Wiener Riesenrad The Weiner Reisenrad is a 65 metre tall Ferris
wheel located at Prater amusement park in Leopoldstadt, the 2nd district of Austria’s capital Vienna. The huge wheel was built in 1897 to mark the 50th year of Emperor Franz Joseph’s accession to the throne. One of Vienna’s most iconic landmarks allows for spectacular views of the city from a fun and unusual vantage point. There are many more things to enjoy in Vienna, like attending a concert with musical stylings of Mozart and Johann Strauss or visiting the WeinMusuem and learning about Vienna’s long history. Simply wandering through Vienna’s streets and sightseeing across the city by foot or bus will be sure to satisfy travellers who appreciate culture and fine architecture. Lifestyle is heading to Lanzarote…
L
anzarote Retreats are heading for the sun soaked island in May. The resort has set the benchmark for sustainable eco-holiday accommodation for over 12 years, by providing a luxury holiday experience that nurtures the stunning environment that surrounds an area of unspoiled natural beauty. Lanzarote’s flagship location, Finca De Arrieta, sits behind the locals’ favourite La Garita beach, a stunning retreat combining opulently styled Mongolian yurts alongside traditional stone cottages and farmhouse accommodation. This region in North Lanzarote was chosen as it is free from the commercial tourism located in the south. Here is where you can discover the rural
Lanzarote, rich with beautiful landscapes and unspoiled coastlines. Lanzarote Retreats co-founder Tila Braddock said: “Back in 2007 few people knew what a yurt was, the term ‘glamping’ didn’t even exist, to pitch a concept in Lanzarote as an ‘alternative anything’ was looked on with suspicion. The combination of beautiful accommodation, stunning surroundings and a secure place with endless adventures for their children, all in harmony with the environment, these factors come together to create an unforgettable experience. This
means they leave with memories that can last a lifetime, it empowers parents to see they can make changes that will contribute to bettering the future of this planet.” Read the full review in the June issue and check out the pictures on social media.

ow what a month this has been!!! Obviously the highlight being the Lifestyle Awards which has been the biggest party of the year so far and celebrating 10 years of successful people and businesses in this City! Amanda Moss as always pulled out all the stops and it was an honour to host this prestigious event for the second year running! Not only were there awards galore but superb entertainment and extra special performance from Amanda’s daughter Honey with the fabulous Marc Kenny – which brought us all to tears with how beautiful it was.

We celebrated International Women’s Day and I hosted a Q&A at Everton for groups of school girls from across the North West. I was joined by 2 of the Everton Ladies Team and the girls who do different roles within the Club and they are all fantastic role models, giving the girls something to aspire to be.
I was invited by The Princes Trust to attend their annual awards at The London Palladium which was truly one of the most humbling experiences I have had. Hearing the stories of these youngsters and how the Charity has literally changed their lives was incredible. It was fabulous to be back at the Titanic Hotel running “Box on the Docks” for my good friend Jamie Mcvey and Cash for Kids … Jamie sadly lost his son James and he is raising money to have
a park built for a safe place for people to go. It’s also the one night of the year that my son Michael allows us to have a photograph taken and I have the most gorgeous plus one by taking him on my arm! We had the launch of The Wizard of Oz Easter Panto at The Epstein…and I get to wear THE best dress ever as Glinda – I am so looking forward to working with such a fantastic cast .. and I’m just wondering how I can sneak past Producer Lee Kelly in the dress so I can wear it all the time !!! A great sales person can become a great manager ... it happens sometimes. But it’s unlikely for one simple and compelling reason ... they are totally different jobs. Sales People and Sales Managers require very different skills and competencies ... and a different mind-set. I’ve seen some really great sales people and the best ones tend to be ‘lone wolves’ … they have a winning style but they can’t always describe exactly what it is that makes them successful. They enjoy the hunt and often they enjoy being in the spotlight. They are inherently ‘selfish’ (not always in a bad way) ... they like to get a deal done ... be top of the leader board ... earn the bonus ... and generally be seen as an achiever. So their motivation is personal success. On the other hand great managers of sales people
44
get their kicks through the success of others. They nurture talent ... they can (and will) have their own interests at heart ... but they see the route to fulfilment through growing the skills and success of their team. It’s the developing, coaching and motivating that gives them their kicks. Top sales people and great leaders are just different ... they have a different DNA. It is true that to manage sales people you need to know the job and its best if you have a half decent track record ... this is where you get your credibility to lead. But it’s not necessary to have been a worldbeater. So when your top sales person lobbies for the manager job be very careful that you don’t walk into the ’double disaster’. If the promoted ‘top sales person’ ends up struggling in the new role their own
bonus suffers … and a team will resent a poor leader … often you will get personality clashes and performance issues ... even people leaving. Then there is the ‘failure’ label … failure doesn’t sit well with a top sales person ... there is the indignity of having to return to their previous sales role ... perhaps they lose their mojo for a few months ... all of which can be avoided. You can have a good career without moving up the management ladder ... so make sure you create a career path for your high performers … that way you retain them in your business whilst giving them a status and a reward that matches their high contribution. Think hard about who you groom for leadership … your business depends on it.

EMMAPRIVILEGE A
pril sees the the new spring season come into bloom. The plants are coming to life again, the trees have buds on them and there is colour everywhere. The month of growth, the month of renewal, the month of change. The seasons have the power to influence our mood, lives and perspectives, yet we can be so aimless in using the seasons to help us create change in our life. Spring is such a symbolic season, change, fresh, new beginnings, and when it comes to spring we grab our cleaning products, roll up our sleeves and set to ridding our homes anything we don’t need anymore, but we don’t always look at the energy in our life.
46
Is it even possible to remove negativity? Firstly recognise that the only person that you have any control over is you. We can’t control anyone else’s behaviour, attitude or decisions. When we realise this we automatically begin
to take the power back and in the power we understand that having control of ourself means having the absolute power to recreate. Another way to spring clean your life is to be aware of what things, people, and situations make you feel ‘icky’ I bet you instantly then knew exactly what those things were right? You wouldn’t know that there was a mouldy old apple in the fruit bowl an leave it there expecting all the other fruit to be fresh, so why shouldn’t life be the same? It’s even more important then the fruit bowl! What’s mouldy? It needs to go into the bin. It’s the perfect time for letting go of things that dont serve you. That can mean the 3 size too small jeans that make you feel bad every time you open the wardrobe, but also that can mean feelings,
and situations. We get the choice in every moment to choose how we perceive things, we have the power to say ‘Its time for me to let this go. When we spring clean our lives we take control of making them fresh, clear and ready for the good. What would you have to do to make that happen? what would it take? You can start the next part of the year clearer, fresher, and free from negativity with a little spring clean.

Crai g’s Mont lhy Tip Fitting vertical window blinds. When choosing your blinds whether vertical or horizontal it’s always wise to get the company who is making them for you to come out and do their own site survey of your windows and take their own measurements. Fitting them couldn’t be easier. Take a measurement of the length of your blind and transfer the level from your window sill up to the top section of your frame. Allow a further ten to fifteen millimetres so when the blind is installed it doesn’t quite touch the top of your sill. Place your first bracket into position and mark your screw holes with a pencil. Using your pistol grip screwdriver insert a two millimetre wood drill piece, drill two pilot holes. These are done for two reasons; one to stop the wood from splitting and secondly to allow you to drive the screws in easier. Change the head on your screwdriver from a drill bit to a screw driver bit and drive your screws in holding the first bracket firmly in position. Using a spirit level transfer the level across your window and repeat the same for your second bracket. Simply clip the top rail into your two brackets and then again using your screwdriver bit tighten up the support screw which should firmly hold your blind into position.

Discover your new car detailing centre Car cleaning of the highest quality Detailing is the renovation & aesthetic preparation of any vehicle from the automobile cosmetics. Detailing allows to process a vehicle in depth to remove impurities embedded in the varnish (insects, tar, ferrous particles, road film, bird droppings) and correcting defects caused by poor maintenance such as car wash, rollers or water-free washing. These bad washing techniques are the source of micro scratches, holograms and other defects which remove the gloss and give a dull appearance to your body. With a complete and adapted treatment, your vehicle regains brilliance and shine as in the first days.
We do the ceramic protection and polishes. We vacuum and shampoo your seats to remove all the dirt and stains to the highest quality. We have a great range of special knowledge on old and new vehicles.
