sn’t it about time we showed gratitude to the people and businesses that make every day a little bit happier? From life coaches to business mentors; ordinary, strong, resilient people who have risen up against their struggles to achieve extraordinary things through an unwavering positive outlook on life and determination to succeed. The Positive Awards strives to be one of the most prestigious networking dinners of year. Mindfulness is the fastest growing industry with more people than ever promoting peace and prosperity. It’s been
scientifically proven to reduce stress and enhance our physical wellbeing. No wonder everyone wants a slice of it. It’s hosted by one of the UK’s top mind performance coach, Darren Lawrenson, who specialises in maximising people’s performance, focusing on goal setting, self esteem and personal achievement. The Positive Awards is an opportunity to say thank you for the inspiration these special people have brought into our lives. Awards’ organiser, Amanda Moss, said, “We’re so busy being busy that so often
we forget to stop and take a breath and remind each other how brilliant we all are. It’s so important to recognise other people doing amazing things everyday. We don’t know what battles people have faced to get where they are and it’s time for these people to shine and share their achievements to inspire others to do the same. We’re all capable of limitless possibilities if we set our minds to do something, it’s often our subconscious and fear preventing us to reach to greater heights, But these winners show us that nothing is impossible.”

t’s a new season and everyone’s back to work, refreshed and ready for new opportunities. I hope you made wonderful memories over the summer but it’s time to look forward. I have always taken risks in life and this month is no exception with the Los Angeles Lifestyle Fashion Showcase taking place on the 10th followed by The Positive Awards on the 20th. Two events on both side of the Atlantic promoting a platform of positivity. These events are a reminder that anything is possible when we put our minds to it and opportunity is all around us. These events show us that we are capable of so much when we are focused and motivated and celebrate the achievements of extraordinary people and their skills. Also supporting this theory are our columnists Darren Lawrenson and Emma Privilege whose wise words you can read inside this issue.
As always Lifestyle’s packed with everything you could possible want for loving your life. We’re only on this earth a short time so make the most of your time. Go to the O2 Academy and see a live band, book tickets for the Southport Festival and have a laugh. Eat out at any of the hundreds of amazing restaurants in our city and do not neglect the suburbs with the likes of L’Olivetto and Holdi. Don’t forget to vote for your finalists in the Manchester Lifestyle Awards on 7 November too, for as we know North West is Best.

YOUR NATURALLY NATURALLY YOURS
Georgina Tang, owner of Your Naturally Naturally Yours talks about her revolutionary skincare brand as she heads to LA for the Los Angeles Lifestyle Fashion Showcase. “In December 2011, I made a life changing decision after attending a free bath bomb & soap making course offered by FACE in Liverpool. This inspired me to look for courses to expand my knowledge in this area and also l started learning to make natural skin care products as a hobby. A couple of years later, my son, Alessio started to receive chemotherapy for his Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. After the chemotherapy started, he developed skin problems, which were exacerbated by the treatment. Consequently, I decided to make natural “skin kind” products to minimise the skin problems. I made different types of body butters and massage oils to relieve the skin problems with success, so much so that Alessio was discharged from the Dermatology department. The consultant said she will be sending me her patients in the future as she was amazed by the power of natural products on some medical conditions! The chemotherapy also caused hair loss and skin to be hypersensitive. Coincidently, my neighbour had just finished chemotherapy for her breast cancer. Therefore, she was desperately looking for a neutral pH shampoo as advised by the medical professionals. I said I could make one if she could provide me some information and she did. After reading the “My new hair” booklet produced by a national charity which provides information, advice and support for people experiencing medical hair loss; I created an ultra-mild shampoo and conditioner to encourage the development of healthy hair with the help of my trainer, Sarah Jane of “Soapschool” and Sarah Baron from “Of a simple nature”. Not long after using the hair care products, Alessio and my neighbour have a full head of beautiful hair. More good news, my neighbour is in remission and she is doing very well. In terms of Alessio, chemotherapy didn’t work, so he has been put on the Anti-Tumour Necrosis Factor treatment, also known as Biological Therapy to manage his Arthritis for life. Some of the damage to his joints have actually been reversed slightly with this treatment, which is fantastic news! Essentially this was only meant to be a hobby making products on the kitchen table, just like the inspirational late Anita Roddick of Body Shop. It has now turned into a business providing employment to several local people and all our products are handmade here in the cultural city of Liverpool. This was only possible after I took a major gamble leaving a secure well paid job to focus on a business which was losing money in December 2015. A business that I believe would create sufficient funds to provide the future care costs for Alessio when I 6
am not around. Not only does Alessio has complex medical needs, he also has severe Autism and Learning Difficulties, so he requires 24/7 hours support. My main clients are from the beauty industry across England and Wales, as more people recognise natural & organic products are better than chemical based ones. In my company, we only make our skin kind products using high quality ingredients. Currently a new factory is being rebuilt in my back garden as my business has rapidly expanded in the past year. Yes a factory in my back garden as this is what my staff wanted. They would like to continue working in an informal and relaxed environment where they can see trees and a waterfall through the windows.”
My son has complex medical & educational needs and almost died on many occasions but 15 years later, he is standing tall and enjoying life to the fullest. I was told that he would never reach his first birthday by his consultant but miracle does happen because he is looking forward to celebrating his 16th birthday next week. I nursed him during the first three years of his life because my son had a tendency to stop breathing without any warnings, especially when he fell asleep, I had to stay up to watch over him which went on for a long time.
With £1 in my pocket and homeless 40 years ago, I now have a successful business, a portfolio of properties that I managed together with an estate agent. Furthermore, I do freelance inspection work with the Care Quality Commission. Finally, I have been a long standing Governor for Alder Hey Hospital, (second home for Alessio) as I am passionate about children’s health care. Despite all the above, I still find time to go away to our holiday home in North Wales regularly to have some quality family time and de-stress.

Weaving ON THE JOYS OF HORROR, CAMARADERIE ON THE SET AND HER THRILLING CAREER SO FAR.
Australian actor Samara Weaving stars in the gripping horror film READY OR NOT. She plays Grace, who is about to marry Alex the man of her dreams – which also means marrying into his rich and privileged family. The extravagant nuptials take place in the Le Domas clan’s massive mansion. But the wedding night turns deadly, when Grace’s strange new relatives insist that she participates in a bizarre, high-stakes game of Hide and Seek – apparently a wedding day ritual. Playing a kick-ass, resilient heroine, who refuses to become a victim, Weaving gives a powerful performance in the thriller, which is laced with black humor. Stylishly shot and full of suspense, the film also stars Andie MacDowell, Mark O’Brien and Adam Brody.
8
Q: What drew you to the role of Grace? A: “I love the genre of comedy horror films and it’s a great story. There are scares, but it’s also very funny. It’s great psychologically, because you are always secondguessing what everyone’s thinking. The theme is interesting too; for me,
it’s about the question ‘How well do you really know someone and, under pressure, what choices do you make?’ Q: Who is Grace and how do you portray her? A: “Grace has had a hard life; she was in and out of foster homes and has had to pave her own way in the
world. We learn that she became a waitress and met her future fiancé. There is this idea that she had her walls up and was really feisty when they met. She actually turned Alex down a couple of times before eventually saying yes to a date with him.” Q: She’s entering a strange family, whom she doesn’t know at all. What’s her motivation for jumping into marriage?
A: “It’s the fact that she lacked a family herself as a child, together with the abandonment and trauma she’s experienced. She literally had to fight to have a home and then get work in hospitality as a waitress. To get that far has taken a lot. So, when she meets her future husband, it’s very appealing that he has a close-knit family, because she really wants the stability she didn’t have in her own childhood.” Q: She’s a tough bad-ass heroine isn’t she? Was that challenging to play? A: “The action involved a lot of running and fighting, and I’m wearing a ripped wedding dress in minus 20 degrees – it’s snowing outside at two in the morning. But that wasn’t the hard part for me. The real challenge was that the cast and crew couldn’t stop laughing in very serious, scary scenes; we were in hysterics the whole time!” Q: Andie MacDowell is great in the film as your eccentric mother-in-law, Becky Le Domas. What was it like working with her? A: “She’s amazing. Becky is evil, but she’s delicately evil. She genuinely sees herself in Grace at the beginning of the film – that’s how she was when she was younger. It’s not
until Grace pulls that wrong card that it switches for Becky; she changes her attitude towards Grace, and for various reasons that we find out, she knows what has to be done … she thinks I need to die and that she has to be the one to do it! There is a great scene with Mark and Andie in the film, where she’s genuinely loving, but we also see how manipulative she is. Andie is hysterically funny, and she’s so sweet and surprising. We really connected.” Q: Was it frightening at all, filming a horror film in a big mansion? A: “It was spooky sometimes, especially at night when you hear creaks in the floor and you think: ‘Is that someone walking around or is that a ghost?’ That’s especially true because of the nature of the film.” Q: This isn’t your first experience starring in a psychological thriller or horror film. What’s the attraction? A: “I like doing them and my role in THE BABYSITTER opened a lot of doors for me. Filmmakers in the genre gravitated towards me, because I think they thought I could do it well.”
Q: After that, you’ll be starring in BILL & TED FACE THE MUSIC, a sequel to the cult classics, BILL & TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE and BILL & TED’S BOGUS JOURNEY, starring Keanu Reeves as Ted and Alex Winter as Bill? A: “Yes, it’s so exciting. Keanu and Alex are both back and it’s going to be absolutely amazing. I play Alex’s daughter, who his character, Bill, names Thea, after Ted. Bridget LundyPaine plays Ted’s daughter, who’s named after Bill – so she’s called Billy!” Q: Do you have a five- or ten-year plan? A: “I don’t even dare to do that. But I do have goals. I know that there’s a big difference between being famous and being successful. I want to be successful, fame is so fickle – and, in terms of roles, I want to do things that challenge and scare me. What I learned from HOME AND AWAY was that playing the same role [Indi Walker] for three years, you get to know the character and then you’re itching to do something new, something different, and you learn from every experience – and that’s what I want to do, keep learning.” 9

footfall) and work with traders to support their interests. Ultimately, we want the high street to be the heart of the community.
DO YOU ‘LOVE WAVERTREE’ TOO?
T
he high street in Wavertree, south Liverpool, is not what you’d call a bustling location, unless you class the heavy load of busy traffic travelling through. Most of its shops are either shuttered or have seen better times and it has gone through a period of decline for several years. In some ways, Wavertree High Street is not unique as this story is told all over the country. It has a story that certainly needs to be told and the #LoveWavertree campaign is aiming to do that. We are starting by holding a ‘community conversation’. To find out what is happening and to help connect the dots of the wonderful things already taking place.
10
So how do we know what the community want? We organised a survey and
community event to find out. With 360 responses from local business, residents and community groups, we are confident that we know the main issues. Overwhelmingly, people feel as though the high street needs investment and to be made cleaner and greener. Respondents made it clear that they can see a positive future for the high street that includes independent businesses but want to see work that will improve the appearance, reduce traffic, increase cycling and walking and enhance the historic character. So, what is our Vision for Wavertree High Street? Our vision for Wavertree High Street is to make local shops more popular with residents, build on the image of Wavertree as a tourist destination (as a way of increasing shoppers’
Optimistically, people believe that Wavertree Town Hall could be the “heart of the community” as a “community asset” in the future. It has been identified as a major issue with many people saying that it was sad to see the decline it has gone through. We agree, but Wavertree has so much more to offer, including England’s smallest House and Liverpool’s Oldest Shop Front…. And did you know that 2019 marks 40 years since the designation of Wavertree as a Conservation Area and the creation of The Rose Garden? In recognition of these historical events, we want to use the weekend of Heritage Open Days (22ND September) and international Car Free Day to create a “Love Wavertree, Go Car Free for a day festival”. We plan make Wavertree a hotbed of community activity for the day. Come along to Wavertree for the weekend of September 22nd as we all say #LoveWavertree

CLEAN AIR PLAN FUNDING BOOST LIVERPOOL City Council has been awarded an additional £652,000 by the Government to complete its clean air plan.
T
he money will be used to accelerate the preparation of the document, which needs to be finished by the end of October, and is in addition to £1 million which has already been received. Liverpool recently declared a climate change emergency and has pledged to cut its carbon output to zero by 2030, appointed a dedicated cabinet member for environment and climate change and is setting up a new dedicated climate change select committee. Work is already underway on a £45 million connectivity strategy in the city centre to improve how people travel on a more environmentally sustainable basis, with an emphasis on upgrading the public realm for pedestrians and cyclists. In addition, the council is also looking at how public
12
transport and active travel can be prioritised, so that one is not at the expense of the other. The council is also a major partner in the £4m URBAN GreenUP project, which includes a new phase of tree planting in the city centre. It is also investing in cycling and has already installed 100 bike stations, with Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson recently committing the council to match a £2m fund to create new cycle routes. The council is undergoing a process of converting its own cleansing and refuse collection fleet away from diesel to alternative fuels, including electric and electric-hybrid. A total of 20 compressed natural gas vehicles (CNG) are due to be introduced by Liverpool Street Services Ltd (LSSL) later this year. In addition, the city’s taxis are being
encouraged to go electric or low emissions. Cabinet member for environment and climate change, Cllr Laura Robertson-Collins, said: “Our population is growing and that means higher levels of traffic which causes around 70 percent of air pollution across the city as a whole, with the worst air quality next to congested roads. “The quality of air we breathe affects our health and wellbeing and we are all affected by it, particularly children and the elderly, and long-term exposure can contribute to heart disease, stroke and respiratory diseases like asthma.”
“We want Liverpool to have cleaner air so people live longer and a better quality of life.”

UNITY LAUNCHES A SEASON OF FAMILY SHOWS
U
nity Theatre has launched its winter season of Family Shows. A season of participation, engagement and fun to appeal to younger audiences. Unity Theatre has built its reputation on a cutting-edge programme, engaging with its audiences and appealing to younger audiences at affordable prices. Gordon Millar, Artistic Director, said “Our family shows are an affordable array of participation, engagement and fun. From leading production companies and artists alike, we have commissioned a cost-effective programme of shows to suit children from the age of 3-16.” He went on to say “It’s important to Unity that we embrace the love of theatre from a young age, we want to engage with the young people and ensure the best experiences for them. Our artists pride themselves on their ability to draw out the very best from children to ensure they are immersed in the programme, the event and the show.”
16
The first show, Suffrajitsu is an inspired story based
on true events using a mix of music, puppetry and some graphic novel ‘Ka-Pows’ - who doesn’t love a ‘Ka-Pow’?! The Stitch Brothers’ ‘Patchwork Wonders’ production, is a genre busting mix of beatboxing, live drawing, animation, jazz, hip hop… you name it…all created by a trio of world class artists. These two shows coupled with Baba Yaga, a story to challenge the faint hearted, with a loud music playing, jelly-baby eating mysterious neighbour……. aim to engage and inspire our children. A perfect show for halfterm is ‘Mini’ a show to combine theatre and interactive play, it is a bold, unforgettable theatrical experience for young children and their families to join another world; a light-filled, colour-soaked landscape where two dancers meet and play. The children take to the stage, bursts of shapes and sound
come to life real-time as they play and explore. Unity’s 2019 family shows culminate in our Christmas production, Beasty Baby. The story of a gorgeously grizzly Beasty Baby who lives deep in the forest, in a wintry land. Mayhem and laughter await around every corner as three people embark on a wild adventure to bring up this mischievous and totally loveable child. Using an inspired mix of puppetry and live music, Theatre-Rites creates a funny and magical shared experience for the whole family, to warm up those cold winter days. Unity is keen to set the scene and provide an opportunity for children to experience theatre in a unique, intimate and engaging setting. We are living in such politicised, febrile times that any show these days, if you touch on political matters is a really crazy experience. I think people on the Left feel they are often badly misrepresented in the media particularly, at the moment, so anybody who is unapologetic about being on the Left is very welcome. Also I always love returning to Southport. I was a student there for two years doing a foundation course at the art school so there are a lot of memories for me there, about 55 percent of which are good. Do you think people’s taste in comedy has changed over the last decade? The last decade I don’t really know. But since I started in comedy 40 years ago it has become
a huge business. For a while this bothered me but now I don’t mind. I know I can never compete with those arena guys but on the other hand their acts are bland and dull and stupid whereas my act is full of passion and complex ideas so I will be remembered long after bloody Jack Whitehall has been forgotten! (Seems like it does still bother me). What do you love about stand up? When I do stand up I am so “in the moment” that I don’t really remember much about what I do up there, I think of it as a form of demonic possession. (At least that’s been my defence during the inevitable court cases and my multiple expulsions from the Labour, Liberal, Green and Women’s Equality Parties). When you come back here is there a favourite place in Liverpool you like to visit? I know I should choose somewhere gritty
but really Hope Street Hotel and the surrounding area of Liverpool 8 is my favourite spot. The interior of the hotel and the restaurant is really distinctive, the staff are very nice, Liverpool FC have their breakfast there before home games and there’s usually a free bar of chocolate in your room when you check in. Also its a beacon of how political a city Liverpool remains that there’s still a radical bookshop-“News From Nowhere” on Bold Street. When they moved into their larger premises the official opening ceremony was performed jointly by me and my mother Molly. So I always call in to see Mandy who runs the place and to stock up on the latest thinking about South American Marxism. Can you give us an small insight to what people can expect from you? Well the main responsibility of a comedian is to be funny. I know that seems obvious but it often gets forgottten so I hope I will make people laugh first and foremost. After that I hope they will be impressed by the energy and anger of a man of 67 and they will resolve to stay fit and healthy themselves and to get really furious about things both important and trivial. 21
Since I am on Merseyside I will probably do some stuff about the area that I don’t usually do, I think its always nice to do some local stuff if you can and people like it. What would you say to Boris Johnson if you had 5 minutes with him? Funnily enough when he was editor of the Spectator Boris Johnson’s office was in my street and I would sometimes stop and chat to him, he always seemed charming but then the charming ones are often the most dangerous, given his track record he was probably trying either to seduce me or to steal my bike. Ahead of his appearance at The Southport Comedy Festival, Jimeoin spoke exclusively to Lifestyle magazine in an interview with Amanda Moss.
I
rish stand up comic Jimeoin is a huge success around the world. At the age of 22 he moved to Melbourne Australia but appears wherever he is booked. At 53 he shows no signs of slowing down as he prepares for his latest gig. “I love coming to Liverpool,“ he says, “With it’s huge Irish population
I feel right at home, but scousers are a special audience, they keep me on my toes with their sense of humour. I like it.” At the time of going to print he was in Edinburgh for the Festival with his sister and niece and was enjoying the sunshine, “Though I’ve just done two shows back to back and I’m knackered.” he said.
He’s a genuinely nice guy, he doesn’t mind telling jokes unlike some artists who like to save them for paying punters. “I think it’s ok if people find out I am a comic and want me to say something funny. they’re showing an interest in me which of course I am happy to be nice back to them. It’s no different to someone in a different profession being asked what they’re working on, such as a journal, what story are they writing. I’m not precious like that. It’s human nature to want to interact with each other.” He loves to engage with his fans, saying that one even shouted out a better punchline for his story than he did at a Kendal gig and she turned up at another and recognised it. He thanked he for writing his material and helping him out! Staying rather low key Jimeoin has no major requests backstage on whistle on the road he like travelling alone and only requests a bottle of water. “And you know I always want to take the water with me, even if I don’t have it.” See Jimeoin at the Southport Comedy festival, check website for tickets and prices.

s he embarks on his 24th consecutive year of touring, Jason Byrne underlines the importance of comedy. “People buy my tickets because they say I’m a guaranteed laugh, and people need laughter in their lives. “That’s why I can’t go on and selfishly talk about my own misery. People don’t want to go to comedy to hear about your unhappiness – ‘I’ve had a terrible day, and now you’re telling me about your terrible year!’” He continues that, “After a show, people often say to me, ‘I needed that so much. I got bad news last week, and that really cheered me up’. The key is that I just go on and take the mickey out of myself – and people seem to really like that.” The comedian, who has starred in Live at the Apollo (BBC1), The Royal Variety Show (ITV1), Don’t Say It, Bring It (Dave), and Wild Things (Sky), thrives on the sheer unpredictability of his stand-up. According to Jason, “My energy is based on the

audience. I feed off them. I include them in everything I talk about, and that’s how I make the show different every night.” “There is no editing and no preplanning. That gives me such a thrill. I’m 47 now, and as you get older, they say that the way to stop Alzheimer’s is to keep your brain stimulated. As long as I keep gigging, I’ll definitely keep my brain stimulated!” The comedian is certainly absolutely brilliant at encouraging audience participation. Jason, who is also a judge on Ireland’s Got Talent (TV3), gives us an example that always goes particularly well.
“I love audience participation because unpredictable things always happen. The great thing is that audiences are not trained and not used to being on stage.” Jason, who will go on stage for “Wrecked But Ready” wearing a typically ridiculous outfit of a dinner jacket on the top and underpants on the bottom, is also an inspired improviser. There is no one better at going offscript and creating superb comedy plucked out of thin air. Tickets for Jason Byrne’s new show, “Wrecked But Ready,” are available from

O
ver 100,000 people have now joined the RedWigWam revolution. The Liverpool-based company, dubbed ‘the Tinder of flexible working’, matches temporary workers online with short-term, part-time or ad-hoc roles across the UK. RedWigWam, which is based in the city’s Baltic Creative, appeals to the country’s 2.5 million people who want to work in temporary jobs because it suits their lifestyle. This includes students, returning mums and dads, the recently retired, people on benefits and those who have been made redundant. Entrepreneur Lorna Davidson, founder and CEO of RedWigWam, which is disrupting the recruitment sector, said: “RedWigWam helps people from a range of
backgrounds and with different requirements who want to be able to work flexibly and get paid promptly for the jobs that they carry out.” “We tap into the huge potential workforce looking to get access to temporary jobs and our clever software sends them jobs on our system that suits them.” Back to black Among those who have registered with RedWigWam is Francesca Henry, 29, who turned to RedWigWam to help her get back into the black. She signed up to RedWigWam when she was looking for flexible temporary part-time work to fit around looking after her young daughter. Now debt free, she says: “I look for little part-time jobs or market research
work where you have to go in to a shop and take photographs of product displays and report back. I’ve filtered my profile on RedWigWam so I get sent regular alerts for the jobs relevant to me which saves time going through a bunch of sites. I think that the more income streams you have the better.” “The system is easy to use, the work is interesting and, best of all, it fits around me and my lifestyle. They also pay the minimum wage, so the hourly rate is £8.21, and within 24 hours of completing a job.”

Respondents said that people being drunk in the street makes them feel least safe when they’re out. A greater police presence and less drunken behaviour in public places were felt to be the two factors that would improve safety. National media and social media were found to have little effect on people’s perception to city-centre crime. Personal experience and word-of-mouth information from others had the greatest effect.

t won’t be too long before I’ll be able to mention the “C” word (obviously Christmas) as this year is running away with me!!! I can barely keep up with myself let alone the time flying by! Having a little panto fix with the wonderful Lee Kelly at Otterspool over the Bank Holiday weekend when we performed 4 shows of the Wizard of Oz – never miss an excuse to work with Lee and the talented casts he puts together, and of course cover myself in glitter and wear a big fairy dress as Glinda the Good Witch! I do love being able to work with so many different charities with the job that I do, and had the pleasure of hosting a dinner at Royal Birkdale Golf Club for The Princes Trust, raising over £40,000 to help youngsters across the North West rebuild their lives. I also worked for the first time with a fabulous charity Stick n Step hosting a ladies lunch at The Hillbark Hotel, helping children and their families with cerebral

palsy – and I shall be looking forward to working with them again in the future. It was the first summer holidays that I realised my kids are growing up and gone are the days of visiting farms and going to playbarn’s, just “Muuuummmmm please can I have some money to go the cinema with my mates”. It’s tricky trying to find things that they still love to do – so a trip to Madame Tussauds and the Blackpool Dungeon followed by fish and chips was the perfect family afternoon and allowed both Michael and Melodie to forget about snapchat and being cool for a few hours! It has also been the month when sadly one of my best friends Scott Hughes has left Radio City. The radio industry has changed so much over the last 12 months, and so many local shows being networked and sadly, Scott was one of the casualties of one of these decisions. I have worked in Radio for 21 years, and I can honestly
say the time I spent doing the Home Run with Scott on Radio City was the happiest time of my career. Scott is a genuine, kind, funny and talented presenter who made me laugh (and still does) until I cry most days from the moment we were put in a studio together. Scott – I wish you all the very best – this city loves you – you’re one of us – and don’t think by leaving Radio City that I still won’t hound you with messages on a daily basis!

Doing things simple but well.”
Ray continued “When we took over the site earlier in the year the aim was to create a real neighbourhood restaurant. One that you can call into for a good healthy breakfast, lunch or book dinner for an evening with friends.” The venue has been a huge hit across breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday roasts too, but the most popular dishes have been the 109-superfood bowl. Customers choose 2 greens, 2 colours, 2 seeds, nuts or berries, 1 carb, 1 protein, 1 cheese and finally 1 dressing. Ray added “I have a background in sports and fitness food also and know how people are a lot more aware of what they eat now. I couldn’t have imagined just how popular this would be though. M A K E LIFE EA S IER F O R YO U R SE L F We’re busy being so busy now we haven’t got time to actually do anything we want. And we buy the latest smartphone with all the gadgets to help us manage our lives and we end up getting even more stressed out over it. It’s a bit of a life conundrum ... all this great technology that’s makes everything simpler simultaneously makes things more complex. If it was just the tech stuff that made things complicated I could probably cope ... but we also have to add politics into the mix. As if everything wasn’t already complicated
enough we have the neverending argument about Brexit ... and Hard Brexit, whatever that turns out to be. It has created a more complex landscape for us all. And I can’t help thinking that when we do eventually get Brexit it may just turn out that we’re all no happier than we were before.
Instead of always responding to things in the morning and get all flustered this will make it easier for you ... a simple list of what you have to do the following day gives you a feeling of control and allows the subconscious to work on things while you sleep.
Set simple, manageable goals for yourself. Start with some really easy ones like not taking your phone to bed with you or switching it off when you have your evening meal.
If you set up and stick to a routine that tends to make life less complicated. We are creatures of habit (good and bad) so maintaining good habits also helps us feel that we have some control over our lives.

EMMAPRIVILEGE THE SEASON OF TRANSFORMATION.
T
here’s something so incredibly delicious about a whole new season. The possibilities of so much just lingering there for us to take. It’s like having 4 fresh starts a year. Autumn is the month when the leaves are released from the trees, when animals begin to prepare for the winter and when everything is changing in colour. Everything we can see around us is changing everything is crisper, colder, fresher. Autumn is the month for transformation. One of my most favourite words ever. Transformation is possible to every living thing in this entire universe, and it’s right there for the taking. Its transformation time for environments but also for personal, should you choose. Autumn reminds us that everything is changing, nothing stays the same. So if you have thinking about radical transformation, then now is your time. Autumn is a great time for remembering that it’s ok to let go, like leaves falling from the trees. We can
release things that have been a burden to us.
Email: Themindsetmovement@hotmail.com
www.themindsetmovement.co.uk
We don’t have to hold on to something forever, and that even if we do let go of it, it just means that we are shedding for a brand new season, and a brand new version of us. What have you been holding on to? What do you need to shed? What will make you lighter if you just let it fly away in the wind? Autumn is a beautiful reminder that everything moves and changes whether we are ready for such things or not. It reminds us that we cannot control the outer world, that will change, we cannot control that, but the inner world is all ours. Everything bends and moves and sways and we can too. What comes to mind when you think about transformation in your personal life? What words?
By writing those words out, you then make them possible. How can you make them happen? How do you want to move into winter? That will show you exactly what you need to spend this new season doing, being and thinking. Remember that the new season is here, transformation is happening, the time is now and the possibility of change is all yours. All you have to do is take it.

The Darkness have released their new single ‘Rock And Roll Deserves To Die’, accompanied by a brilliantly entertaining video. It’s the first taste of their new album Easter Is Cancelled, out on October 4ththrough Cooking Vinyl.
A
s bass player Frankie Poullain says, “Rock and roll is so uniform now. Everybody dresses the same, looks the same, sounds the same. It’s pathetic. It deserves to die. Let’s kill the cliché. Let’s break the crucifix. That’s partly what the album is about.” In fact, ‘Rock And Roll Deserves To Die’ marks

a sensational new era, opening Easter Is Cancelled, the first ever concept albumfrom The Darkness. The ten-track album examines the role of the musician in the barbarous culture of the world today, and their almost divine responsibility to challenge the establishmt – something that most
rock’n’roll artists seem to have given up on in favour of easy celebrity. And yet at the heart of this tale is love, loss and heartbreak, where redemption is ultimately found in the brotherhood of band friendship and the power of the guitar, as brought full circle in the glorious album closer ‘We Are The Guitar Men’. They will appear on December 13th at Manchester Academy and December 18th at Liverpool, O2 Academy.

Hello Lifestyle readers,
Fit a bird feeder
I hope you’re all having a great summer even if the weather has been a bit hit and miss!
Things you will need:
It’s been an exciting month for the Phillips family as our newest member Nelly made her TV debut! Me, Laura and Nelly all appeared on ITV’s Lorraine to discuss family life and how we are coping with parenthood.
• •
We were interviewed by Christine Lampard and Nelly was on her best behaviour. She’s a natural in front of the cameras and clearly follows in her father’s footsteps! This month also saw me attend one of my favourite events of the year, the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship. The annual golf event takes place at the stunning Nailcote Hall in Warwickshire and sees a lot of famous faces take part. I took part in the Celeb-Am on the Friday alongside the likes of David Moyes, Len Goodman and James and Oliver Phelps from Harry Potter. The event also raises plenty of money for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People and it really is great fun to be involved in.

Screw in hook Pencil Bird feeder Bird food
Wildlife adds a peaceful and tranquil ambiance to any garden and it is possible to attract various species with a few simple additions to your outdoor space. Our feathered friends often find it difficult to find a good source of food, especially during colder months, so a simple bird feeder is a great way to attract birds to your garden all year round. Once you have purchased your bird feeder, you will need to decide where to locate it. Fitting it to a wall as opposed to a tree or fence prevents predators from reaching the birds and also stops squirrels from stealing food. Hanging your feeder at a minimum of 6 feet above ground level will allow visiting birds to feed in peace. Using a pencil, mark the brickwork where you intend to hang your feeder and using a masonry drill bit, drill a 6mm hole into the brickwork. Next, insert a 6mm rawl plug and screw in your hook by hand until the thread is no longer visible. You are now ready to fill your bird feeder with food. Many birds prefer different feed, so it may be worth a little bit of experimentation to see which birds like what. All good garden centres or pet shops will stock nuts and seeds suitable for most species of bird.
Even if my performance out on the course left a lot to be desired!
To finish, simply hang your filled bird feeder on the screw hook you have fitted to your wall and watch as birds come to dine in your garden.
I continued my work as ambassador for Wagner this month appearing on both ITV and Ideal World to showcase their great range of products. Work continues on the Dream Build and I’ll hopefully have more developments for you very soon. For now, I’ve included a DIY tip on how to fit a bird feeder that will hopefully encourage some feathered friends into your garden. All the best,
50

MOTOR
Amanda Moss test drove Honda’s new CR-V... S
ince the introduction of the first generation model of Honda CR-V in 1995, it has gone on to become the world’s best selling SUV. The latest evolution of the model has been built to exceed all expectations of customers, with enhanced and unique characteristics that don’t disappoint.
It’s extremely sophisticated. The exterior has broader wheel arches over the 17inch alloys and tyres and sharper contours. Inside it raises the bar with quality and space and engineers have paid particular attention to improving ride quality. It felt like we were gliding along the roads, pot holes became insignificant and it was as smooth as velvet. I honestly came off the motorway
a junction later so that I could extend the pleasure of driving it. The extras inside which I loved were three accessory sockets to charge phones and laptops along with space to store wires. Ambient lighting in the roof, one touch power windows and the 7” such screen for audio, sat nav and climate control and of course parking. I loved driving the CR-V, I genuinely didn’t want to give it back. I have test driven many cars and couldn’t fault this whatever. Far superior to the Landrover Discovery and similar models in terms of style and efficiency, if my last unreliable Landrover was anything to go by. It’s a first class drive with Honda CR-V, there was plenty of room in the back for a car seat and 2 teenager to sit in comfort. A perfect ride for all the family…. now if Honda can just learn how to have separate speaker and bluetooth docking stations for each seat, then the teenagers wouldn’t have any complaints. 51
