Christmas at The Amarillo Little Theatre Spend Christmas with ALT,Where There’s A Show For Everyone! The ALT Academy Presents: “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” by Barbara Robinson. The Herdmans are the worst kids in the history of the world. They lie, steal and smoke cigars (even the girls). When they take over the church play, everyone wonders if this will be the best Christmas pageant ever, or just the most memorable. C ome find out for yourself and enjoy the perfect holiday outing with the entire family. Friday & Saturday, December 5th & 6th at 7:30 PM . Saturday & Sunday, December 6th & 7th at 2:30 PM. $9.00 for ages 12 and up, $7.00 for under 12 years old. Tickets go on sale Monday, November 24th at 10:00 AM ALT Presents: “The Santaland Diaries” by David Sedaris (Adapted by Joe Montello). ALT is very proud to present the return of this hilarious and very off-beat Holiday production starring Jeff Jarnagin as Crumpet the Macy’s Elf. Lovingly billed as the “anti-Nutcracker” this show is chocked full of irreverant and sardonic humor. “The Santaland Diaries” is a brilliant evocation of what a slacker’s Christmas must feel like. Out of work, our slacker decides to bcome a Macy’s elf during the Holiday crunch. A t first the job is simply humiliating, but once thousands of visitors start pouring through Santa’s workshop, he becomes battle weary and bitter. The piece ends with with yet another Santa being ushered into the workshop, but this one is different from the lecherous or drunken ones with whom he has had to work. This Santa actually seems to care about and love the children who come to see him, startling our “hero” into an uncharacteristic moment of goodwill just before his employment runs out. This fun-filled evening will also feature another short performance piece and great Holiday music performed by some popular ALT performers. This special event is scheduled for three nights only and is Rated R for language. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, December 11, 12 & 13, 2008. At 8:00 PM. All tickets are $20.00 each, with a 10% discount for season ticket holders. Tickets go on sale to members on Monday, November 24th at 10:00 AM. Tickets go on sale to the public on Monday, December 1st at 10:00 AM.

“Pencil skirts are the perfect way to create sexy curves,” says Finola Hughes, style expert and host of How Do I Look? on the Style Network. “Pair a black pencil skirt with a colorful wide belt and sky-high heels.” Out: The ‘80s If you don’t want anyone to come up to you and say, “Hey, the ‘80s called, they want their [fill in the blank] back,” toss your neon fashion, crazy prints and micro-minis in the trash. The showing-too-much-skin look is out!
What’s In & Out: Fall Styles
Jene Luciani, a New York-based fashion and lifestyle journalist, is pleading for an ‘80s overhaul. “Last year, we saw a flash of neon on the runways that was evident of a re-emergence of punk. Thankfully, colors have richened,” she points out. Instead, you’ll see more expensive looking jewel tones this fall.
Fashionistas will testify that fall is their favorite style season of the year. You can layer, mix and match and make your style more dramatic. But, it’s not as easy as donning black and other dark colors.
“Get rid of crazy prints and opt for flower power,” Luciani adds. “Designers like Michael Kors showed florals for fall and winter, giving us spring fever— in a good way.”
Now that autumn leaves have arrived, you can set aside your sandals and pastels to make room for boots and berries (as in color types). Need more fall-wardrobe help? We consulted our favorite style experts to get to the bottom of what’s out, what’s in and how to wear it.
In: Ponte Knits Andrea Ward, a wardrobe consultant and stylist, saw ponte knits all over the market this upcoming season. “It’s a flexible, efficient and supple fabric that sculpts the body,” she explains. “It’s sophisticated with a retro-edge and a sleek, modern look. It offers substance with glamour.”
34th & Bell (Down from Stein Mart) • 806-353-8100
As for what’s out, Ward says to get rid of wrap dresses with large patterns and those tops with waistbands right under the bust line. “They were never flattering, and hopefully will disappear soon,” she adds. Out: Flat Ironing Celebrity hairstylist Jim Wayne says a major hair “don’t” is excessive flat ironing. “It’s extremely damaging to hair,” he says. “Lots of women are now curling their hair by using a flat iron as well, and that’s just asking for trouble.” If you’re looking to achieve a straight, sleek look, Wayne suggests taking the time to give yourself a blowout using a paddle brush with nylon bristles. “The effects will last longer than if you used a flat iron, and you will keep your hair healthier, as well.” Out: Bright Obnoxious Colors “I know sometimes they can be fun,” says well-known hair and makeup artist Robert Jones, “but for this season, we saw a lot of intense and saturated colors on the runway.”

www.amarilloscene.com Jones believes makeup can only compete with your new autumn wardrobe, so choose softer, more natural shades. “Let’s face it, natural colors always make every woman look her most beautiful and youthful,” he points out. “When choosing lip and cheek color, just remember, peaches, corals and warm pinks are your best friend!” In: Purples, Grays and Hematite “There are four key trends for fall: color, patterned-mixed metals, the prevailing circle shape and bohemian-inspired designs,” says Elena Kiam, senior vice president of fashion jewelry brand Lia Sophia. “This season it’s all about purples, grays and hematite finishes.” One of Lia Sophia’s pieces, for example, mixes mother of pearl with purple glass and resin beads that show off this nuanced elegance. “Textured and patterned metals in both silver and gold are also a must for the season,” Kiam adds. “Circles, discs and dome shapes in jewelry will also dominate this season and a bohemian feel will also prevail.” In: Big, Sexy Hair In terms of hot hair, it’s all about bounce, texture and a little height this season, says Jim Wayne, owner of the Jim Wayne Salon in Beverly Hills. “The great thing about this look is that it works best with dirty hair and is perfect for a day when you don’t have time to shampoo,” he says. “To achieve the style, simply spray some hair powder—I like Bumble & Bumble’s Hair Powder—into your roots with your head upside down,” he explains. “Then, tease afterwards to make the look last.”

Out: Lining Lips With the new dark reds for fall, Dee-Dee Marcelli, a two-time Emmynominated celebrity makeup artist, is begging women everywhere to refrain from over-lining lips. “Instead, try using your finger to stain the lip color,” she explains. “A little smudge can be sexy and makes the bolder color easier to wear.” “Seeing the line of an over-drawn lip looks silly and fake,” she adds. “It can really take away from the beauty of someone’s face.” Surprisingly In: Rock ‘n’ Roll Looking hip is easy if you accessorize appropriately, says Finola Hughes. “Try a more edgy style by adding simple and discrete nods to rock ‘n’ roll to your wardrobe in the form of metal accessories,” she suggests. “Layer tons of chunky necklaces, wear studded belts and tuck skinny jeans into motorcycle boots with buckle details.”
