#NewToAmathusAgency Similar to most things these days, your drinks collection needs to be bang on trend. Keep it alive and kicking with our new and exciting agency vermouths, whiskies, rums and wines. Back in the eighties, every household had a bottle of vermouth stashed away in the drinks cabinet. But vermouth quickly fell out of fashion and was only ever used as an ingredient in the odd cocktail or two. Now it’s officially made a comeback and is one of the most ‘on trend’ things you can drink. Introducing the newest vermouth on the block, from the producers of Skinos Mastiha Spirit, is Otto’s Athens Vermouth. Crafted using wine from the Attica area of Athens and infused with Greek herbs, rose petals and citrus fruits, for a truly authentic Greek flavour. Wolfburn Whiskies Kylver series takes its name from a Viking rune stone - the Kylver Stone - which depicts the 24 letters in the runic alphabet. Kylver No.1 was launched to great acclaim in summer 2016; now it’s time for Kylver No.2. This delightful single malt whisky is made from a marriage of a second-fill ex-Oloroso butt and a brace of first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. With a certain je ne sais quoi, are our new Burgundy wines from Domaine Chantel Lescure, a small French organic producer making some of the most outstanding wines and Northern R hône specialists, Ferraton Père et Fils. Also making its debut is our Côtes de Provence Rosé from Château de Chausse, and not forgetting our newest producers from Spain, Trashumante and Salt del Bou from Valencia.

BOUTIQUE RHÔNE & BURGUNDY PRODUCERS CRAFTING OUTSTANDING ORGANIC WINES FERRATON PÈRE ET FILS Rhône, France Since 1946, Ferraton Père & Fils has been settled in the heart of Tain l’Hermitage with strong roots in Crozes-Hermitage, Hermitage and Saint-Joseph, where production still continues today. In the late 90’s, Michel Chapoutier joint-ventured with the Ferraton family and brought his expertise with the introduction of biodynamic farming, plot selections approach, as well as the opening to new appellations. He has since then continuously invested for the renewal of this hidden gem of the Rhône valley, so that it remains a fully independent estate with its own vineyards, winery and team. Heading the estate for 10 years, is winemaker Damien Brisset, who has been crafting outstanding Rhône classics from Côtes du Rhône to Côte Rôtie, as well as a collection of single vineyards, expressing all the diversity of the Syrah in the Northern Rhône Valley. Vintage after vintage, the wines have been acclaimed by the international press for their constant increase in quality, reaching today the highest standards of the Rhône Valley.

CHÂTEAU DE MANISSY Rhône, France

In the heart of Provence, on the right side of the Rhône Valley, lies Château de Manissy. Dating as far back as the 17th century, Château de Manissy was once the property of the Lafarge family before they donated it to the local church. The Holy family's missionaries acquired the castle at the beginning of the 20th century and began growing their own vines to produce their first Cuvée of Tavel wine. They soon gained a famous reputation for their Tête de Cuvée, a barrel aged rosé.

Florian Andre, a young winemaker from Tavel, took over the vineyard in 2003 and continues the Holy family's winemaking tradition. In 2009, he began to convert the entire vineyards to an organic agriculture and began producing some exceptional organic wines, including Tavel, Lirac, Côtes du Rhône and Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

DOMAINE CHANTAL LESCURE Burgundy, France Established in 1975 by Chantal Lescure and her husband, Xavier Machard de Gramont, Domaine Chantal Lescure is a family owned estate, producing some of the finest and most authentic organic Burgundy wines. Currently owned by their children, Aymeric and Thibault Machard de Gramont, Domaine Chantal Lescure owns 18 hectares of vineyard, from Chambolle-Musigny on the Côte de Nuits to Volnay, on the Côte de Beaune. The approach in the vineyard is of utmost importance as regards to the quality of the grapes. All year long, great care is taken to ensure the grapes are perfectly healthy and ripe come harvest time. A true reflection of the domaine’s working motto… ‘Great wines require great vines’.

#MediterraneanFromAmathus One of our favourite words here at Amathus is ‘scarpetti’; an Italian word describing food that is so good, you have to wipe the plate clean with a piece of bread to get all of the remaining sauce. The Mediterranean drinks category, hot on everyone’s radar this summer, is just as deliciously tempting; satisfying thirst with light, delightful flavours. Here’s what’s top on our list: Think Greece and the chances are it will be their cuisine and climate that naturally springs to mind… but what about beer? It might not be top of your list, but Greece is producing some fantastic beers and we are lucky enough to have exclusive distribution for one of the most historical Greek beer brands, Fix Hellas. Sitting at the foot hills of the Alps is Piedmont, traditionally famed for its stunning wines, such as Barolo, Gavi and home to the legendary Contratto Vermouths range. Today, with the revival of classic spirits and a booming cocktail culture, Contratto has re-introduced these historic products that embrace tradition and modern demand. With true Spanish heritage is Rives Pink, a delicious concoction of Rives London Dry Gin and the maceration of the best strawberries from Huelva in southern Spain, and Espiga craft beers from Barcelona; the result of a passion and a calling of two people who wanted to create a unique, quality beer, filled with aromas of the Mediterranean, such as citrus, white melon and mango… and that they certainly have done!

#WinesToTheWorld As the world of wine continues to expand its territories, we can be found guilty from time to time of associating ‘Old World’ stalwarts like France, Italy and Spain with heritage and tradition, at the expense of excitement and innovation. Take Spain for example. Sure, Rioja is drenched in tradition but what about the neighbouring region of Navarra? Bodegas Ochoa has gained a reputation for being one of Navarra’s most celebrated producers. Moving to the north-west of Spain, the lush, green hills of Galicia are a far cry from many people’s expectations of what a Spanish wine region would look like. Yet, here, the bottling of fresh and vibrant wines from the Albariño grape have become super trendy and offer us all a much needed alternative to Sauvignon Blanc; a fine example of this is Bodegas Monte PÍo Albariño. Summer certainly calls for fizz and rosé and what a selection we’ve got. From Rigol Cava from Spain, Almorano Pinot Grigio Blush from Italy, to Tselepos Agiorgitiko Rosé; a not so traditional rosé from a new generation of winemakers… the Greek!
