VISITING ABROAD 遊學
International Exposure in Art Meeting people and seeing new things overseas is vital in our programmes. CAAS links up with the arts learning in schools, and with the professional art world by organizing annual immersion programmes. More than 60 students every year are sponsored and are inspired by these innovative programmes. In previous years, we have organized overseas visits to France, the United Kingdom and Canada; and also travelled to Mainland China and Taiwan. 接觸藝術的過程絕不是「大直路」: 少年時侯可能單純地喜歡梵谷,畫看多了便漸漸想去法國南部 ; 一次機 緣看了幾本有趣的Balzac法國文學,再而踏入電影導演高達、杜魯福的光影世界;繼而製作自己錄像短片,從 此與藝術結下不解之緣。好一幅縱橫鋪展的脈絡!藝術系美術部每年平均資助60多名學員參與海外遊學的沉浸 課程:包括參觀博物館、造訪藝術家、認識當地人民風俗與文化。眼界擴闊了,對學員的影響力亦指日可待。 近年已先後於法國巴黎、英國倫敦、中國北京及台灣等地進行有關沉浸課程及交流活動。

One significant feature of our programmes is the emphasis on active and regular involvement of participants in visual inquiry and sharing on artistic topics and issues in support of lecturers. Students conduct site visits, literature reviews on selected themes, present findings and sharing experiences with their peers have become a culture in the CAAS. The enhancement of critical thinking, analysis and language communication proficiency are emphasized in these activities to build up our students' academic profile. 藝術系課程的特色之一是著重學員以主動積極的態度定期參與有關本地視覺文化的專題探究及研習。透過教師 的援引,學員進行實地考察、文獻研究;並與同儕分享研習成果,從中培養批判思考、分析能力、溝通技巧。

Art Learning Centre 藝術資源中心 Conveniently located in the department building and with hours that extend into evenings and weekends, the CAAS's Art Learning Center effectively meets the specific needs of participants in searching for reference materials and inspiration for their work. The Art Learning Centre staff provides professional assistance to students. It is well equipped with facilities for the production of teaching materials and resources. Participants can enjoy watching documentaries, videos and films on arts topics, or have small group sharing with teaching staff on arts projects in the centre. The door of this user friendly place is always wide open for CAAS participants!

HKIEd Art Gallery 展覽廳 The Art Gallery is recognized as a focal point of art for the HKIEd staff, students and visitors. It is also a melting pot for a variety of east-meets-west artifacts. The gallery regularly caters for exhibitions by CAAS students, teaching staff of various expertise, visiting scholars, artists-inresidence, and renowned artist and designer organizations. The multi-disciplinary activities in this exhibition venue promote and facilitate a broad and quality exchange of current art knowledge between artists and viewers. The artistic encounter is also a catalyst for a lively exchange of ideas among artists, staff and students.

RESIDENCE LIFE 宿舍生活
The Student Hostel Located in the outskirts of Tai Po, our campus is embraced by nature and the picturesque Pat Sin Leng Country Park. HKIEd offers student hostel blocks with shared bedrooms and quarter-flats for students’ selection. The sports and amenities complex, located to the north of the Campus, houses a canteen and sports facilities, including an Olympic standard swimming pool, indoor training pool, a gymnasium, a practice gymnasium, squash courts and sports laboratories. Career Prospect Our graduates are creative but disciplined thinkers, fluent in written, oral and visual communication. Art major graduate destinations have included working as Visual Arts teachers for secondary or primary schools, curators for art museums and galleries, administrators for art organizations, critics and journalists for art pages in newspapers and magazines, researchers for cultural studies, and professional and practicing artists or designers. 本系畢業生既具創意又能作紀律性的思考,並具備流暢的書寫、講授及視覺溝通的能力。畢業 生可參與的工作包括:中學或小學視覺藝術科教師、畫廊或藝術館館長、藝術機構行政人員、 報章雜誌記者及藝評人、文化研究員和專業設計師及藝術家等。

The relationship between the CAAS’s academic staff and participants is built on friendship and professional mentorship. Tutorials with participants are conducted throughout the year on course assignments, graduation exhibitions, independent study, teaching practice, class and personal consultation system. During the final year of study, consultation sessions are organized for undergraduates to assist them to explore various career opportunities and further study programmes that meet their own individual interests and expectation. 藝術系美術部的師生關係密切。教師對學員無論在功課、畢業展覽、專題研習及課堂實習等均 予以悉心指導及協助,配合學員的個別差異,教師將協助學員了解畢業後的就業或進修取向。

THE HKIED ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS 香港教育學院育才獎學金
Our scholarships aim to attract the most able and talented young people who have strong aspirations to join the teaching profession, and to encourage and support outstanding new students to develop their academic and non-academic talent to their full potential. A minimum of 25 entrance scholarships, each of HK$100,000 will be awarded. In addition, the Peng Ximing Arts (Painting) Scholarship, Ho Chat Yuen Memorial Scholarship and four Excellence Awards are available exclusively for Visual Arts major participants. 「育才獎學金」專為有志投身教育的青年人而設, 藉此鼓勵表現卓越的新生並支持他們開發學術天分和拓展個 人藝術的潛能。教院每年將設最少25 個獎學金名額,獲獎者每人可獲十萬元港幣的獎學金。藝術系美術部尚 設有「彭襲明藝術(繪畫)紀念獎學金」、「何漆園紀念獎學金」及四項「學生卓越表現獎」供本科生申請。
