Why we travel
DREAM, BE CURIOUS & CREATE LASTING MEMORIES
TRAVEL TAKES OUR BREATH AWAY, pulls us outside ourselves, renews our hope, and inspires us to dream. Discovering a destination’s history and experiencing its culture through the arts, architecture, and cuisine satisfies the curiosity that lies deep within our hearts. By stepping away from our everyday routine and connecting with new places, people, and traditions, we return home refreshed and rejuvenated, with broadened horizons, an enriched perspective, and memories that we treasure for a lifetime.
Transformative moments
MEMORIES TO TREASURE FOR A LIFETIME
Seeing a dramatic mountain range, walking amidst towering redwood trees, stargazing in remote national parks – these are the transformative moments in which our dreams become reality. Mesmerized by the beauty of the world, we are infused with a new sense of wonder and our worries fall into proper place. Our tours are designed to create these transformative moments.
History comes to life
DESIGNED FOR THE CURIOUS TRAVELER
Discover the fascinating people, pivotal events, cultural movements, and natural forces that have shaped history. Uncover truths that transcend time and place, returning home with a greater understanding of other cultures, human nature, and ourselves. Our tours are designed to make history come to life.
Closer connections
WORK AND WAY OF LIFE
Discover the essence of your destination – the work and way of life of the people who call it home. Learn about local crafts, trades, agriculture, industry and take part in regional traditions. These personal encounters, authentic cultural experiences and unexpected moments are what make a tour unique.
The art of travel
We believe travel is a form of artistic expression. Like a classic painting, a great tour features all the elements to make it a masterpiece. With an uncompromising commitment to quality, our creative tour designers carefully hand-select each part of a tour to ensure an inspiring experience.
TAKE IT ALL IN
Our tours strike a pleasant balance between planned activities and free time for you to relax and take it all in. Experience iconic, must-see attractions as well as off-thebeaten-path “hidden gems” that are favorites among locals. Allowing time to take the road less traveled makes all the difference.
GUIDED BY THE BEST
We are proud of having the best tour directors in the industry. Caring and compassionate yet responsible and dependable, an American Classic Tour Director will go the extra mile to ensure a memorable tour experience. In addition, our premier local guides will provide articulate, in-depth tours of the places we visit along the way.
Savor
DESTINATION-FOCUSED DINING
There’s perhaps no better way to experience the essence of a destination than to enjoy its food, drink, and dining traditions. Cuisine is an ever-evolving expression of the history, agriculture, and the way of life of the people who call the destination you’re visiting home. Enjoy fine dining at handselected, local restaurants.
PREMIUM COMFORT
A hallmark of an American Classic Tour is premium hotels. Our selection of lodging will provide you with a comfortable “home away from home” to rest and rejuvenate while you are on the road. We prioritize staying at hotels located in the heart of the cities we’re visiting, enabling you to easily explore and feel the pulse of a community.

PARTNERING WITH AMA WATERWAYS
We are partnering with Ama Waterways because their brand most closely aligns with our brand— they are known for delivering the highest quality experience, an all-inclusive style, and a special family-like atmosphere. Their state-of-the-art ships are best-in-class among the river cruise lines.
LESS PASSENGERS ABOARD, MORE WAYS TO RELAX
Averaging less than 80 staterooms, Ama Waterways offers the luxury of personal space in larger staterooms. With fewer guests on board, Ama’s ships have space for luxurious amenities. Relax with a soothing massage after a day of exploring, stay in shape with a small group wellness activity, watch breathtaking castles glide by while enjoying a cocktail up on the Sun Deck.
A CRUISE FOR WINE ENTHUSIASTS AND FOODIES
Ama Waterways expert chefs craft menus that feature exquisite, locally-inspired cuisine as well as traditional, Western offerings. You will enjoy complimentary, unlimited wine, beer and soft drinks during lunch and dinner, as well as sparkling wine and fresh-squeezed juices during breakfast. Ama hand picks only the highest quality wines and pairs them with their cuisine. Their reds and whites are of the highest quality and come from local wineries and vineyards. It is a fantastic way to savor the flavor of each region you are visiting.
HIGHER ACTIVITY LEVEL
MORE VIEWS: TWIN BALCONIES ON ALL CRUISES
Sophisticated, contemporary, and elegantly appointed, your spacious stateroom serves as your personal oasis for rejuvenation. Most of the staterooms in Ama’s fleet feature not just one, but two private balconies — a French balcony and a full outside balcony. Together, they provide a unique panoramic view of the beautiful sights along the river while inviting both fresh air and natural light inside. With twin balconies, you can enjoy the river however you wish.
EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCE: MORE INCLUDED SHORE EXCURSIONS
On a river cruise, you don’t just pass through a destination — you experience it with all your senses. Each one of Ama’s sailings is crafted with a paramount goal in mind: connecting you to the essence of life in each place you visit. Ama always make it a point to place guests in small groups. This helps facilitate access to sights and landmarks, a more intimate setting, and more encounters with the locals. Ama is known for having multiple excursions to choose from at each port city.
International tours are significantly more active requiring considerably more walking, stairs, steep inclines and uneven terrain. All travelers must be in good, robust health to be able to participate in these tours. Handicapped facilities are not available on board Ama ships or in many places visited on the cruises and cruise tours Ama offers.
