The opportunity that has been given to the Italian Association of Cities of Ceramics (AiCC) from the Committee of the Regions - Europe, to pay tribute to the Semester of Italian Presidency of Union, is a choice that makes us proud same time, causes us to reflect. First of all, for the AiCC, I think that this is an acknowledgment for its long journey, pursued with determination, which had Europe as a point of reference to express the values of the ceramic craftsmanship and resulted in the constitution of EGTC as its first point of arrival. Thanks to their shared convictions, the Italian association teamed up with the French, the Spanish and the Romanian Associations, to create the first European Grouping of Territorial Co-operation - transnational in nature and in subject. 100 Municipalities in four Nations are now trying to work together as an operational tool for the EU to promote the artistic craftsmanship and support small artisan businesses. Secondly, it is an opportunity for us to highlight an important occurrence: the link between cultural roots and modernity, tradition and innovation, creativity and know-how, all expressed in original ways in so many different regions. Grand Tour allows us to observe this connection through ceramics, to propose it as a key for a future full of opportunities in a society that wants to change without losing its way. Finally, I think we can assume that this is in recognition of the contribution Italy made to European civilization in the Renaissance period. The history of ceramics shows how a heightened sensitivity to art and beauty permeated the Renaissance society, profoundly impacting cultural trends and economic factors; and it is good to think that even today this distinctive trait is recognized in ceramic art.

L'occasione che viene data all'Associazione Italiana delle Città della Ceramica, dal Comitato delle Regioni - Europa, per rendere omaggio al semestre italiano di residenza dell'Unione Europea, una scelta che ci rende orgogliosi e nel apre ad alcune riflessioni. Innanzitutto credo riconoscimento all'AiCC per un percorso lungo ma inseguito con determinazione, che ha guardato all'Europa come punto di riferimento per esprimere i valori dell'artigianato ceramico e che ha avuto nella costituzione del GECT il suo primo punto di arrivo. L'associazione italiana ha costruito con l'associazione francese, con quella spagnola e con quella romena, grazie alle medesime convinzioni, il primo Gruppo Europeo di Cooperazione Territoriale a carattere transnazionale e tematico: 100 Comuni di quattro Nazioni che oggi cercano di trovare lo spazio per essere uno strumento operativo per la UE a favore della promozione dell'artigianato artistico e per il sostegno alle imprese artigiane. In secondo luogo è per noi la possibilità di affermare un contenuto importante: il nesso che lega radici culturali e contemporaneità, tradizioni e innovazione, creatività e saper fare, il tutto espresso in modo originale in tanti territori diversi. Gran Tour ci consente di leggere questo nesso attraverso la ceramica, per proporlo come chiave per un futuro di opportunità in una società che vuole cambiare ma che non vuole smarrirsi. Infine credo si possa ritenere che sia il riconoscimento all'Italia per il contributo che attraverso il Rinascimento ha dato alla civiltà dell'Europa. La storia ceramica dimostra come la diffusione delle sensibilità verso l'arte e la bellezza avesse pervaso la società rinascimentale, incidendo profondamente sugli orientamenti culturali ed economici; ed è bello pensare che ancora oggi, alla ceramica artistica le sia riconosciuta questo tratto sintetico e distintivo. L'occasion qui est offerte à l'Association Italienne Villes de la Céramique par le Comité des Régions – Europe, pour rendre hommage au semestre italien de résidence de l'Union Européenne est un choix qui nous rend orgueilleux et qui nous ouvre en même temps certaines pistes de réflexion.Tout d'abord, je pense qu'il s'agit d'une reconnaissance envers l'AiCC pour un long parcours qui a été suivi avec détermination, qui a vu l'Europe comme un point de référence permettant d'exprimer les valeurs de l'artisanat céramique et qui a atteint son premier objectif avec la création du GECT. L'association italienne ainsi que l'association française, celle espagnole et celle roumaine ont construit, grâce à leurs valeurs communes, le premier Groupe Européen de Coopération Territoriale à caractère transnationale et thématique: 100 communes provenant de quatre nations différentes qui tentent d'être aujourd'hui un instrument opérationnel de l'UE en faveur de la promotion de l'artisanat artistique et pour le soutien aux entreprises artisanales. C'est ensuite pour nous la possibilité d'affirmer un contenu important: le lien entre les racines culturelles et le contemporain, entre les traditions et l'innovation, entre la créativité et le savoir-faire, le tout exprimé de manière originale dans de nombreux territoires différents. Le Grand Tour nous permet d'appréhender ce lien à travers la céramique pour le proposer comme élément clé pour un avenir fait d'opportunité dans une société qui entend changer sans pour autant s'égarer. Enfin, je pense que nous pouvons le voir comme une reconnaissance envers l'Italie pour la contribution apportée à la civilisation Européenne grâce à la Renaissance italienne. L'histoire de la céramique montre comment la diffusion de la sensibilité à l'art et à la beauté avait envahi la société de la Renaissance italienne, avec pour conséquence un impact profond sur les orientations culturelles et économiques; il est, de plus, très gratifiant de penser qu'aujourd'hui encore cette caractéristique synthétique et distinctive est reconnue à la céramique artistique.
