The Enormous Wave I saw the enormous wave forming on the horizon. As it got closer it revealed its true size. It was running toward me. I got ready to ride it. Three, two, one. It carried me as if I was a feather in the wind. I must have be going fifty kilometres per hour. I was a cheetah. It started to form a tube. I went down to ride but btchhh I got wiped out. Monster Wave He’s coming for me! I stared at the monster wave. I was frightened like a zebra being chased by an angry lion. I tried to escape but the current forced me back in. It held my legs with its crocodile jaw. The wave raced towards me like an angry bull. The wave pushed me, sending me to the ground. I sat up breathing heavily, I stood up and ran like a race car. I ran out of the beach into the car. By Alisha

The Ocean Awakes It’s coming for me. As the clear water of the ocean starts to awaken, it flew up like a helicopter that is out of control. A salty and bitter smell hit my nose rebelliously. Then suddenly the monster of the sea came forward it started screaming like a little girl. The monster was the wind pulling me in. Nothing could stop it now. In about an hour or so the creature died down into a small, calming wave. By Ashleigh

Demon Wave The wave was so long it crushed me like an Elephant. It dragged me across the shelly sand. I was a solid iron block. It comes back and hits me one more time and it felt like a sword in my skull. I get back up and I hit the wave with the strength of Hulk. The wave screams at me like a baby. It shatters like glass onto my face cutting it into many pieces. Next thing I know I’m in heaven.

Waves are chasing me I was scared. The waves chased me when I was in the water. I had to run out and it was a roaring lion. I cried. I got out of the water and it was a giant dead fish lying on the beach. I told the lifeguard that there was a dead fish. The lifeguard and Cole thought it was a sea monster with eight eyes. Some people are scared of sea shark. Cole and I started to run. Cole was thinking he is a very good lifeguard. There were no more waves for the day. By Connie

The Terrifying Wave I hear the wave howling like a wolf at midnight. I feel so calm until the wave turns into a humongous giant. I’m the poor surfer. OH NO!!! The ocean is beating me up like a strong warrior. The sea is an endless desert but I will fight to the end. By Dasha

Wave Rider I sat on my board floating in the calm blue water waiting for the judges to call my name. When a monster wave rose out of the water like Godzilla. I was about to get hit when I heard my name in the distance so I turned around and started to paddle. I felt the back of my board start to rise so I stood up and started to surf. I was going so fast everything around me looked like a blur. I suddenly fell of my board and blacked out. I woke up on top of my arcade machine. Turns out it was just a dream.

The Salty Surprise I was enjoying a relaxing day at the beach. I decided to go for a refreshing swim in the ocean. Suddenly the massive wave hit my cold and defenceless body. I felt as petrified as a little girl in the dark. It was as big as a two story building. It happened. The thing I knew would happen. The wave hit me with all of its power. It felt like a bullet to the leg. I cried in pain as salt spray went all over me. I thought to myself. ‘I am never ever swimming at this beach again.’ By David Stothers

The Haunted Wave As I look out to sea, I can hear the wave growling as if it thought it were a lion. I was frozen in fear, petrified as the wave towered above me like my childhood monster. The wave had already won. I dived under just in time as he crashed upon the shore. I had one last chance. I stood up, preparing for his second attempt. It took him a few minutes. All of a sudden he flung himself at me. I lost. By Emily

Facing the Wave The moon was shining like a silver lantern in a dark cave. Moonlight glinted on the water, giving it a mirror-like appearance. A gentle breeze danced carelessly in the air and a small wave was being carved out in the ocean, far away. The wave rolled slowly on its aquatic wheels, and gently rose and rose, like a skyscraper reaching up to the sky. I watched from a nearby cliff, like an eagle ready to fly. Wispy froth decorated the body of water, like the milo I had last Saturday morning. The wave silently glided on the sea, elegantly reflecting the moon, portraying the night sky. By Emi Lipoth

The Wave I am in a wave. I am as scared as a frozen frog. I wish I could run but I can’t. I’m on a board. If I run I would fall off. I was shaking. I was starting to lose control. I fell off. As I was drowning I found the surfboard. I got on it and started surfing again. I can hear the sea wave and I can see seagulls flying. Suddenly the wave sucked me back in. By Film

Wave I can hear the people screaming as they fly across the enormous wave. The wave growls at me like a teacher growling. The wave was like a massive hand holding lots and lots of people. The ocean water was like a sharp icicle on my heart. People trembled over the massive hand. By Ga-Yeon
5th June 2015 WALT Write an unassisted recount
Out the Back I paddle out in the warm water duck diving beneath the huge waves. It feels like I’m being pushed to the bottom of the ocean before floating to the top. I turn to face the beach. The wave roars up behind me. When you ride the wave it’s like going down a big hole. I drift along the face of the wave. I do a push up and stand on my board. It feels like your standing on moving carpet. My wave joins another wave by crashing into it. I try to hold on as long as I can. I do some tricks like three-sixties and hand stands. The wave runs out of power and I jump off into the warm sea. I turn around and paddle back out into the waves. By Joe Allen
15th June 2015 WALT: Write a description of a wave
The Wave As I walked alongside the ocean shore a huge wave formed. It smelled bitter like sea salt. The wind hit me like an electric fan blowing on my face. It felt calming as I walked along the beach with the waves crashing into the rock hard cliff. The wave roared when it hit the cliff. The drops of the remaining water hit the beach until there was no water at all. By Ki-Yong

The Shape Shifter The wave reared up like a frightened horse. It began to growl as if it was a panther, ready to pounce. It twisted and turned like a python strangling its prey. Then it started to roar like a crazed tiger, hungry for food. As it came closer it reached out cold blue fingers to grab me, as if a giant child was finger painting and was reaching out to squash an ant. As the frightened, pouncing, writhing, crazed, finger painting, monster pulled me under and spat me out. I felt as if I had seen the many faces of the devil himself. By Lauren Gibson

The Wave The wave towered over me as if I was an ant and it was Mount Everest. I just knew I couldn't surf this one. The sun was shining as I approached the majestically dynamic wave. I knew this was a bad sign. It was petrifying and incredible. I could just smell the danger coming at me. By Nathan Turley

The Wave I’m at the sandy beach with the sun’s beams crawling around my face. Suddenly a wave kisses my face and smacks me down like a brick falling from a helicopter. I get back up and before you know it the wave is back. It’s an iron wall racing towards me. It hit’s me. “Ouch!” All I can see is a hospital.

Demon Wave Boom. “AHHHH! What was that?” I said. “It’s just a wave scaredy cat” replied my sister. “Say that one more time” I said. My sister wasn’t easily intimidated. “Scaredy cat.” “Stop it you two” said dad. “We will set down here for the day.” “I’m not sure about that” I said. Dad turned round. He was gob smacked. “RUN” dad shouted. The wave was screaming towards us. BOOM! The ground shook them like a gorilla punching the ground because he wanted his banana back. “Well I’m glad that’s over and done with.” I said. “What are you saying?” Splash! All the water came out filled with crabs. Everyone screamed “Ah!” Who cares? I’m soaking. I wish I never came on this trip. “Come on guys. Let’s go home.” By Oliver.

Dangerous Demon The deep blue beast grabbed hold of me, eager for an ambrosial feast. Its hands reached out for me, never ending like the lengths of the universe. I ran and ran and ran, my legs slowly wearing out, as the swirling demon panted but didn’t give up. I couldn’t scream. My voice only trembled in fear. I had to continue. The beast returned into the azure marine, huffing and puffing. I froze. The ocean slid back and forward like a squeaking swing. I knew what I was about to see. A tsunami was going to destroy our alluring planet. By G.A.P (Great and Powerful) Phyllis

The Blue Giant It was a bright and shiny day, a perfect day to go to the beach‌ until the blue giant awoke from its long and restless sleep. The clouds covered the sun. It towered over me, five times my size. I tried to scramble out of the water but the rip was too strong. I was sucked out to sea like dust into a vacuum cleaner. I was knocked around whilst the briny water stung my eyes and turned everything into a blur. I am helpless. I am a chicken in a bear trap. The wave broke and fell on me like a pile of bricks. I swim to the surface but before I could get there another one smacks me down, then another, and then another. I am stuck underwater, waves slamming my face against the grating sand swallowing water faster and faster slowly drowning. I cannot breathe. Finally I get out with a second to spare as another one crashes down. I am panicking and my heart rate is very high. I am not going in again. By Sam. D (This is one of my experiences in real life)

The Wave I stood on my board scanning around me for a sight of a wave. Suddenly a colossal wave emerged from the sea. The cruel wave terrified me like an angry giant scaring me. Defenceless The monstrous wave loomed above me, like a demon out of my nightmares. The monster growled and roared fiercely, like a lion. I cowered in in fear, as the tip of the wave started to curl, getting ready to strike. I was completely defenceless, like a lost night without a sword. I dived under just as the tip of the wave came crashing down, like a window raining shattering glass. My head broke the surface, and I stared at the next wave that was about to pounce, and avenge his brother. By Skye
6 June Friday 2015 WALT: Write an unassisted description The Big Bad Wave The aquamarine flurry reared up as I struggled to scramble to safety. Golden grains of sand slipped through my fingers as I tried to climb up the rocky cliffs. The huge wave let out an explosion of sound, like an angry grizzly stumbling through a dark forest. Cold seaweed tangled itself in my hair and clung to my clothes. The beast reached out to grab me, as it slashed through the water like a lumberjack plunging his axe into a tree. The wave was as powerful as a sledgehammer, and it knocked me off the sandy ledge. “Nooooooo, I moaned as I tumbled down into the roaring tide. I heard a hungry gurgle as I plunged into the ocean like a brick, and that was when everything went black.

WAVE It was a sunny day. The sea roamed like a fast motorbike. It was terrifying. It was a massive wave just about to touch me. The sea rumbled like thunder. I was scared. The wave got bigger and bigger and blocked the sun. I couldn’t see the sun, it was too dark. It looks like a monster just about to eat me. YIKES! The waves were crashing into the towering cliffs. I paddled down the ocean. There were no waves at all. It was like the waves were asleep. Suddenly a wave awoken. It grew larger and larger. It was a colossal wave. I got ready to stand up. The wave growled at me. The wave chased me like an angry dog thinking I was its food. I knew this wasn’t going to be a clean ride. The cruel wave terrified me, but I was lucky enough to get to the shore without looking like a cat going in water which isn’t nice to watch.
