LOGO DESIGN
TEA PALACE Morocco and its beautiful architecture, shapes, and colours inspire the concept behind my tea packaging. The shape of my packaging is a rectangular box; and consists of a bottom section to hold the tea and a lid to enclose it. I wanted a simple shape that would stack well on shelves, look nice on your kitchen bench but also not detract from the shape of the logo and the patterns on the packaging. The lid will have a shape cut out of the top representing the arches of the buildings in Morocco; this will look through to the logo design. The shape and design of my logo represents the pattern in Moroccan architecture, which forms the main feature of my packaging. The overall tone of my packaging is exotic and colourful, inspired by my experiences in Morocco. When the viewer looks at my packaging, I want it to take them to another place. Through my choice of colours and patterns it should make them feel like there’re in the markets of Marrakech surrounded by vibrant colours, strong aromas and winding side streets. This will create an emotional attachment, evoking feelings of happiness and excitement. The Moroccan style is very delicate and beautiful and unique and reflects their kind nature towards one another. One example is that Tea is a major part of the Moroccan culture, and is considered the drink of hospitality, as it brings people together. I wanted to capture this experience in my style. These emotions will be displayed through the use of bright colours evoking happiness and the beautiful intricate designs represent how gentle, happy and kind hearted these people are. Arabic writing has inspired the typography on my tea packaging. Arabic is the language of Morocco, and as I have fallen in love with the country, I also fell in love with Arabic writing. It has a beautiful calligraphic design, which is wonderful and unique. I have chosen to use Arabic writing hidden in the patterns of my packaging to gently expose and create connections to the history and religion of Morocco. I also created my own Arabic inspired font for my logo design. By using Arabic writing it will tie the style and design of my packaging together, to convey the overall Moroccan theme. My brand quote displayed on my packaging will help encapsulate the overall tone and feelings of my design; “All about tea, bringing people together which will be written in an Arabic style typography as well.

The style and theme of my packaging is unique and I hope to bring a new audience into the tea market through my travel inspired Moroccan designs. Travel has recently become an easy accessible hobby for many people, and within that Morocco is only just beginning to be explored. With this people will take a second look at my packaging, as it will evoke the excitement and possibilities of travel and exploring. My aim is to make people pick up my packaging as they want to feel for its texture, design and smell its aromas. I then want them to want it in their home as a piece of Morocco art sitting in their kitchen on display for their friends and family to see. There is also a large percentage of Arabic’s in Australia, and this packaging would relate to them, as it would form a connection, making them choose this tea over the others on the market. The rugs, spices, buildings and paintings that I saw and photographed while travelling around Morocco inspired the colours I have chosen. My first flavor is Moroccan Mint tea; the colours I have chosen are green, brown and gold, which are inspired the tiles and architecture. The second flavour is called “Marrakech” with Cumin and lemon flavours and the colours are Rusty Oranges and reds, which come from the rugs, and the houses that are made from mud. The third flavour is called “The blue pearl” based on the blue city of Chefchaouen. This tea is made of blueberries and mint; the colours I have chosen for this flavour are tones of blue and yellow. I have used a combination of colours on each packaging to represent different aspects of Morocco and its culture, while still linking with the flavours. The material that I have chosen for my packaging is cardboard. I have chosen to use this product, as it is cheap and recyclable. This is because Morocco is a third world country, so by using cheap materials to create the packaging, it reflects their culture and how they can make something out of nothing. It is strong enough to hold the tea and last as a piece of art on your kitchen bench long after you have finished with the teas.
