Urban transport is a political rather than a technical issue. The technical aspects are relatively simple. The difficult decisions relate to who is going to benefit from the models adopted. To create or preserve a livable urban environment, the requirements of these functions have to be balanced against each other. Land use planning serves this process of balancing competing demands on limited urban space.
Improving the sustainability of living, as well as the sustainability of production processes, considered in their fixity, mitigate only partially the problem of resource consumption omitting the heart of the matter: resource consumption and pollution produced by unrolling of the urban daily cycles.
This is a design vision: break down the barrier that separates the different types of rail to maximize attractiveness and service performance.
