Permas Jaya Commercial Center is built and located in a commercial a r e a o f P e r m a s J a y a d u r i n g t h e t i m e o f 9 0 ’s w h i c h t h e t o w n h a s j u s t s t a r t e d t o d e v e l o p a n d e m e r g e a s a h o t s p o t i n J o h o r B a h r u . I t ’s a l s o w h e re t h e f i r m , J Y P A rc h it e c t s w h i c h I’m w or k i n g i s l o c at e d at . T h e intention of doing this is because the unit is to be sold to a new owne r a s t h e f i r m w i l l m o v e t o Ta m a n M o u n t A u s t i n f e w m o n t h s l a t e r.

Therefore, I was tasked to do the plans, elevations of the commercial building through measured drawing and to be further translated into a c c u r at e d r aw i n g s by u s i n g Aut o C A D. T h e re fore , I’m s e t t o m e a s u re , sketch and record down the measurement which is therefore translated into technical drawings in AutoCAD bas ed on the sketches and measurement recorded. A brochure of the early stage drawings of the office was given as reference, however it is not as accurate with the final product so this task requires me to remeasure and to finalize it a s d r a w i n g s . Ho w e v e r, f o r t h o s e u n r e a c h a b l e a r e a s u c h a s t h e t o p, I have to consider the general thickness and dimension of the slab and wall thickness to fit the drawing and also with the help of Google Earth, I was able to visualize some unreachable part therefore I can complete the drawings. The drawings includes 3 story floor plan and 2 elevations. 44 Meridin Site location: Nusajaya, Johor Specification: Commercial Centre Task: Inspect each unit ’s condition regarding fittings, finishes and construction progress.

Meridin at Medini, located at a strategic location, Nusajaya, Kota I s k a n d a r w h i c h i s J o h o r ’s n e w a d m i n i s t r a t i v e c e n t e . I t ’s a l s o l o c a t e d near to Legoland Malaysia and Medini Business and half hour from Senai Airport. standing tall on 8.19 acres of prime land, The core design prinicple was d e r i v e d f r o m t h e c h a r a c t e r o f h u m a n a s p i r a t i o n t o r e a c h h i g h e r. T h e design intention is evident in the design language and architecture of this building. On the first day to the site visit, me and my colleagues were told to go for site visit. Once we reach there, we get to meet another colleague w h e r e h e e x p l a i n e d d o a n d d o n t ’s i n t h e s i t e . S o , o u r t a s k o n t h i s s i t e v i s i t i s t o i n s p e c t e v e r y u n i t ’s c o n d i t i o n i n r e g a r d s t o f i n i s h e s , f i t t i n g s , c o n s t r u c t i o n p r o g r e s s a n d e t c . T h e r e w e r e 3 o f u s w h e r e t h e r e ’s 3 0 U n i t s to be checked, so each of us is assigned with 10 units. All the units are s i t t i n g b e t w e e n t h e 1 3 t h f l o o r u n t i 1 5 t h f l o o r. C h e c k l i s t a n d p l a n o f each unit is given in order to do comment on each unit so the workers can refer to the comment and make improvement or follow up with the construction status.

47 c onclus ion D u r i n g t h e 8 We e k s o f i n t e r n s h i p s e s s i o n , I w a s g i v e n a l o t o f o p p o r t u n i t y t o b e i nv o l v e d i n d i f f e r e n t k i n d o f p r o j e c t s . Ho w e v e r, a 8 w e e k i n t e r n s h i p s e s s i o n i s q u i t e s h o r t w h e r e I f e e l t h a t t h e r e ’s s t i l l m u c h t o b e e x p o s e d t o t h e a r c h i t e c t u r e i n d u s t r y. A p a r t i c u l a r t a s k m a y t a k e s a few days to finish, some takes a week. In the end, I still learnt a lot especially I was exposed to different scales of projects, from houses to commercial building. Design to details. From manual to computerized project. And also site visitation. I have acquired knowledge from all the task given, every single project and from my colleagues. I really appreciate everything from here. The working experiences have b e e n g r e a t . I t ’s d e f i n i t e l y a f r u i t f u l e x p e r i e n c e o f b e i n g a n i n t e r n i n JYP Architects. These experiences will definitely help me in my future career development. I would like to thank my employer and colleague for enriching my intern working experience.
