The Greatest Hits

Paperweight. Spatula. Cushioned tea tray. Chicken lattice.

Award Winning Edy Hurst brings his musical comedy, loop pedal nonsense and stand up to answer the age old question:

After last year’’s “storming show” (The Sunday Times), political comedian and “rising star of the British stand-up scene” (The List) Alex Kealy presents a show about the emotional roots of our rational thoughts. But funny, though.

He’s survived adoption, his moms dying, mental breakdowns, addiction, and getting diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Can anything kill Bobby Mair? An hour of dark, gut-wrenching stand-up from one of the best comedians in the country.

As seen on BBC Radio 4 & BBC Comedy Underground. Combining ‘Superb political comedy’ with surreal storytelling; in a few short years Raul has risen to the top of the Comedy World.

Which weapon would you protect your house with? In this work-in-progress stand-up comedy show, Ian Lane considers how the military techniques of the SAS can be applied to managing an orderly & domestically fulfilling family household. Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian Of The Year 2014 finalist & two-time BBC New Comedy Award semi-finalist.

THE GLOBE CEEOW

EVABEE

Born and raised in Brum – Manchester has been home to vocalist Ceeow since 2016, where he’s been honing his talents and building a presence as part of the collective A Broken Camarilla and adjacently as a solo artist.

A songwriter and recording artist who has been part of the bubbling Manchester underground scene for some time. Mostly with her collective A Broken Camarilla.

BLIND MIC

Born and bred in Manchester, Blind Mic is a rapper, producer and multi-instrumentalist.

Ceeow radiates a sound that is all his own, laced with hip-hop, soul and funk – an artist riding his own unique wave with a vocal delivery inimitable by anyone. Rapping, singing, reciting or simply speaking to his audience, Ceeow visibly adores every second of what he does – a vital element to both progression and fulfilment within the industry.

EVABEE is now working on her own sound and helping to revive that classic street soul vibe in a modern framework. With her subtle and emotionally charged singing style, the words are always allowed space to breath and the engaging lyrics and vocals float over hard hitting, uncompromisingly fresh and airy boom-bap beats. The combination delivering maximum impact.

Raised on the mic of underage raves from the age of 16, the northern musician has become a well-seasoned performer in his hometown and beyond over the years, as his projects including hip-hop collective Free Wize Men & Live band LYCHEE has taken him to festival stages such as Boomtown, Gottwood & Outlook as well as support slots for Pete Rock, Talib Kweli, and Pharoahe Monch to name a few.

THE ROSE & CROWN THE JON BOWIE BAND

COLOSSAL SQUID

ANNE-MARIE SANDERSON

CHRIS BUTLER

Adam Betts is a powerhouse of a man. He drums with Three Trapped Tigers & The James Taylor Quartet. This super-cannon is near impossible to stop, but he is afraid of ghosts, and rightly so.

Anne-Marie’s voice is evocative of birds in flight - soaring, gliding, swooping - & it finds its home among the tall trees of her deft guitar work. An artist who casts a careful eye & attentive ear to the natural world, alternating between wide-eyed wonder & wry observation. This is indie-folk music with a resolutely DIY approach. For fans of Nick Drake, Vashti Bunyan, Beth Orton & books.

A local singer/songwriter, his songs are often filled with uncertainty and anxieties that (usually) ascend into rays of hope and relief. A throaty baritone voice layered onto Neil Young-esque acoustic guitars that gives Chris his folky americana style a distinct edge.

KITS

BINGO HARRY

LEGOHAIR

PADDY ROGAN

Kits (stylised KITS). Kit - noun - a small fur-bearing animal. KITS is the one-person sad-techno project of Jayson Turner, a Computer Scientist from Walney Island. KITS combines vocals, synths, and various bleepy boxes to create simple and meaningful songs ranging from the ecstatically positive to the devastatingly bleak. Fundamentally it’s like LCD Soundsystem, but you can’t dance to it.

BINGO HARRY perform astro pop coloured with iridescent vibration, channeling their imagination into the outside world. Their lyrical content is often on matters of soulfulness, the seasons of life and the humans within it. They work with original, unusual grooves and melodic shapes and sounds that conjure astral flights over Borneo, or so they have been told.

Legohair are a weird alt-rock band who formed in 2002. Pixies/Weezer/ Pavement-esque, they now play the odd reunion gig every few years for the heck of it.

Contemporary Folk-Blues with a twist of various other musical forms. Paddy has performed alongside Seth Lakeman, The Strawbs, Nizlopi, Irish Folk super group Four Men and a Dog, Rory Mcleod and others; as well as performing at festivals including: Solfest, Kendal Calling, Beatherder, Knockengorroch, Green Gathering as well as with the Fleadh Cheoil in Cavan with Bill Lloyd and Paddy O’Reilly.

SAD EYED PUFFINS

REUBEN TIGHE

THE SPIRATONES

VALPARAISO

Blending a spectrum of genres to create his own style of songwriting, Reuben moves vivid lyricism through a versatile range of vocals against a backdrop of expressive fingerstyle guitar to create a unique and captivating sound. Reuben performs a mixture of originals and reworked versions of old blues and folk songs to make for an interesting and varied set. Pop along and listen up!

Instrumental surf rock - pulp grooves, rumblin’ guitars and wavecrashing vibes. The Spiratones bring maximum energy to every show, providing a slice of southern Californian sunshine wherever they play. Music to dance to with company or on your own, on a beach or in your bedroom. E.P. “Next Stop, The Moon!” available now

Valparaiso are a rhythmic 5 piece who blend elements of funk, afrobeat and psychedelia into their music to create unique and infectious grooves. The band have an ever evolving sound and will be debuting new material throughout the summer.

Originating from the Far Depths of Outer Space, Sad-Eyed Puffins have come to Earth to Sing Songs about Intergalactic Travel & the Futility of Human Endeavour. http://www.sadeyedpuffins.com/

BEERWOLF GREG LARKIN

COLOSSAL SQUID

Greg has been composing and playing live for the last seven or eight years and, piece by piece now has a reputation of being one of the most skilful and original guitarists on the scene at the moment. He is a classic finger picking guitarist, but his similarity with other exponents ends there.

Adam Betts is a powerhouse of a man. He drums with Three Trapped Tigers & The James Taylor Quartet.

His compositions are packed with complex melodies and counter melodies, idiosyncratic tunings and musical references from some of his most significant influences. The music is complex in places; introspective and challenging. In others, it is simple and mellifluous. The overall effect has created a quite unique sound that is very listenable and very memorable; a style that absorbs audiences and leaves them with the palpable feeling that they have just seen ’music’ being played. Greg has recorded three albums, “ “, (2011), “An Ecstatic Lightening of Strange Birds” (2014), and his most recent, “A Thousand Ghosts”(2017). The last two both being available on Itunes.

This super-cannon is near impossible to stop, but he is afraid of ghosts, and rightly so. Colossal Squid is a fitting title for Adam Betts’ solo offering. Brewing electronica, metal, industrial and braindance, its ringing snares, icy synths and curveball atonality recall the nominal reference to sci fi b-movies. Words do not do this man justice, it needs to be seen to be believed.
