Free clothes for babies and children of families in need B-thrifty introduces “Clothes for Kids” Program By Dale Keeton, Ph.D. From its first day on August 20, 2011, B-Thrifty has demonstrated its genuine interest in the welfare of the surrounding communities. From helping the Holly Acres flood victims, supporting several non-profit charitable organizations or providing pre-paid gift cards to partner churches, the leaders of the company continue to look for ways to enrich the lives of the less fortunate in the area. The newest initiative is our “Clothes for Kids” program. There are those all around us who survive as a result of various social aid programs. We want to reach out to these families and offer assistance, as well. Our particular interest is that the children have adequate clothing.
Starting on May 1st and every following Tuesday, families who qualify for public assistance may shop at BThrifty for children’s clothes at no cost. Each child (eight years old or younger) will be provided three complete outfits of their (or their parents’) choice during a six month period. When the child outgrows these clothes, they may be returned to B-Thrifty and replaced with other sets (or outfits). The exchanges will be while supplies last (up to 2000 pieces per week) and limited to twice each year (they do not have to be the very same clothes, but something comparable). Parents will be required to show photo ID and proof that they are participating in a social or government aid program.
This gesture of community involvement and concern is an outgrowth of B-Thrifty’s “recycling locally” emphasis. While we will continue to send needed items overseas, our first priority is to do what we can to support local needs and interests. Dr. Dale Keeton, Director of Church and Community Relations for B-Thrifty, recommends that “our members and neighbors can help us get the word out to those families who qualify for this program by suggesting that they come on Tuesdays and search among the hundreds of clothing items for their children.” For more information and details on other ways to qualify for the program, please visit our web site: www.b-thrifty.com
