Join us for a sunset paddle from the mouth of the Altmuhlsee to Ornbau (approx 1.5 hrs). After paddling stop for dinner at an imbiss along the river. Experience the magic! Arrive early Saturday morning and enjoy a full day at the park. In the midst of the wild, romantic Black Forest landscape, sits the lively little town of Triberg. Visit the Black Forest Museum, the Baroque pilgrimage church with the charming sexton’s lodge and the town hall with its magnificent wood carvings. The highest waterfall in Germany with its 7 cascades is located here along with a wide variety of shops to purchase Black Forest arts and crafts and world famous cuckoo clocks. The Paintball Field is located at Urlas directly across the street from the new Exchange. All equipment and paint is available on site. We can also accommodate the special events and parties for your group, prior reservation is required.

Inline Skating: $9 Every Wednesday • 6 June – 29 August
Inline skating every Wednesday in conjunction with our Sunset Paddling Club. The trail from Altmuhlsee to Ornbau is perfect for inline skating (approx 4k). We’ll meet for dinner at an imbiss along the river. Trip departs Katterbach ODR at 5:30 p.m., other pick-ups available upon request. Includes: Transportation and equipment.
Weekly Bicycle Rides: $5 if need to use ODR bike Every Thursday
Join us every Thursday after work for a bike ride that lasts approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Log your distance weekly at ODR and earn a cycling jersey after 500k in one season (while supplies last). Every kilometer counts so fill out your log even if you ride on your own. Ride departs Katterbach ODR at 5 p.m. Pre-registration is required no later than COB on Wednesday.

Tired of the same old P.T. drills in the morning with your unit? Let ODR add a little variety with our fleet of new Cannondale Full Suspension Mountain Bikes. With advance notice, we’ll open up the shop at o’dark hundred and issue bikes and helmets to Soldiers for an alternative morning work-out. Storck Barracks delivery is also available with advance notice.

With spring in the air, FMWR Outdoor Recreation and the League of American Bicyclists are promoting May as National Bike Month. Check out our mobile bike shop at Storck Barracks on 15 and 17 May. Help us reduce our carbon footprint by participating in this event. Tips for safer riding: • Have your bike checked • Always wear a helmet • Ride in the right-most lane that goes in the direction of your travel • Obey all stop signs, traffic lights and lane markings • Look before you change lanes or signal a turn: indicate your intention THEN act • Be visible and predictable at all times; wear bright clothing and signal turns
