Shriram Gateway is a mix design development project located in Southern part of metropolitan city of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The project falls under SEZ of Chennai region. The D&B (Design & Build) Contract of 3 IT parks of Shriram Properties was awarded to L&W Construction Pvt Ltd to construct the building in 18 months. The blocks are set to built on a 5.22Acres of site.
MY ROLE Studying Contracts documents to understand the Client’s Intent & Highlighting the variantions for approval. Design Development of 3 blocks as per NBC norms and Development Autourity approvals. Coordinating with MEP and Structure details to implement them in Coordinating drawings. Laising with Client, Consultants, Vendors, Technical team & Site team. Producing GFC Drawings for Construction Preparing DBR (Deisgn Brief Report) Following the company’s formats to keep progress records through various forms like CVI, RFI, RFA, RFAM, etc Working on D&B Contract provided me knowledge of National Building Codes and a platform to implement them practically.
The overall site area is 57.94 acres & consists of total number of 11 IT park blocks, Shopping mall & OSR area. Out of • Proposed blocks for Construction- Block A2, A3, A4 (3nos.) • Existing blocks- 4 no. • Under construction- 2no. The A2, A3 &A4 blocks are the proposed blocks with podium for design and construction. The basments of proposed blocks are to be connected with the existing blocks basement. Applicable By-laws and governing bodies 1. CMDA / NBC by-lawsW 2. Airport authority/Civil Aviation (for height approval)

The site area as per site plan is 21148m² / 5.22 Acres. The proposed site is located between existing building of IT park & OSR area. East side of building faces the hill which is a part of Arignar Anna Zoological park. A2 & A3 blocks are placed parallel to OSR in N-E direction of site, A4 is placed adjacent to existing block-A6, while podium is located diagonally opposite to A-3 block between A-2 & A-1 blocks. The same 10m setback between blocks acts as Fire tender path. Block A3 & A4 are provided entry from East side, A2 from West side.
The buildings will comply with LEED GOLD rating compliances with IGBC. The building is proposed with (2 basements + Ground floor + 11 floors + Terrace) which are to be connected with Existing Block A1 & A6. The levels of basements will be same as of Existing building to create a common parking. The Building height (floor to floor level) allocation is as follows: Basement 2- 3.2m Basement 1- 3.95m Ground floor – 4m First floor to Eleventh floor- 4m Total height of building- 60.15m (along with overhead tanks)

(Woh Hup India) Contract Type- BOQ (Civil Works) Project Duration- 7months Role: Architectutal Coordinator ( Manangement Trainee) MY ROLE Studying Contracts documents to understand the Client’s Intent & Highlighting the variantions for approval. Keeping tracks of drwings and discrepencies arrising to fastrack the project. Client & Internal meetings to resolve the problems arrising to execution team. Taking part in planning the Master Construction Plan. Preparing as build drawings. Finalizing the required available material in market for continous flow of project. Providing missing details in drawings. Handeling the BBS schedule.
RELATION TO URBAN PLANNING Industrial projects from the past history have always lead to evolution of new towns and cities, increasing the economy of country/state, increasing in employment. I have experienced that due to industrial project in a rural area has changed the lifestyle and standards of nearby villages. The housing prices and standards have increased; markets are growing up to meet the needs of people working in industries. KIA motors is an industrial project which will act as backbone to country’s development by producing Electrical vehicals reducing down the pollution, carbon emsission; and creating new job opportunities to local and across the country.

Total number of footings- 313. All are individual footings with fixed anchor bolts. Hence, the challange was to fix all anchor-bolt with very accurately so that it doesn’t cretae problem to above steel structure.

(Woh Hup India) Contract Type- BOQ (Civil Works) Project Duration- 7months Role: Architectutal Coordinator ( Manangement Trainee) Site Area- 111.5m x 70.5m Tank Capacity- 60,00,000 L Working as Architectural Coordinator , I had to study the drawings, look for the required material for procurement, find out the missing details. My roles were laising with Vendors to provide the techniacal details for works such as excavation, puddle flanges, I-beams, section channels, etc. Designing and providing on time details to site team and getting approval from Client for same. Coordinating with Structural team & formwork Consultants. Laising with Project Manager, Construction manager to prepare Master Construction Plan, Micro Schedule Plan, and drawings preparation for Billing works.

The image and architecture of the building is conceived as contemporary 21st century buildings that are responsive to their climate context. They also enhance the skyline and provide a visually legible and clear statement for the surrounding community. The Concept is to delineate dynamism in the static faรงade through a series of sliding rectangular frames. These are further activated through linear terraces (landscaped) at different levels. The ratio for Vision glass & Spandrel glass is intended in the ratio of 51% and 49% respectively.
