acknowledgements The Image making module which extended for a period of 3 weeks wouldn’t have been possible if not for the dedicated effort from our faculty Dr. Tridha Gajjar. I would like to thank my college National Institute of Design for providing the studio for the working space. I would also like to thank my classmates for critically analyzing my work and giving me required feedback from time to time. I would also like to thank the IT dept for the print facility.

Letter Integration This Assignment was to take two letters preferably the initials of your name and print those letters in different typefaces and sizes according to ones need and requirement and then use different letters of different typefaces and integrate the two chosen letters to come up with a singular form which is balanced and is read as two different letters together even in the composed form.

The chosen two letters were the letters A and D. Steps to create the final design : •

The letters were printed from different typefaces, which included regular, bold and italic versions of them.

After having printed them the letters were then traced onto a tracing sheet and we tried to integrate them.

We tried to work with the positive and negative spaces to compose the forms.

Readability of both the letters were considered while designing the forms and also the typography hierarchy.

After a chosen form was selected we further refined the form to reach to the final output.

Letter and Number Integration This Assignment was to take one letter and another number and print those in different typefaces and sizes according to ones need and requirement and then use different letters of different typefaces and integrate the chosen letter and number to come up with a singular form which is balanced and is read as a different letter and a number together, even in the composed form.

The chosen letter and number were B and 8. Steps to create the final design : •

The letter and number were printed from different typefaces, which included regular, bold and italic versions of them.

Simplification of an image This Assignment was to take a topic which holds a broader aspect of use. We selected the topic home or adventure. I took up home as a broader topic. After having selected that we had to write down what characteristics of home do we relate to, or what is the understanding of home to us. After selecting a topic under home we had to choose an object and represent that intangible characteristic of home through that object. We could take a picture of the object or take a picture from the web. After doing that we had to simplify that object to an extent that it doesn’t lose its identity and also serve the purpose of communicating that required feeling.

Home was the topic i choose. Fre e dom “ to be

Posters with the Simplified object Now using the simplified object we had to create three posters, the first poster should have the simplified object in black and white and just text showing the aspect of personalization through it. The second two posters whereas can have more than one of the object and can be used in any form possible.

The second and third posters used the same object but were multiplied and the laces were colored to bring a message of individuality and the posters were to show the importance of sharing.

Pictograms Keeping the same topic of home we were to design pictograms for a particular use in context of home.

the topic for my pictogram was Keeping shoes outside the house befor entering The context of use of the pictogram was to be considered and the space where it was to be used is also very important. The space : Outside the entry door of homes. Is is a subtle pictogram which is just an instruction or a suggestion to the visitors who come to the house, because it dealt with such a context it couldn’t be very harsh or unwelcoming.

Shoes were taken as an element while designing the pictogram, the shoes were iterated to show minimum details.

my learning The Image making module was a course filled with new experiences and learning. It introduced us to the basics of communication and also gave us a gist of how vast it can get. I learnt how to understand forms as a whole keeping two or more individual identities through letter integrations. I understood the degrees of simplification that can be applied to an image to bring out the intensity. I also learn the importance of context and space while designing. As a whole it was formed an integrate part of my learning as a graphic design student.
