Preface Social communication is the use of language in social contexts. It encompasses social interaction, social cognition, pragmatics, and language processing. The execution of the project has taken place through a graphic design skills. The topic chosen is -Emotional Abuse. Emotional Abuse is any kind of abuse that is emotional rather than physical in nature. It can include anything from verbal and constant criticism to subtle tac- tics. Emotional abuse is characterised by humiliation, critisizing, domination, control, and shame.

Also emotional abuse remains one of the most unacknowledged forms of abuse since the victims fail to realise that they are in an abusive relationship. To address this social cause in intimate relationships through a graphic medium (on College/institute level ) Campaign Peace Out was selected which would reach out to the audience through the means of a website.

Introduction What is emotional Abuse? Psychological abuse (also referred to as psychological violence, emotional abuse, or mental abuse) is a form of abuse, characterized by a person subjecting or exposing another person to behavior that may result in psychological trauma, including anxiety, chronic depression, or post-traumatic stress disorder. It is often associated with situations of power imbalance in abusive relationships, and may include bullying, gaslighting, and abuse. It also may be perpetrated by persons conducting torture, other violence, acute or prolonged human rights abuse, particularly without legal redress such as

detention without trial, false accusations, false convictions and extreme defamation such as where perpetrated by state and media. What is Campaign Peace Out? Campaign Peace Out is a spectacle for prevention of dating violence, stalking and any kind of emotional is general among intimate dating relationships or friendships. The campaign encourages friends and other community members ( from college) to speak up or talk when they see warning signs in their or their friend’s relationship.

Synopsis Campaign Peace Out is a campaign designed to cater people who are suffering from emotional abuse and their friends and family who see the warning signs in such relationships. The website also provides a platform where audience can find out how to help people suffering emotional abuse and quizzes that could help be eye openers to those who have been suffering without any awareness.

The main insights to the campaign are -To make general audience aware of emotional abuse and give them the power to acknowledge it. -To help the victims stand up for themselves and to make them realise that a ray of hope prevails through their relationship to a better, healthy and abuse free life. -To encourage family and friends of the victim to say something and helped their loved ones who are suffering from the same

Research Emotional abuse is a type of abuse that you can experience in an abusive relationship. Although it doesn’t leave you with physical scars, it can have a huge impact on your confidence and self-esteem. Emotional abuse comes in many forms, which might not be obvious at first. If you feel that you may be in an emotionally abusive relationship, there are a number of things you can do to get support. Effects of emotional abuse Victims of emotional abuse in relationships exhibit higher than average rates of alexithymia i.e having difficulty in identifying one’s

own emotions. Victims develop a coping or defensive mechanism to overlook the trauma cause by the partner. They show increased stress level and chronic depression. SHORT TERM EFFECTS Confusion Fear Hoplesness Shame Difficulty in concentrating

Moodiness Muscle tension Nightmare Racing heartbeat Various Aches and Pains LONG TERM EFFECTS Anxiety Chronic Pain Guilt Insomnia Social withdrawal Isolation Chronic fatigue syndrome Fibromyalyia

Ideation The research led to an ideation that emotional abuse can be acknowledged by reaching out to people and simply spreading awareness. There are more female victims of emotional abuse as compared to men. A campaign would help people to therefore spread maximum awareness on this topic. The campaign could be hired by colleges as per their packages. These packages would therefore include psychological help and awareness merchandise to be sold in the college/ institution premises. One could join such a campaign and

devote time to helping people suffering from emotional abuse. Victims would be provided with mental health and safe space to vent and and get over their fears. To serve such an idea a website would be the best option an online website will not only be cost effective but also have a wider demographic reach. Having a website will also provide audience with around-the-clock availability in terms of access to information.
