The Damage Report Why am I reading yet another newsletter? I got one last month! Are these people addicted to writing the stuff? So many things have happened at, in and around FAAPI 2001, and APIBA’s situation at the moment is of such relevance, that we just had to tell you! In this newsletter you will find information about the “after hours” of FAAPI 2001: how to go about getting certificates which were delayed or incorrectly printed, where to get copies of the video, how to send an evaluation form if you didn’t get round to dropping it at the boxes during the conference, etc. On a more relevant note, there is news concerning APIBA committee elections, the continuation of our Annual General Meeting on November 9th, and other things concerning the workings of our association. We hope to see you all on November 9, where we will discuss APIBA’s future and who will take the association there.

FAAPI 2001 issues The conference was a huge success, as all participants could notice. About 800 people attended it, and they all left with smiles on their faces– most of them at least! People who had their attendance certificates corrected for slight spelling inaccuracies can collect them at our offices at KEL (see address and office hours on this page) Attendants who did not complete their conference feedback forms, can download them from our website and send them to us via email. We need to hear from you so that future conferences are even better than this one! FAAPI 2002 scholarships: thanks to the generous anonymous donation of two speakers at FAAPI 2001, APIBA announces two FAAPI 2002 scholarships covering conference enrolment and $250 towards travelling and accommodation. Look for further information as FAAPI 2002 comes closer. Those who would like to spot their face in the crowd, watch plenary sessions they missed or have a souvenir of their presentations, can order photographs and conference videos from:  Photographs: Andrés Aguirre (4451-8214, 15-446-7696), email: aguirrefoto@yahoo.com  Video: Elena Saporiti (4804-4757, fax: 4804-4667, 15-53319544), email:EHSVIDEO@aol.com

Late birds are food for worms Members who have not paid their dues for the year 2001 are still in time to do so. Our treasurer reminds us that membership for the year 2001 is $50. Also, if you would rather catch the worm than feed it, membership for the year 2002 has been set at the Annual General Meeting at $30 for those who pay by April 30 2002 and $50 for those who do it afterwards.

Time to cough up! MATSDA Conference MATSDA’s “Alternatives in Language Teaching” will take place at Leeds Metropolitan University, on January 26 2002. To book a place at the Conference contact Linda Barnes at l.barnes@lmu.ac.uk. Our very own Claudia Ferradas Moi will be one of the speakers, so why not go and cheer for her? Break a leg, Claudia, and don’t forget to bring whatever the Leeds version of “Alfajores Havana” is!!
