We would like to remind you that the closing date for application for subsidies to travel to FAAPI 2002 is September 9th. If you haven't submitted your application yet, you still have time! More information is available from the APIBA Web site.

The 2002 APIBA Annual Seminar will take place on Saturday 19th October (9 am to 4 pm) at IES en Lenguas Vivas "J. R. Fernández", Carlos Pellegrini 1515. The general subject area of the seminar will be Methodology and Materials Design, and the presenters will be announced shortly. Silvia Luppi will coordinate a panel discussion by Corine Arguimbau, Silvia Rettaroli, Silvia Ronchetti and Ma. Silvia Stagnaro, followed by workshops on specific areas of Materials Design and the presentation of the winners of My Favourite Classroom Task Task. You can't miss it! ISP "JVG" solidarity campaign: Help wanted!

Don't let the things you CANNOT do stop you doing the things you CAN do...

As we all know, Argentina is undergoing a severe crisis. The English Department at Instituto Superior del Profesorado "Dr. Joaquin V. Gonzalez" feels urged to do something about it. That is why we have launched a solidarity campaign so that the people who CAN help, may do so.

Comedor "Niños Felices" is a day-care centre located in Perito Moreno and Varela streets, in Flores. It feeds and shelters more than 350 underprivileged children every day.

What?

To begin with, we would like to provide these children with their daily bread. For this reason we have drawn up a list of urgently needed supplies for you to contribute. The following are the non-perishable food items you can donate: noodles - rice - cornflower (polenta) - beans - lentils - sugar salt - "yerba" - tea - flour - oil - tomato sauce - powder milk

Where?

Food donations will be stored at the JVG Lab and taken to "Niños Felices" day-care centre once a month. Those wishing to help can take their contributions to either the ISP JVG Lab (Av. Rivadavia 3577, Room 27, second floor, Buenos Aires) or to the APIBA office (see office hours below).

ETHICS - Members: María Isabel Santa, Inés Cambiasso, Silvia Luppi, Marisa Vilaseco, Susana Lezcano de Colombo Recent activities: Two of the members from this sub-committee, Maria Inés Cambiaso and Susana Lezcano de Colombo, produced a working paper on the APIBA Code of Ethics. A few ammendments were made to the original draft, and once the sub-committe has finished discussing the proposal, they will submit the final version to the Executive Committee.

PUBLICATIONS - Members: Verónica Storni Fricke, Claudia Ferradas Moi, Pablo Toledo Recent activities: This Sub-Committee have proposed to produce two publications, one on-line and the other in the form of a journal. At present they are discussing ways of financing the publications.
