Artesano
Honorable Mention : ULI / Gerald D. Hines Student Design Competition | 2012 Houston Team Project
Creating a New Light Industry District
Sustain
Located at the convergence of Houston’s Theatre, Historic, and Warehouse districts, Artesano connects downtown’s neighborhoods through economic and social diversity, environmental sustainability, and public space activation.
By reusing a significant portion of the existing structure, and recycling the building and site materials, Artesano will reduce construction costs and environmental impact associated with new development. By shedding the site’s water runoff away from the bayou and creating a system for its reuse, Artesano will set the standard for innovative stormwater management and water conservation strategies in the city.

CityPull!
Special Jury Prize for Landscape Design Ed Bacon Student Design Competition | 2011 Philadelphia Team Project
Concept
New Fresh-Water Marsh
The Delaware watershed is a major regional ecological system We created an ecological zone along river to give the river’s in the northeast. Philadelphia currently neglects its portion edge back to nature and reconstitute the area as a freshof the watershed because of I-95 and the CSX rail line, which water marsh. fragment the southeast portion of the city. CityPull! solves these major problems with one major move—pulling the fabric of the city towards the river & up and over the highway.

AUDREY PLUMMER | PORTFOLIO
Rehabilitating a Fragmented Site We realigned I-95 along river and gave back over 300 acres to the city. Then we pulled the fabric of the city towards the river and up and over I-95.
Masterplan There is a latent potential for development and public space in southern district. We let the existing city grid fills in southern district and creates new public space above highway. Then we flipped the relationship of the interstate and the pedestrian zones, placing the pedestrian literally above the interstate.

The Fit Loop
ULI / Gerald D. Hines Student Design Competition | 2013 Minneapolis Team Project
Public Space: The Hill
Street View
An open green to be used as a park in the summer converts to Minneapolis’ own snow park in the winter. Snowboarders, skiers, and families with sleds are all welcome to enjoy an active day on the hill. Don’t forget to return in the fall to watch the Vikings games on the Interactive Billboard above Tarkenton Square.
Minneapolis, and more precisely downtown east, holds a well-established connection to healthcare. Local entities such as hennepin county medical center and the university of minneapolis medical school offer a strong base for a successful health and wellness district.

Masterplan The Right Fit’s fitness path [The Fit Loop] expands the boundaries of what fitness means to the modern and future urbanite. Minneapolis, already known to be a city of healthy citizens, is offered yet another opportunity to mesh the active lives of its people with the fabric of the city.
Birdseye View The captivating and visionary new typology portrayed in the design indicates both a symbolic path to Minneapolis’ future and a physical connection between the citizens and a new urban experience.
Visioning Plan Minneapolis’ strong grid system allows for an efficient and extensive connectivity. At its boundaries, however, highways demarcate and separate neighborhoods. The vision plan associated with the right fit aims to break boundaries and reintegrate neighborhoods.

Retrofitting the Sewoon Building Incremental Redevelopment | 2012 Seoul Team Project
Public Space
Architecture
Removing the 2nd level public plaza puts more people on the streets and activates public space.
Because the building is so wide, the only program it can hold is wholesale retail space. Therefore, we propose strategically cutting into the building to create smaller dimensioned spaces conducive to residential use.

The Cordoba Home
1St Place NOMA Student Design Competition | 2009 St. Louis Team Project
Culture Inspires and Informs Program
First Floor Plan
Colombian culture is family-oriented. Multiple generations reside in one home; elders are respected and honored. As Grandfather is in a wheelchair, the home must be universally accessible and create an architecturally relevant, sustainable dwelling.
Exterior kitchen wall opens to merge with the courtyard create a large, flexible space

Ramp The display case functions as the handrail and the structure for the ramp.
Context Sensitive Design By drawing datum lines from the facades of neighboring houses and playing with unique window elements., the Cordoba home fits into the fabric of the historic Benton Park neighborhood. Section Because the Cordoba home is universally accessible, Grandfather, who is wheelchair-bound, can come upstairs to the children’s rooms.
Front Facade By de-emphasizing individual space and heightening the shared space, we created this new element—the sparkspace—that allows the family to be together, share ideas, and strengthen relationships.
Kitchen Opens up to Central Courtyard In Colombian culture, the kitchen is central to family life. Because this culture also prizes a relationship with the outdoors, the Cordoba’s kitchen connects to the central courtyard—the sparkpace—by a sliding glass wall that opens up and joins the sparkspace and kitchen as one space.

Ozeaneum
Behnisch Architekten Internship | 2006-2007 Stralsunds, Germany Team Project
The Ozeaneum was finished in July 2008
Physical Model
The Ozeaneum is located on the city’s historic waterfront immediately World Heritage Site. It relates to the sea, rather than the historic town. It is an open house that can be ‘flooded’ from all sides by daylight and visitors, like water swirling around stones on the seabed.
At Behnisch, models are integral to the design process. The attitude at Behnisch was that one must work with 3-D objects to design a building that wo uld exist in three dimensions. Even a computer model only looks three dimensional on screen, but in reality it exists in two dimensions.

Section
Simple Vierendeel Truss accommodates basic clinic requirements & allows for surrealist elements which engage the body and the imagination.
The existing parking deck is retrofitted to accomodate offices and walking path. The new atrium has trees and meeting space suspended from the Vierendeel truss.
The Vierendeel Truss also accomodates traditional clinic functions like surgery suites and exam rooms.

Musikhaus Stralsund Sails on the Sea | 2010 Stralsund, Germany Individual Project
Revitalizing Stralsund
North-South Section
The Musikhaus develops out of the new urban context developed in a previous project. It is located at the central point of the redevelopment plan where the promenade, street, and pedestrian ways cross. Together, the new urban plan and the Musikhaus create a culturally dense space that capitalizes on the harbor.
The atrium’s structure gives visitors a feeling of being in a ship hanger.

Interior of Large Concert Hall The larger of the concert halls is oriented towards the Stralsund skyline.
Plans Four music venues (an outdoor stage, an indoor concert hall, an intimate hall, and an atrium with dance floor) are oriented towards the sea, canals, and city.
Physical Model The white-clad buildings appear to be sails in the wind. Materially, the Musikhaus is in dialogue with the Ozeaneum two islands north.

Marietta Street Library
Library as Theater: The Play Between Culture and Nature | 2008 Atlanta Individual Project
Library as Theater
Ground Level Plan
In the architectural solution for an urban branch library in Atlanta, this inherent theater of pantomime becomes exaggerated and expands to include other theatrical arrangements of space. This design captures the drama and excitement found in books and integrates it into the human interactions that take place within the library.
The structural system offers the groundwork for the theater. This system includes 10ft by 30ft bays which act as “streets.

AUDREY PLUMMER | PORTFOLIO
I aspire to be an architect, urban designer, and city planner, because I want to use my professional skills to address the tough obstacles our world faces. Architects and city planners can create better ways to use the resources we have, to reinvigorate depressed communities, to shelter the elderly, to provide decent communities for the growing populations of developing nations, and to tackle many other challenges our societies face. They are in a unique position to bring positive change through the built environment.
Audrey Plummer
The world needs talented designers with ideas, insights, and a spirit of innovation that respond to the demands of people, place, and resources. These architects and city planners must also be relevant and responsible, with a deep understanding of historical, cultural, and personal dynamics. Such knowledge requires engagement with professionals in many disciplines and people from many cultures. The projects in this portfolio and on my website show I am a creative person with a passion for using design to solve problems, a high-achieving young woman with a deep appreciation of diverse cultures, a dynamic collaborator, and a bold self-starter who loves to explore new situations and ideas.
