hanganui’s public libraries are freely open to everyone.

They have more than 100,000 books, magazines and DVDs together with over 30,000 eBooks and eMagazines for you to enjoy. Streaming video, free unlimited wifi and free-to-use desktop computers are also available.
JOINING
The libraries run holiday programmes and events throughout the year for children and families. They also look after our community’s memories and enable people to discover and connect with their own and their community’s stories.
It is free to join the library – you can register online or at any branch. Then bring some form of identification, such as your driver’s licence or passport to the library to complete registration and get your library card – with your all-important membership number!

Library services are provided via: • a central library – the ‘Davis’ in Pukenamu Queen’s Park • a heritage research library – the ‘Alexander’ in Pukenamu Queen’s Park • a community-based library – Gonville Library at 44 Abbot Street • two mobile library vans – visiting schools and rest homes, and servicing suburban and rural communities; and the Library Home Service which brings the library to those who can’t get out to library venues • Hakeke Street Library at 65 Hakeke Street – a self-service library in partnership with the Hakeke Street Community Centre • Rangiora Street Library at 10 Rangiora Street – a self-service
