Easter arts and drawings made by children. The opening of the event was with poetry, folk dance, old Macedonian customs, traditional music, fastening dishes with lots of traditional food that women cook for Easter Holidays and many participants on different age. There were about 20 participants in the exhibition of traditional arts made by women, and the interest among women
for being part of this exhibition is growing every year. The children's exhibition was more like a contest. All the children from the 2 primary schools in Gevgelija had 1 week to prepare their Easter drawings, Easter eggs, arts and crafts, and their teachers choose the best peaces to be part in this children's exhibition. For being part of this project the schools received donation (books for their libraries and materials for the art class) and the best 12 children were rewarded with full set for doing more art work. The interest for this exhibition was very big, given that the peaces that were shown have tremendous and unique value. This leaves us with one conclusion: We should continue and pass the tradition of our ancestor s to our youngest generation , and we should invest more and support the children’s creativity.

“Gitarijada” - musical guitar contest For the second time in our town was held guitar competition organized by the Association of citizens “3G Delfin”, or the famous music group “Zijan”. The guitar contest started on the 24th April 2009 with selective evening which were held in the discotheque “Paris” in Miravci, where 14 groups from the whole country played. The final evening took place on the city stadium with the performance of 7 finalist chosen by the public and the jury. “Eclipse” from Prilep, “Aquarius” from Gevgelija, “Grimus” from Struga were the bands chosen by the public and the jury decided for “Pig BC” from Ilija Cakaroski - the best guitar player Skopje, “Adrenalin” from St. Nikole, “Hall of sins” from Bitola and “Vanity fair” from Skopje. On this contest there were also 3 individual prizes for the best guitar players and the best drummer. The groups who took the first place and won video musical spot are “Hall of sins” from Bitola, “Vanity Fair” from Skopje and “Pig BC” from Bitola. The special guests in the final night was the famous group “Superhiks”. We are proud to say that Apollonia Foundation was one of the sponsors of this event.
Celebration on the Earth Day 2009 Last weekend of April, 80 children from Nature Day, for the second time traditionally, celebrated Earth Day 2009 with various environmental activities. The small group of children in Saturday cleaned the parks and green places on our square and around it. There was also a place with billboard and special book in the center of our town where people could wrote their massages about our planet. The older children continued with the cleaning the next day but this time our goal was the picnic place “Dinkut”. This time we had also volunteers: Gurgica who is our aerobic instructor, Biljana - our regular volunteer, 2 girls from Berovo and Pehcevo - they were on a visit in our town and joined this cleaning action, and also Kristen from America who is volunteer from the Peace Corps and works with another NGO in Gevgelija, but still wants to make something more about the ecology and the appearance of this town. All of us were dismayed of the ugly pictures and all kinds of trash we saw on the places where children go to play and do sports. We should all think about the nature, our habits of throwing away things, about taking care of our own parks. Its our planet and our future on stake!

Easter concert of classical music
On Thursday, 16th of April in Apollonia Hotel was held an Easter concert of classical music. The participants in this concert were the children who are students in the musical school in Gevgelija “Vaso Karajanov” in the class of prof. Ljubica Ulisheva. On every significant holiday people in Gevgelija have the pleasure to hear the performance of these young musical talents. In pleasant Easter atmosphere people celebrated the biggest Christian holiday, enjoying in the piano music.
Gymnastic competition for children On the 25th April in Prilep was held state competition in gymnastics for children. Fifteen children from Gevgelija took part in this competition and brought to the Association for gymnastic sports “Partizan” from Gevgelija 3 diplomas for: first place in Junior – as team, second place in Younger Pioneers - as team and third place in Older Pioneers - as team. In individual competition in the group of children until 9 years old, Sanja Trajkovska won the second place and silver medal. Their teacher Tashko Stojanov got golden plaque for affirmation of popular sports. Apollonia Foundation gave donation to this Association for gymnastic sports for making this trip and being part of the competition possible. We are very proud on their success and we wish them many more rewards in future.
Piano concert of Elena Kostovska On the 28th April in the Gala room of Apollonia Hotel, was held concert of classical music. Elena Kostovska from Skopje for the first time after 10 years appears again in front of the public. Peaces from Bach, Shubert , Beethoven and Ravel were played on the program. Elena took her masters degree in 1999 on the School for music in Essen - Duisburg in the class of prof. Bernard Vambah and as scholarship student of the Lions Club from Duisburg and the Ministry for culture of Macedonia. In 1995 on the International competition “Muzikata i zemjata” in Sofia, Bulgaria wins the special prize. She also participates in the International contest Viotti - Valsesia in Italy in 1999. She has been part of many masters schools with famous pianists and teachers (V.Krpan, E .K orol jo v, A.Valdma), and she has specially good collaboration with the pianist Ženi Zaharieva from Bulgaria, Arbo Valdma, and also lately with the famous professor Piter Fojhtvenger from England. In the past years she has held concerts in Skopje, Thessaloniki, Sofia, Lichtenberg, Heidelberg, Duisburg. Elena is working now as a piano professor in the State music and ballet school in Skopje. This concert was organized and sponsored by Apollonia Foundation.

This May traditionally for the eight time will be held the Apollonia Art Commune 2009 who is in full organization of Apollonia Foundation. This is our garbage. A solid is anything that has s definite firm shape and volume. Waste is anything thrown away especially if has not been used completely.
Just one gallon of used oil has the potential to contaminate up to one million gallons of drinking water.
Five 2-liter recycled PET bottles produce enough fiberfill to make a ski jacket.
