From 15th till 25th of June Apollonia Foundation was a host of the Apollonia Art commune 2009 which was organized traditionally for the 8th time. The begging of the new art season started with an exhibition of the arts made in the last art commune 2008, which was held in the exhibitory parlor of Apollonia Hotel. This exhibition was opened by Dimitar Malidanov, dean of the faculty for fine arts in Skopje. In his speech he said that the plenitude of light here in the south is what makes different poetics and originality among authors, in recapturing the real image of Gevgelija. The participants of this prestige art creative “workshop” had the opportunity for 10 days in the Motel “Vardar”, which is located nearby the ancient town Gortinija, to express their inspirations and artistic talents and make the newest works of art. Members in this year’s Apollonia Art colony were: 1.

KUD Braka Tolevi on International culture event in Banja Luka - BiH From 3rd until 6th of July the folklore group KUD Braka Tolevi from Gevgelija presented our Macedonian folklore in the international culture event in Banja Luka „5th Kozara Ethno“ which was organized by the Tourist Organization of the City of Banja Luka and KUD Piskavica. Main idea of this manifestation is to present the forgotten parts of old customs as a touristic potential of mountain Kozara and it’s region and promote a country tourism as a way to protect homeland true cultural values. Main objective of this event is to protect, improve and promote cultural and touristic values of Kozara region. The ethno event of Kozara shows the essence of „folk“, it reminds it’s visitors of the way that people lived before and presents it as a interesting touristic attraction. Exposition, folklore, traditional games and songs , working in the field are one of the interesting parts of this ceremony. Also, this event is colored by authentic sound of ethno part of Kozara with numerous songs and plays of different groups from Bosnia and Herzegovina, other regions and international groups. The topic of the event Kozara Ethno 2009 is the custom of „Slava“ of the area from Potkozarje so typical scenes from life and daily works of ethno man from Kozara were part of the event. On the 5th Kozara Ethno, cultural and artistic clubs from Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad performed, 10 traditional vocal groups from the territory of Kozara took part in the competition program and ethno groups from Serbia, Macedonia, Slovenia, Belgium, Hungary and BiH took part in the regular program. We’re proud that Gevgelija and the traditional folklore of our region is presented on this culture event of world wide range. Apollonia Foundation supported the participation of the folklore group KUD Braka Tolevi on this festival, because we believe that our folklore, and traditions are one of the best ambassadors of Macedonian culture. One more success of the gymnastic club Partizan from Gevgelija In the recreation ground Partizan in Dojran, from 17th until 23th of June was held state pioneer competition in several disciplines which was organized by the Federation of Gymnastic sports of Macedonia. In this sport event participated 75 children from the gymnastic clubs in Bitola, Prilep, Strumica, Skopje and Gevgelija. The best pioneers who competed in more disciplines won medals, diplomas and rewards and the best teams received bowls. From the association for gymnastic sport Partizan - Gevgelija 13 children participated in several disciplines and they won the following prices: 1.

First place in the individual competition for women (age under 11 years old) this place

Kabare 6

International prize for our choir “Gortinija”

The city choir “Gortinija” participated in the biggest world festival for orthodox choir music in Hajnovka, Poland called “Days of orthodox music”. Thirty choirs from all over the world took part in this festival, which was great opportunity for presentation of the Macedonian orthodox music as well as the qualities of our choir. Their performance was excellent and the choir won the Special prize for interpretation. Their presence on this festival was helped by the municipality of Gevgelija and Apollonia Foundation. The amateur theater group KABARE 6 from Gevgelija, with their 10 year experience of work in and out of Macedonia, have added one more success, performing on the International festival for alternative theater FAKI 12, which was held from 19th till 24th of May in Zagreb, Croatia. Setting their artistic capabilities of one of the scenes in Culture center Medika in Zagreb, Kabare 6 won the audience and the interest for cooperation from many others professional and amateur Balcan groups. That’s how, in the frames of this festival, Kabare 6 and the group LJUD from Slovenia made a joined project, who had a positive effect to the public for which was intended. This group presented our community very successfully and came back with many offers for cooperation with other international groups as well as invitations for other festivals abroad. Apollonia Foundation supported their activities and made a donation for covering part of the cost for their trip and successful presentation on the festival in Zagreb. Exhibition of Hristina Zafirovska Organized by Apollonia Foundation, on the 5th of June in the exhibitory parlor of Apollonia Hotel was opened the exhibition of Hristina Zafirovska from Skopje, presenting paintings from the new cycle called Creation II. These arts present the impulsive creative notion of the artist, an energy that tries to find its way with the purpose and the need to exteriorize in one expression. With one very characteristic art language visually its presented the imaginary, mental picture for the process of creation of one peace of art.

Hristina was born in 1983 in Skopje. She has graduated on the Faculty for fine arts in Skopje, on the section for painting with graphic design in the class of prof. Simon Šemov. Hristina has been part of over 20 group exhibitions in Skopje, Belgrade - Serbia, Istanbul - Turkey, Trebinje - BiH, Prague - Czech Republic and Peking China. She participated in 7 workshops and art colonies in Macedonia, Croatia and Serbia. In 2000 she won the first price from the Culture Center in Kratovo for taking place in the traditional art commune “Lazar Sofijanov” in Kratovo. Individual exhibitions: “Creation” in Youth culture center Skopje (2007), and the last one “Creation II” which was presented to the public in Gevgelija, Skopje and Prilep.

This year is the 10 years celebration of the traditional culture manifestation called “Gevgelija musical moments”. By organizing these events Apollonia Foundation wishes to establish and continuously develop feelings and positive relations between the Gevgelian audience and the classical music. In the past 10 years, on the podium in Apollonia Hotel, in front of Gevgelian public, plead of reproductive artists, from pupils, students on musical academies until top musicians as Simon Tprcevski presented themselves. Years behind, this manifestation is the only possibility for the all the admirers of classical music, as well as the students and teachers in the primary musical school in Gevgelija to see and listen in live the performances of many classical peaces. Apollonia Foundation will continue to realize this manifestation convinced in the nobility of this “mission of realized reunions with the values of the clasical music” . This year the season of concerts in the Gevgelia Spring starts on the 14th of July with piano concert of one young musician Emil Ribarski from Skopje. Everyone is welcomed to come
