The 9th art commune APOLLONIA 2010 Traditionally for the 9th time Motel Vardar was host of art commune organized and supported by Apollonia Foundation, in which 10 artists from Macedonia and abroad participated. In cooperation with the municipality, this year were invited artists from the sister towns of Gevgelija city, and traditionally we have 2 representatives of the Association of artists from Gevgelija. In the art commune APOLLONIA 2010 participated the following artists: Rajko Karisi¢ from Serbia, Ivan Ivanov from Bulgaria, from Macedonia: Nice Vasilev – Strumica, Academic Vasko Tashkovski - Skopje, Natasha Petkovska – Kumanovo, Dijana Bogdanovska – Tetovo, Lidija Petkoska – Bitola, Gorjan Gorgiev – Skopje, and Gordana Hadzi-Nikolova Malashev and Mile Nicevski from Gevgelija.

State competition in kick box In organization of the Kick box club Apollonia, and supported by Apollonia Foundation on the 20th June in Gevgelija was held the state competition in kick box in which young members from almost all kick box clubs in Macedonia participated. This competition in which children on age from 9 to 20 fight, was a great opportunity for getting new experience especially for the young fighters as well as promotion of the kick box as one attractive sport that spreads and becomes more and more interesting in the world. Guided by the famous kick boxer Atanas Stojkovski on this competition the members of the kick box club Apollonia presented themselves. The host kick box club were represented by Dejan Bojkovksi, Zdravko Micev, Gorge Vegov, Blaze Proshev and Laze Lazarovski, and in six matches they realized one victory.

Gevgelija Music Talents In terms of classic music concerts in Apollonia, June was reserved for Gevgelija musical talents. The students from the music school “Vaso Karajanov” from the classes of prof. Ljubica Ulisheva and prof. Suzana Stefanova held two concerts where they performed compositions for piano and flute. On 1st June Gevgelija’s public had the opportunity to hear the music performance of fourteen piano students from the class of prof. Ljubica Ulisheva, who in 2010 won 3 state and 2 international prizes. The flute students from the fifth year in the class of prof. Suzana Stefanova held concert 8th June and in one hour program the talent and music sense was showed by Sara Stamkova, Nada Gogova, Ana Gocevska and Ivana Kostovska in piano accompanied by prof. Sonja Jovanova. With new concerts and events, the manifestation Gevgelija Musical moments 2010 will continue in autumn.

Cultural manifestation "Summer Shivers" In organization of the Culture center “Macedonia” from Gevgelija, and with the support of Apollonia Foundation, in June started the culture manifestation Sumer -----.The begging of this event was marked with the folk dances of Braka Tolevi and Podegrozdie Ensemble from Poland. In the frames of June part of this event were held also fashion show and poetry night where the book “Love speaks” with poetry from the primary and high school students was promoted. “Gevgelija Dance” was the last event from the June program, and the young people had an opportunity to show their skills in modern ballet and hip-hop dances. “Summer ….” Continues in July with African night where the people from Gevgelija will have the rare opportunity to see the dance of Abidjan – group from Cote d’ivoire.

European championship in football

The honor to be a host of the UEFA European championship in football for women under 19, this year was given to Skopje city. Around fifty children from the open fun football schools in Gevgelija, including the children from “Nature Day” project of Apollonia Foundation were present on the final game between England and France which took place on the city stadium in Skopje and which finished with victory of France. France got the title Euro champion in woman competition for 2010.

Commission for culture The commission for culture that works in the parliament of Macedonia in the begging of June organized Supervising public discussion on theme: “The implementation of the law for donations and sponsorship in public areas”. The president of Apollonia Foundation, Mr. Ace Ristovski was invited to take part in the discussion and share the experience in the long years work in organizing and supporting different events, as well as the experience in the donations and sponsorship. “Apollonia Foundation showed what it means to be philanthropic and what you can do for your community, what ways you can help develop culture, art, health, sport, to help in every possible way in the place where you live” were some of the opinions given from the members of parliament after the testimony of Apollonia Foundation. We honestly hope that the new law which is in preparation will contribute for stimulating and increasing the donations and for development of the philanthropy and social responsibility of more companies in Macedonia.

Nature Day Visit of the ZOO and the Nature Science Museum in Skopje with the youngest members of project “Nature Day”

Successfully organized cleaning action of the children’s playground and the green spots in the street Ilindenska. In this environmental activity of the children form Nature Day few citizens who live on this street also took part. At the end besides the garbage we also collected 10 bags of 50 l plastic which was taken to the yellow containers for recycling. Nature Day in cooperation with Komunalec will continue with regular cleaning action of our environment every last Saturday of the month.

Rajko Karishik - life and work Rajko Karishik from Serbia is one of the foreign participants in the art commune Apollonia 2010. Karishik, who was for second time in Apollonia’s art colony, has graduated on the Machine Faculty in Novi Sad, and has started to work with photography as student in 1973. As individual author has issued photo-monographs dedicated to the Hilandari monastery, Museum of open “Old village” and Shirogojni, as well as twelve mini monographs dedicated to the most famous monasteries in Serbia and abroad. So far he has exhibited on over 40 individual and more than 100 group exhibitions in Serbia and abroad, and for his accomplishments in the area photography he has won more prices and awards.
